Do You Have BronyDar? (Brony Radar) Being Able To "Spot" a Brony

I have noticed bronies in general have very quirky personalities. Not that its a bad thing in fact, I love it as it makes people fun to be around.

I have been able to spot bronies with at least 90% accuracy just by getting to know them.

Besides the obvious MLP themed attire which is rare for me to see,  I have noticed bronies in general have similar interests that make them stand out such as video games, anime, technology, creepy pastas, similar interests in music, and sometimes being a furry.

At my college for example I was able to guess out of the 10/12 I met with these traits and to confirm by later asking them directly that they were indeed bronies.

Some of the people I have met are really shy and finally got to open up to me once they realized I was a "closet brony" too and I was not judgmental.

Other bronies I was easily able to detect was the ones with the very quirky personalities and one other thing being Fedoras.

I dont know if all people that wear fedoras are bronies, but the four people that did wear fedoras at my school all confirmed to me that they were bronies.

Ironically they were the most quirky and fun to be around ones to.

Anyone else have what I would call bronydar (brony radar) and have been able to spot bronies with near accuracy?

Basically, I discover them as soon as I see colors on their clothes coinciding the looks of the mane 6.

 

I proceed to ask them, and theh say it's based off of a character all the time.

 

That, and if they are wearing any type of clothing. lol

Eh, can't say I do, I mean I've only ever come across another brony/pegasister (whichever you prefer) twice in my life, and it wasn't me who 'initiated contact' in either case. Chances are though, probably not. I can't simply look at someone and be like "yeah ... that person's a brony".

 

For me to figure that out, it would likely require some obvious hints.

If he is wearing a fedora and is quirky, chances are he is a brony lol. At least from my experience.

At school, I wouldn't be able to tell if someone didn't have any merch. At meetups though, it's pretty obvious. I guess people go Brony mode when they're with allies.

No cloaking field, just shy, or are very closeted bronies like myself. Only way you would know I am a brony is if I really trust you IRL and you directly asked me. I have met a few bronies like this. In fact if anyone I dont really trust or has a loud mouth asked me if I was a brony I would deny it which i have done in the past with some people.

 

But most bronies I have encountered are very social, quirky, and at times fedora wearers.

I usually have something pony related visible, so brony-dar isn't necessary. It's a good thing too, bronies usually look just like everybody else.

Sometimes if I even assume so, I throw caution to the wind and start singin "sunshine sunshine ladybugs awake!" And 70% of the time I'm right, 25% of the time they back away with a "wtf?" Look.

All the bronies that I have met in real life have a really dark mood hanging around them, myself included. If a person doesn't talk much or talks too much, then I think it is safe to say they might have a possibility of being a brony. This is just from what I have seen.

I have never spotted another brony in public. I had an assumption on one guy though when I was getting ponies from Target. I would have said something, but I usually don't talk unless someone comes to me.

I guess you could tell maybe on their music taste (classical or dubstep.....cuz octavia and Vinyl....u know) Or if a really shy girl bumps into you and says "oh, I'm sorry" In a really low tone.

Nah, I don't really have an eye for that kind of thing, short of them blatantly walking around in pony tees. I can generally tell when people are nerds, but nerdiness doesn't give me enough to work with to assume "brony".

Well, maybe. But I have a slight problem with confirmation bias. I may have been able to figure out a handful of bronies, but I don't know how many I haven't been able to successfully identify. I feel like I can detect subtle quotes and humming pretty well though.

Yeah, I think a few people are bronies at my school... of course I'm not going to ask unless I know for sure though... I don't really want to insult them if they really aren't one. ( If they take being a brony as a bad thing. )

Sometimes, I like to think about whether people are bronies or not.  I usually assume that a majority of theater kids and close friends of open bronies are bronies.  Other things, such as girls talking about the MLP of their childhoods, calling themselves "socially awkward" (even if they aren't), and even being gay may give me a suspicion.  But no, I cannot instantly detect if one is a brony or not.

Im a pretty observant type of individual so im able to spot a brony/pegisister a little easier, especially when im in a story that contains MLP shirt, merchandise, etc.  I tend to listen in on there conversations (dont worry, im no creeper.  Im accustom to it, due to growing up in a city).   However, a BronyDar.....that's quite some name, lol.
