Generation 1 Villains

Well, half of the characters on your list have either shown up or have basically been confirmed for an appearance. I've been pretty satisfied with the ones that have been reintroduced so far, particularly Tirek. I expect Grogar to be a formidable foe, though he may be reimagined in a completely different manner like the Smooze was from G1 so I won't make any calls just yet.

The others like Arabus/Zeb and Squirk/Crank are pretty forgettable. They kind of fall short in the context of the current generation where a bit more is expected from the antagonists than sheer power hunger and belligerence. Tirek worked because hes also highly manipulative and has a vengeance motive. But we've had much better original villains from this generation with the likes of Discord and Chrysalis. Although Lavan was pretty comical in his musical number about power.

So glad Zeb did not make a return. While him and Arabus stealing pony shadows to cause them to lose energy and feel weaker interesting Gen 4 Tirek did the similar thing (eating pony magic to grow stronger) way better. Plus Zeb was a total creep who gave me major pedophile vibes. He was so slimy. You thought Svengallop bad? Well, he was! But this guy was so much worse than even Svengallop! Zeb made Svengallop look like a misunderstood angel. In case some of you didn't know here is a pic of the creep. Yeah, he's a zebra and the very first in MLP. Sorry Zecora that you zebras have this creep as a member of your species. But, most of you zebras are awesome, so it's all good! This guy seems to be the only one who isn't. As to why he gives me pedo vibes. Well, it's because he tricks a trio of fillies into working for him just so he can steal their shadows for his boss to eat. So glad he never came back or was mentioned ever again.

After rewatching their episode I kind of wished the flouries had made a return in FIM or in Gen 5 because they'd be underestimated until too late. After all, who would think talking flowers could be capable of evil? Fluttershy for sure would be learning the same lesson Posey did about not judging a book by its cover. Totally random, but I recognized one of their voices. It sounded like Babs Bunny, so Tress MacNeille voiced one of the evil flowers.

Other Gen 1 voice actors I recognize are Nancy Cartwright (she voices Gusty) who famously voices Bart Simpson and Scott Menville (he voices Danny) who we all know now voices Robin from Teen Titans. This must have been their very first cartoon they starred in. I can't help, but hear Bart every time Gusty speaks lol!

Lisa Simpson: /somehow finds out/ "Hey Bart I hear you once voiced a pony in an old cartoon. Wait until everyone at school hears about this!" XD
