The apples are a hard working family and having a pony like pinkie around could really over shadow poor AJ.

How could anypony not be overshadowed by the bestest most awesometastic amazing pony? Except for Cheese Sandwich, he wasn't overshadowed by her but exclusively for the reason that people were amazed that he was close to even half as good as the perfect pink party pony.

Nah, I don't personally believe so. The reason AJ was so calm about it is simply because of Applejack's character. She's a bit more relaxed and possibly more mature than her other family members and as a result, can be a bit more skeptical of things and a lot more calm even when it's possible a close friend could have been a family member all along.

I took that into account.

IF apple jack did feel threatened because of her character it would be kinda hard to tell wouldn't it?  I mean it's not like she'd fracture and bounce of the walls like pinkie would.

I think AppleJack felt that Pinkie was jumping to conclusions out if sheer excitement.

 

Not to say that she didn't believe Pinkie Pie, but she probably thought that Pinkie shouldn't have assumed anything just yet.

I thought that to the first time i sat through the episode,

but of all the apples why did apple jack the only one to go "hold your horses!" so to speak?

 

The only reason i could come up with was "that would be awesome to have pinkie in the family!"

Like i get apple jacks reasoning is sound, but why is she the only one?

I think Applejack was more shocked and still processing the information of Pinkie being a potential relative. I mean wouldn't you feel shocked if you found out one of your friends could potentially be related to you?
