Unfortunately I am not sure if people who lack common sense will listen to people with common sense. Hard to tell on the Internet.

No, not nowadays. Idiots have been on YouTube for as long as I can remember. I started using it in 2006 and got an account in 2007... I'm one of those old people on the Internet lol.

 

It's what happens when you let anyone and everyone feel welcome to comment.

I hated it in the past because the new system wasn't cooperative with the old comments from before (so I couldn't click on time links or "like" and "dislike" old comments), but now I feel like it's a bit more organized and makes sense. However, I am not fond of how I have to go deep into my account to check if I received personal messages because it doesn't notify me on the homepage (and I forget I have an inbox). I've remembered about the inbox and find that I was messaged several weeks ago, but unable to respond because of a lack of an up front notification .

Youtube should experiment with getting rid of the comments feature altogether. I say "experiment" because it may not pay off. But it is worth a shot. And it's not just Youtube. Reddit placed two of their more embarrassing subreddits on the backburner (r/politics and r/atheism) and it's a better site because of it (although still monumentally self-indulgent). I used to lament Amazon's policy of having to purchase a product before being able to review it. Now, I wish they'd bring it back. I've seen too many rubbish reviews.

Mostly filled with idiots.  I never post my opinion on videos because I know I'll be flamed and it's pointless to debate with those type of one-sided people.  If it's a video I like, I'll usually add a positive comment and sometimes I'll get thumbs up.  Rarely get replies.

*coughs* ahem *comes out in a perfect David Attenborough voice* And here we see the wild Youtuber in it's natural habitat, the comments section. In such a dry environment they all must gather around a video to get water, but with so many Youtubers so close together conflict breaks out and predators pick off and kill the weak, younger Youtuber.

 

 

Ahem ...and that's what Youtube is about.
