I can't exactly speak for other people, but I used to be averse to them myself.  And the primary reason *I* took issue with them was because, despite their carrying the "My Little Pony" name, they had very little to actually do with ponies.  Here they were putting out MLP movies that most of the FIM main cast were barely a part of; it was a weird direction.  I did finally give the movies a look, and they weren't as bad as maybe I expected or wanted them to be.  I'm even interested in the upcoming EQG film, where EQG Dash wears a sleeveless top (that might not actually be the plot of the movie).

Handsome Jack. He was ruthless, but at the same time I can't help but laugh every time he spoke. "Hey, ah, the- these pretzels are crap. How are ya doing anyways?" that line was completely improvised, by the way, and he really was eating pretzels when he was saying that line, which made that even more hilarious.
