Inconceivable! Still no Ponies at Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards?

MLP:FiM has been around for over 3 years now, and it has come such a long way; but it has still not yet touched one place I think it deserves to be, candidacy for the “Favorite Cartoon” Kids Choice Award in Nickelodeon’s KCAs. :D

Yes, the KCA’s: Nickelodeon’s annual awards ceremony where the kids get to pick who will win the title for “Favorite TV Show”, “Favorite Book”, “Favorite Actress”, etc.

In the past, the candidates for the KCA’s “Favorite Cartoon” have included (among others) well known and groundbreaking shows such as “Rugrats”, “Tiny Toon Adventures”, “The Simpsons”, “The Powerpuff Girls”, “Pokemon”, and “Avatar: The Last Airbender”.

This year’s candidates are “Adventure Time” (yuck), “Phineas and Ferb” (a worthy candidate), Spongebob Squarepants (despite it being over milked for more than it’s worth), and Nickelodeon’s version of TMNT (I personally would rather watch other versions). Once again, there are no Ponies. :o

But, I’m certain many of you will agree that MLP:FiM would have made a better candidate than either TMNT or even “Adventure Time”. Now even though many of us are a little too old to participate in the KCAs (I don’t vote anymore); I still think you’ll all agree that MLP:FiM deserves to participate in Nickelodeon’s KCA’s. I do sometimes wonder if Nickelodeon is afraid of the likely influx of votes from Bronies all over the world and thus believes MLP:FiM is “way too good” for the other shows to have a fair chance against it.

I’m certain even Tara Strong (who just recently called herself “Queen of the Bronies” on Twitter; and I agree), who as we know also plays “Timmy Turner” at Nickelodeon in addition to Twilight Sparkle would agree that MLP:FiM should be a candidate in Nick’s KCA’s come next year.

I think we should all petition Nickelodeon. B)

Honestly I don't care if mlp is not nominated for favorite cartoon. It would just get beat by spongebob since spongebob always wins that category anyway because the awards are rigged. Though if mlp was nominated we'd just vote spam.

In 2008, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" won.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Kids Choice Awards have lost whatever credibility that it had in the past, besides mostly it doesn't matter.

I do feel however that it at least being a candidate can earn it much more recognition and respect among today's Tweens and pre-teens, which I feel will result in less bullying of child Bronies that we've been seeing lately. I can think of a couple more reasons that we should care about its candidacy.

It's fine to care if the show can be voted as a candidate, it deserves a lot of recognition. You make some good points, though Nick doesn't always do the right thing.

I concur.......I was never too fond of KCA, b/c some votes tend to be ridiculous, and bias.

Nick will either allow general or boy oriented cartoons as the nominations. FIM is a girl oriented cartoon.

When Legend of Korra was being made, Nick wanted Korra to be a male. Nick only shows Winx Club once every couple of weeks.

It's probably the reason FIM doesn't get on there because Nick is bias against girl oriented cartoons in general.

Which is odd because the creators have said FiM was supposed to be for girls and boys.

Unfortunately, I believe you're correct. The "Hey Arnold!" spinoff series was denied by Nick, because Helga was the focus.

Kids are stupid, put on the ponies .

I don't think kids are as dumb as you think they are.

Because they know once bronies catch wind of this Sethisto is gonna post it on Equestria Daily and fans will nuke the ballots just like they did everywhere else. And they know that FiM will probably beat Spongebob if that were to happen

That^ With any massively popular show carrying a fairly organized and huge fandom like we have here you run that risk. I can imagine having something like Doctor Who in the running could result in the same effect.

The only thing that matters is what Nick sees when they look at FIM.

So nick will slow heir live action shows like Sam and cat to star females but their cartoons have to star boys. This reminds me of how Cartoon Network wants cartoons geared towards immature boys because they're sexist and don't want girls shows and action cartoons.

What's also odd about that is that a female is currently the President and CEO of Nickelodeon; although Nickelodeon is owned by the new Viacom, and what they say seems to go (which has proven bad for Nickelodeon).

I can't argue with you on CN as they have become (what I consider) 'an adult swim made for children'.

I really believe it to be damn near criminal when MLP is consistently snubbed for awards like the Emmys and Annies, but the Kids' Choice Awards is something else entirely.

MLP is still not mainstream enough to be mentioned in the same breath as a show like Adventure Time or SpongeBob among anyone other than bronies, animation fans, or industry insiders. In the case of the Kids' Choice Awards, there are so many social stigmas still prevailing among kids for being so openly supportive of such a show, add to that the fact that MLP and the Hub have about half the distribution of a franchise like Adventure Time (most basic cable systems still don't get the Hub, and every single hotel I've been to since 2010 gets Nick, Disney, and CN but not the Hub), and you will see that MLP will probably never be able to compete on such a stage.

Also, the key here is that the show is run by Nick, meaning a bias toward Nick shows, and this market isn't big enough for 4 channels.

Not mainstream enough; are you kidding? I see what you're trying to say; but MLP:FiM is all over the Web, and not to mention every Toys R' Us store.

It's all over the Internet, sure, but the licensing deals that are there for something like Adventure Time or SpongeBob just aren't there, and how often do you see ponies outside of the Internet? Probably not as often as you'll hear someone quoting SpongeBob, openly talking about Adventure Time, or even wearing a Sesame Street shirt, a lot of that has to do with the social stigmas.

I personally think that it's more Brony-like to talk about the possible rather than the impossible. I also personally think you've got to check out to MoveOn.org and The Occupy Movement.
