I really hate this feeling. It happens to me when I feel like I should be doing something else? Maybe feeling empty, etc.

It depends. Some days are more productive than others, the concept discussed may be rather difficult, or/and the author's writing style makes it difficult to internalize the information. On the last point, one instance of this I noted was with two authors who wrote about a similar subject matter at length, but one author was a 19th century Austrian noble, and the other a 20th century New Yorker -- the latter's writing style was significantly plainer.

To provide more context, the said Austrian and New Yorker were economists, Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard (the latter was a student of the former), and each wrote a lengthy economic treatise, Human Action (just under 900 pages) and Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market (Just over 1400 pages). Despite the ~500 page difference, each book took me just under 60 hours to read; to a great extent, this is due to the plainer writing style of the 20th century New Yorker over the 19th century Austrian noble -- this is the difference between 2.5 minutes per page and 4 minutes per page on average.

These forums do not have a rule against bumping old threads. It comes to mind: why is this a common rule in forums in the first place? It is not something I really questioned before, but now it strikes me as an arbitrary time limit.

Current thought: I HATE BEING ONLINE ON APRIL FOOLS DAY!  The "jokes" stay up for a few days afterwards so it makes things confusing.
