Bronies In The Wild: Brony Spotting Experiences

Being a "closet" Brony, My reactions are kinda stifled. MOST of the time, I see the guy in question and kinda go on about my business: chuckling to myself as I relish the fact that there are other fans nearby.

But a few times, I'd probably give them a silent thumbs up (probably leaving them with questionable looks as I pass by with my thumbs up "Why is that random dude sticking his thumbs up at me? Srsly dude...kinda creepy...")

And I commented on two people's things in the past...both situations ended awkwardly....

I guess in the future I'll take some of the pony stuff my girlfriend gave me...maybe that'll limit some of the awkwardness.

Well, I live in Colombia.

FRIGGIN' COLOMBIA.

I'm like the only brony in the entire place.

At first, it went like this:

Me: Holy crap, you're a Brony too?! 'Mouth is open and eyes are wide'

My Best Friend Seth: Yeah, so what?

Me: Finally, someone who understands my interest! I yell to the sky.

Than it turned into this.

Me: What up dog.

Seth: Whassup.

I spotted another brony today. This was the first brony that outright broadcasted that he was a brony. Basically this guy was full of pony merchandise. I spotted him in the middle of a crowded place and was unable to talk to him.

I have only ever seen two bronies, one was on vacation, and I only knew he was because of the brony shirt, that said I only saw him shortly and my parents were with me, so being shy and a closet brony I didn't say anything.

The other time was just randomly at a store, but it was a really short time just passing by and again I was with my parents and again I'm shy and a closet brony. So yeah.

I've never associated with any bronies IRL. And don't see them that often.

There is two different girls I know who watch MLP and I've talked to, but I wasn't sure how they'd react to me watching the show, so I've never mentioned it.

I finally met a brony at my job. He moved from Las Vegas after 20 years. He's a real laid-back guy and a cool guy to hang with and chat. I was ecstatic to finally meet someone else. He wears a fedora and a trench coat, and I saw his RD backpack. I went up to him, and long story short he told me he's a brony, and I said "Really? Me too!" He hasn't seen season 3 or 4, and I told him he's missing out, 'specially after the s4 finale. He's been on since the days of /co/.

Also, he wears a Rainbow Dash belt and has RD and Scoots as well as a wonderbolts poster sticker on his 3DS that were hand drawn by his ex-gf.

But I know one's thing's for sure--I'm gonna make it easy for them to spot me.  I'm wearin my Fluttershy shirt everywhere I go now!

It worked!  I encountered my very first brony irl today!  I wore my Flutter shirt to my favorite pizza joint here, and one of the employees, a dude about my age, said he liked my shirt!  I thanked him and asked if he liked MLP.  He said he did, and I raised my fist and said, "Right here, brohoof."

And do you know what he did?  He gave me a brohoof back.

My only regret was not saying anything more.  Maybe I should have asked him if he wanted to hang out sometime or something.  That probably would have been too much.  And I was nervous, and couldn't think of anything else to say.  To that I say: (0:26)

Unfortunately, I've never met a brony in RL. Unfortunately don't want to share my pony stuff into my FB status because my friends may think I am gay and may unfriend me... -_-

But I ever did, this would scream out in my mind...

That is great news. I am curious though, how long have you been wearing the shirt before you were noticed by this person?

I haven't encountered many, only one. I was wearing my Fluttershy hoodie and this dude walked up to me and complimented it. I felt relieved I wasn't the only MLP fan at my school.

Um, that was the second time I had ever worn it out.  I'm hoping that I run into more bronies soon.  I'm hoping I wasn't just really really lucky, and that's the only one I'll ever meet or something.  I'm feeling pretty optimistic.

If in school:

Probably say something like "Nice shirt, it's about 20% cooler than mine" or something so the people around me wouldn't know.

At home:

"Wait what?"

Street, store, other random places:

Ignore. It would be strange. I'm short and only 13, the person would get worried. (Or happy, you never know with random people)

Haven't met one yet, don't think I will. I'm in a small area, hardly go anywhere, and there are absolutely no bronies at my school. Or if there are, they hide it strongly. I try to get other bronies to notice me by revealing colors of the shirt underneath my coat so people who watch the show may particularly notice. Hasn't worked. Just yesterday I wore a Vinyl shirt without a coat, nothing. My confidence in meeting someone is lowering.

If I met one though, I'll probably latch on and jump with excitement as I do anything when I see something MLP related. How would I greet this person? No clue. I'd probably be panicking and before I know it they're already gone. :/

I saw a brony with his dad at Costco once. I said "Hey, nice shirt" and smiled. He turned bright red and said nothing back. He also avoided making eye contact with me later.

I was confused.
