Twilight's Possessions

This has been weighing heavily on my mind, but I have always believed that Twilight's possessions that made her who she was (Friendship Reports, Dresses, Starswirl Costume, Books from "Trade Ya") somehow survived because they were in either her basement or in different locations.

For example:

. her dresses from the Grand Galloping Gala, the Royal Wedding and her Princess Coronation were either in storage at Carousel Boutique or in Canterlot.  I also never saw a closet in Golden Oak Library, so its likely Twilight's special occasion clothes are safe.

Speaking of those dresses, I would like to see her wear them again in certain episodes of Season 5.

.her winter wrap up vest and Starswirl the Bearded Costume was down in the Golden Oak Basement with her laboratory equipment.

.the books she mentioned in "Trade Ya," could have been at the Castle of the Two Sisters along with other books that meant great value to her.

.the former necklaces and crowns that bore the Elements of Harmony were most likely in a museum in Canterlot.

.her friendship reports were eventually returned to Celestia and remained with her in Canterlot.

Most likely, everything that Tirek destroyed was eventually restored, both magic and structure.  However, if Ponyville wanted to bring the library back, they would have to build it themselves.  It would make for a really good episode in Season 5.

Oh goodness! I didn't even think of this.

I hope all of Twilight's possessions are safe! I can only imagine how sad she would be if they were all destroyed. :/

However, she did manage to have time to grab Owlicious, so maybe she had time to cast a spell that cleaned out her entire home before it was hit?

Oh wait, the book pages. :/

Well, her personal possessions! I'm sure she had read all those books anyways, and in "Trade Ya!" she did mention how she was running out of room for all those books. ^^"

Oh wow... All that stuff must be destroyed! All those memories...

Rarity will have to make her the dress again better!

It really sucks that all that stuff has been destroyed >~<

lol ... the problem with binging is that you forget details like that. Would be a cute scene if Apple Bloom tried to give Smarty Pants back to Twilight considering she lost a lot of her possession in the battle.

Here is another thought I just had: what if the library was magically restored by the rainbow power?  This is "My Little Pony" we are talking about.  Anything that gets attacked or destroyed gets restored magically.  We saw it with the Elements of Harmony when they defeated Nightmare Moon, Discord, Sunset Shimmer and the Plunderseeds.

The moment there are defeated, everything that they done up until that point is erased (i.e. Nightmare Moon's eternal night is gone; Discord is turned to stone and his physical signs of chaos on Ponyville are returned to normal; Sunset Shimmer was reverted from her demon form and her hypnotic gaze on the students was gone; the Plunderseeds were evaporated and Princesses Celestia and Luna are freed from their prison).

So, it is safe to assume that all the physical damage that Tirek and Discord had caused would be magically repaired by the Rainbow Power in addition to all of the ponies in Equestria getting their magic and abilities back.

The library and her possessions will be back in Season 5, you will see.  Trust me, maybe Twilight will pass the library on to someone else, like maybe Trixie or the Cutie Mark Crusaders, or perhaps Twilight will have a student of her own who would move in.

However, the only reason why bronies are thinking the library was gone for good was because the library's restoration was not shown on screen.  I learned at Everfree Northwest last year that the writers can only fill in so much in a 22 minute episode.  So, it is safe to assume that Twilight's old home was restored, although it wasn't shown in the episode.

Sadly, I doubt very many of the books survived the library's destruction. If you look closely you can see a few intact books blown clear of the wreckage. but most of them were likely burnt or blow up beyond repair. The picture she kept on her mantle is probably also gone, and if any of her dresses were destroyed I don't doubt that Rarity could either repair or recreate them if she really wanted to. Though a lot seem to also forget that Spike lost all his possessions as well. The pictures of Pee Wee, his basket as well as any comic books he may have had including the one he traded for in Trade Ya.

Her friendship reports would have all been kept by Celestia and the journal was likely left at the Castle of the Two Sisters, so at least those were left untouched.

They could restore ... but in a sense it's probably the closest to killing off a character that they could get away with. Maybe they should address it that way.

Hey as long as Rarity could restore her dresses, in addition to making her new ones, I'll be pleased with that.  Being a Princess and living in a castle, Twilight is going to need a wardrobe after all for important events and those dresses better be in season 5 or else!

Come on, Rarity.  You can do it!  Do it for those bronies who like Twilight dressed up, such as me!

If the chest can make a huge fancy castle, then I'm absolutely sure the castle would contain plenty of books for Twilight (probably even more than the library). That being said, it is a bit sad that any personal possessions would have been lost, but who knows, maybe they were restored and sent to the castle.

That's my assumption.  From the looks of it, Twilight will have the second floor of her castle be a replica of the Golden Oak library and all of her most valued possessions will be reborn there.

Who knows what a little magic will do, eh?

Another option is that the books from "Trade Ya," were probably at the Castle of the Two Sisters along with the journal.

I'm against the idea of magic automatically restoring all of Twilight's and Spike's possessions. If an episode is written where something important is lost its pretty cheesy to have it all back the way it was a few episodes later.

I think it would be a lot more heartwarming if the citizens of Ponyville came out and donate whatever books and comics they can to Twilight and Spike, as a thank-you for saving their flanks. (Again)

It would be just like how the townsponies came together to help Rainbow Dash pass her test in "Testing Testing 123". Seeing that kind of love would have a lot more meaning and feels than have everything magically restored, IMO.

This can probably make for an actual episode really I think, or in some way be weaved in as a side element.  The value of the material of what was lost in said situation.

Afterall, how much of Twilight's stuff was lost after the Golden Oak Library was destroyed? Perhaps some of the stuff was saved be being in the basement or by being in a different location (i.e. the letters you mention being at Celestia's place).

We won't know until S5.  But there's an element there.

Or something like this ^

What would happen if one of those items that you listed was really lost in that battle (or more).  Why not? It's a possibility, you could then weave an element of trying to rebuild that material object again, but realize it won't be the same and that's okay.  It's really the material object that was important, it was the memories that were attached to it.  Twilight can still hold on to those.

I just saw something about the bees. He killed her bees too!

Seriously though, this is a good B plot for the season opener. Memories vs. material things. Love it.

I'm guessing that a lot of her possessions were regenerated in the new castle. Would be sad if they weren't especially when, as many have said, the ending of "Trade Ya" is taken into account.

You can count on Ponyville insurance rates to be as dependable as a funny Geico commercial.

Here is another thought I had, what if Twilight had moved all of her most valuable possessions to the Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters? It seems to have become her second home next to the library.

I don't think she did that, her valuable possessions are logically more secured in her home than in a castle where anypony can go.

Like I said earlier when I started this post, they were all possibly scattered in different locations.  So, don't get your hopes up yet.

I actually took another look at Part 2, and the castle was most likely built on the very exact spot as the Library.

Hey, its magic.  Nothing dies and if anything's destroyed, its reborn.  You're right, the library may be gone, but her possessions remain!
