Bronies as a religion and my spiritual experiences

Recommended Posts

This isn't the first time that someone considers this fandom as a religion, and it won't be the last...

Do you know at least what a religion is?

-A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence.

You can't call "Bronyism" a religion,because,just from the start,being a brony doesn't have anything related with a religion,and here's why:

-Many religions may have organized behaviors, clergy, a definition of what constitutes adherence or membership, holy places, and scriptures. The practice of a religion may also include rituals, sermons, commemoration or veneration of a deity, gods or goddesses, sacrifices, festivals, feasts, trance, initiations, funerary services, matrimonial services, meditation, prayer, music, art, dance, public service or other aspects of human culture. Religions may also contain mythology

Being a brony is just be a fan of MLP.You may contribute with your opinions, with art,or even with fan content, but you don't have to follow any rituals or behaviors to be a normal brony

I couldn't resist the chance to post this video...

Where is god during all of the day?

What about the mythology, the festivals, the holidays, the philosophy, the services, the meditations and prayers and everything else I might've missed that isn't included here?

Well as one with a Gnostic worldview, I already do this somewhat informally. Celestia being whom I thank for the warm summer's day, and lightly tapping my Rarity and Pinkie toys before I leave my apartment in the morning as a kind of personal ritual.

"Help me be productive." (I NEED that one!  ^_^ )

"Help me stay positive."

Haven't played Ace Combat, so I don't know it's spiritual resonance. That being said, I can understand the idea. Man has always had a reverence for flight, so those depicted as master of the air may resonate with some.

The faces of my pantheon include the Doctor as the Messiah, Optimus Prime as the Masculine God, Walt Disney as the Wizard and Prophet, and Miyamoto Musashi as the Paragon. However, I would advise looking at it a certain way if you intend to take this worship seriously.

"Does the character offer lessons that reverberate with you so strongly as to be worthy of reverence?"

"Is the character established within their own setting's standards to be exceptional or noteworthy?"

Jeez guys, lighten up. Troll or not, it's fun to think about. If he is serious, we should be supportive. Hey, I can think of far worse media properties to base one's faith around.

F**K Lovecraft by the by!

I'm going to do the smart thing and stay out of this. The last thing I want is to get caught up in potential online religions/cults. I'm already catholic as is.

Awwwww yeah! Catholic brohoof!

You're really silly. But okay I guess if you put that much thought into it, then it could work. But it's still a really silly and weird idea. Least ya aren't taking random occurances as things like the op. Edited by Captchet

How can you say that! Without lovecraft, where would our cosmic horror genre be?

In the null where it belongs. That entire genre's central message is "nothing you do matters and it never will." So why bother reading/watching/playing it?

To me, Yog-Sathoth and his buddies exist to think we don't matter only for us to ascend to their level and hand their be-tentacled sphincters to them!

"The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control, and not the other way around. ...."

Yeah guess what Doc?

I stand by my point above. When you get right down to it, I worship a zombie. I mean imagine if Christianity was a more recent phenomenon, you'd say it was just as ridiculous.

Let the man have his beliefs, most of us never find something that can truly be called a spiritual experience. Who cares how he interprets it? As long as it isn't telling him to gun down mall-goers I mean.  ^_^

How could this possibly be a random occurrence?

I've never believed in coincidence and I don't intend to start to.

Does that mean there aren't mundane explanations? Of course not, but one mustn't ever leave out any possibilities.

in my opinion you cannot make a real religion from something created by man. by that i mean a business a show or anything along those lines. when you worship something created by the hands of man i usually just call it an obsession. because its right in front of you its not all powerful it has no mind or feelings of its own. im not saying you are wrong im saying that you shouldnt take something someone created for money and childrens toys and make it greater than the sum of its parts.

Holy f-----s---. You can't be kidding me. Please tell me you're joking kid. No one sane could seriously think a fictional white alicorn with a colorful flowing mane and a picture of stylized sun tattooed near her rear end is trying to contact them through such events. I'm sorry if I'm seeming to come off as rude here and to repeat the words of many posters here but: Get. Help. You're taking such occurances as MLP related things that's not healthy, get a therapist or something. Celestia isn't trying to "contact" you in any way shape or form. Again I'm sorry if I'm sekng rude but making this into a religion is ridiculous but by all means be my guest if you want to. I'll just be with the people who realize how weird/ridiculous this idea is. Oh and it probably was issues with your computer with that word pad thing. You seriously though it was "an act of Celestia." Further submitting you need help.

Then what explains that kid who said ''Pegasus with rainbow hair'' On the radio then? And the static before the royal wedding? It means that the actual equestrian royal wedding happened one day earlier than earth's because that was how it was planned. And she was saying ''HELP US THERE ARE CHANGELINGS''. In some sort of morse code.

When something becomes greater than the sum of its parts, there is a word for that.

Transcendence.

Pssssst. Hey

Hail Hydra

Screw Hydra!

captain-america-baron-von-strucker.jpg

(Only decent pick I could find of Cap fighting Strucker. And yes, I have seen the movie.)

Hydra is just yet another permutation of the same evil that Cthulhu's followers, and by that I mean fans, feed off of. Hopelessness, nihilism, a lack of conviction.

Zola said it himself, Hydra was founded on the idea that Free Will was the greatest of evils. It's in their code that they do not believe in the capability of their fellow man. Just as those who honestly believe Lovecraft had it right have no faith in the capability, or even the point of existence of humanity, self-defined or otherwise.

In fact, I'm just gonna add Cthulhu and that entire, twisted, miasma of a mythos to compose my collective "devil" analogue!
