Ever hear someone say "Ugh! There's nothing good on TV!".

Now TV can play movies, games, and much more.

So obviously TV has it's advantages, but do you think PC would better source of entertainment?

My opinion:

Minecraft for the PC.

MLP episodes on dailymotion.com.

End of discussion.

So, I never watch tv now appart from sporting events. What with all the i players nowadays and stuff like youtube I never have a need to watch TV :)

TV is a waste if time, when it's on I watch it for no reason :P even when nothings on!

Computers by far. I might be a bit bias considering I'm a software engineering student, but there is plenty to be entertained by. You could watch videos, stream movies, play video games, browse the news, talk on forums, chat with friends and more.

The TV has the advantage of simplicity, you don't really have to worry about a virus infecting your television set or having to deal with upgrades (for now, at least...) it has a very specific use though: get signal, output video. A computer has a lot more potential and can do various things at the user's request, but by that token, there's more that could possibly go wrong.

(Speaking for myself though, haven't watched television since grade 7 or so)

TV as in the object or the broadcasting networks? Cuz TVs and PCs as objects are pretty equally useful. Broadcasting networks are a lot more stable these days but the fact that you don't get to decide what you watch is a killer. Plus like a million times more ads you can't skip even if you wanted to.

TV? That's still around?

I do everything by internet, and oddly enough the radio. TV bores me because I have to wait for a systematic schedule of shows I don't like.

I only ever use the TV to transfer videos from my PC to, so I can watch them in better quality, and on a bigger screen. Or if I want to play on the playstation, which is very rarely.

PC most of the time, because new episodes take forever to air where I live (back in January I watched Sherlock series 3 online because I couldn't wait for it to air in Australia in February)

Although TV has two of my biggest obsessions - Thomas and MLP:FiM, I still prefer PC.

You can still watch most TV episodes on PC plus tons of video games and just more overall to keep me entertained.

After I moved out of my parent's house eight months ago, I didn't bring a television with me.

And I don't regret that decision.

There is absolutely no reason for me to have a television, to me a PC is far superior. It's a platform with games, any show I want, and other software all rolled into one. If someone else prefers television that's fine, but it's just not for me.

I did the same

PC is my top pic, I barely use the tv unless I'm watching the news or something. The Television shows aren't exactly the best anyway, and the thing is Australia usaully get's its shows super late, so I can watch an entire season of something on the internet before it even comes out here. And half of the movies that America get's to watch we have to wait months for, so you know, PC is much better if you want things quickly.

Just about the only thing I use my TV for anymore is video games. That's the only area I feel I'd rather use the TV (consoles) than the computer. Although, I also turn on the living room TV to watch something random when I let my dogs outside. However, pretty much anything I can watch on TV I can watch on the PC, and the PC is where I watch my shows.

I remember back in the days of dial-up internet, the TV was great, but when we got high-speed internet in the house, the TV became pretty much irrelevant to me, aside from the occasional video game. lol There was actually a pretty significant amount of time (possibly two or three years) after getting high-speed internet, where I didn't ever turn my TV on (aside from for games) and lost track of what cartoons/anime/shows were airing.

  • 3 months later...

PC and TV are fine, IMO, however, I mostly stick to my PC, than i do with my TV.    Not to mention, there aren't any good shows.
