technology Help me pick out a tablet?

Okay, so right now, I own an Asus T100 which I bought due to an incredibly short-sighted thought that the poor ergonomics of the keyboard wouldn't affect me too badly. Surprise surprise, the ergonomics did and my arm hates me for it! So for months I've been looking for a more ergonomic solution as I'd prefer something lighter than my bulky laptop for college, instead leaving the laptop for travel and in case my eventual desktop is down for whatever reason. However, I've yet to figure that out. All I know is:

  • It must run Windows 8.1, because Microsoft Office and maybe some light games. Therefore x86 and not ARM.
  • It must be bigger than 10.1". This is serious, typing on a 10.1" device irritates my tendons to the point where the device is unusable and I have trouble typing even on bigger keyboards. 10.6" is the minimum screen size I will accept.
  • It must be smaller than 15.6".
  • It must be ergonomic. This is also serious.
  • I don't care what processor it runs on, Intel Atom, Core i3, i5 or i7. Just not AMD because the only ones I've seen with AMD CPUs suffer from shitty performance.
  • It must have a keyboard! Again, because Microsoft Office.
  • It must be reasonably priced. I'm a college student and as of right now I have very little money with no income aside from some federal thing... SSI, I think it is?
  • NO GLOSSY PLASTIC! I hate having to feel like I need to clean off my device every five seconds because it's covered in plastic. Why? Because it's also straining and because I spend more time cleaning it than actually using it.

So, you guys slapping my lending me a hand here?

Disregard this, I was told to get a Surface Pro 2 and looking at the reviews for it, I think I shall.

Once I saw your thread topic, I was going to say Surface Pro 2 as well.  I have two myself (1 personal, 1 work) but it is very reliable if you understand the "techy" part of it.   Ipads are more based on "entertainment" use but definitely Surface Pro 2.  May I ask, are you using it for school?

If you can wait a month, the surface pro 3 is well worth waiting for imo with its superior screen and impressively light weight.

As much as I can agree............i recommend he doesn't.  That's b/c it will have issues in the first few months after release which would be silly and a waste of money.  Better to wait and get it later when the "bugs" and "issues" are resolved.

Fair enough. That being said, it's the third iteration of the series and I'm not aware of any major issues from the first two. Besides, that's what return policies are for. :)

The 3 is just so impressively thin and light, seems much more of an improvement than the 2 over the 1.

Just my 2c.

Yes, yes I am. Hopefully this won't be so short-sighted.
