  1. There's also the slight chance the Otherspace Celestia was a prerecording. I wouldn't put it past Celestia to do that.
  2. Title: Dragon Dropped Air Date: September 8, 2019 Written By: Josh Haber Synopsis: Rarity worries she's done something to upset Spike when he stops making time for her. Watch Live and chat with us on EquestriaTV in the CMC Clubhouse
  3. Honestly, it wouldn't worry me that much, since the stated time frame is only 100 years. While a lot of the decorations have been moved around, people haven't changed that much in 100 years. They still do the same stupid stuff they did before, they just do it with different slang and costumes.
  4. Oh....oh! If dupe accounts didn't get the standard 'banished' rank, this would be *perfect*.
  5. Cons, Festivals, and Faires in general, no matter what the specialty, are having problems over the last ten or so years. Attendance has been steadily dropping across the board according to the reports I've been seeing from places like Norwescon, Gen Con, PAX, various music festivals and renfaires. (To be clear, I haven't seen any stats from this year, so take this analysis with a grain of salt.) It feels like these events are getting more and more expensive to attend, there's very little 'new' happening at them, so it's getting harder for people to justify the time off to attend. There was a bit of a glut on the market, at least in this region. To my knowledge, last year there was a general sci-fi/fantasy con, an anime con, a brony con, a furry con, a doctor who con, a star wars con, a horror con, a tabletop gaming con, a video gaming con, a costume con, a comic con, two different food festivals, more than three music festivals, SeaFaire (which I still am not entire sure what it is, but the Blue Angles show up to perform at it), five weekends of Ren Faires, six different SCA events, four pirate festivals, three different goth events... My wife was a vendor at about half of them, with the same greater group of vendors all rotating through all the events so walking into one dealer's room was much the same as walking into any of the other dealer rooms. And they were all something like $20-$60 a day to attend + hotel if you were from out of town. There comes a breaking point, and I think we hit that last year. Several of those festivals/faires/cons aren't happening *this* year as the organizers just can't justify it with the cost of venues and the attendance numbers. So will there be G5 cons? Probably, but it might take some time for the general con market to rest and reset before they can be successful.
  6. Oh, they definitely *could* do that, I just don't expect them to. Out of all their franchises, Hasbro has always treated MLP a bit more... randomly, than the rest. They seem more willing to experiment with it, which *can* be a good thing, but can also lead to weird places like 'Newborn Cuties' at the end of G3, and 'Twinkle-eyed Ponies' in G1 (which have a horrific backstory that only appeared in the UK comics, to my knowledge.) It boils down to me basically betting on Hasbro doing something nonsensical on a regular basis.
  7. I'll be honest, I will be surprised if Hasbro doesn't have IDW pull the G4 comics after the last G4 episode/telemovie/whatever is broadcast, clearing the way for a G5 comic license to run simultaneously with the new toy line/series, likely with Hasbro exercising somewhat more centralized control of the IP than they did with G4.
  8. I have a clarifying question before I give my opinion... I may have misunderstood something somewhere, but I was under the impression that the G4 comics were also coming to an end 'Soon'™ as well, as in they will last a bit longer than the series, but will definitely end before G5 officially premiers. Have I erred there?
  9. Nope. Fan-product manufacturers run on little to no margin. The stuff's expensive because it's expensive to make, in material and time-spent. Most of those vendors are making the stuff themselves, in their garage. It's not coming from big factories in China for pennies per unit. Because of that, they can't afford the cut that the retailers want through mark-up (in the case of regular retailers) or fees (in the case of Amazon).
  10. Okay, I think some clarity is needed for this suggestion, as the responses so far seems to indicate there's some confusion as to the intent... 1) Is this for a specific Roleplaying area for MLP Crossovers? At the moment there's no restriction on the Everfree RP area, so I would assume the intent is so that you can find MLP Crossover RPs more easily? There is also the Ask a Pony section that's sorta RP as well, that while named 'Ask a Pony' seems to have non-pony stuff wandering around in it. 2) Is this for a specific discussion area for the concept of MLP Crossovers? Currently these would go into Sugarcube Corners, so I would assume the intent is, again, to be able to find these topics more easily? 3) Is this for discussion on OCs that are not MLP-type characters? Currently MLP OCs are discussed in Octavia's Hall/Other Fan Works/Original Character Help, but we don't have a place set aside for non-MLP OC discussions. That's more an Everfree Forest thing. 4) Is this for having discussions throughout the forums *in character* as OCs? This is something I used to do a lot on other forums, but this forum had a rule against it as prior mods/admins/directors/founders/etc. really, really didn't like it and put a kibosh on the idea every time it came up. I don't know, given that most of the people I remember having an issue with it when I was staff aren't here anymore, if that rule could be up for discussion again.

Heya. Which parts do you need help with?
  12. Here's a weird thought: Maybe her secondary talent revolves around family, with the Apple Family being representative rather than literal? Meaning she has the talent of getting disparate ponies to consider each other like family (as per Apple definitions). For a working example, the CMC themselves.
  13. It's kinda pointless trying to keep it a secret, at least in my case. I predate the internet, so I've got stuff out there from before Online Identity Theft was invented. I occasionally use different screen names in specific scenarios, but I've been using 'Fhaolan' online for about 30 years or so. Do a search on that specific spelling and a majority of the results are very likely me, including results that reveal my real name and several old addresses. It wouldn't take too much effort to find my current address, as in order to get a job now-a-days in the IT industry, you have to have a resume online on multiple sites. If someone wants to track me down physically, more power to them. Wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last. I'm not that worried about it.
  14. High School? That would be the class of '87. Yes, 1987. McGregor High School, Chatham, Ontario.
  15. Possibly the strangest thing I've found in a public toliet was the hood of a car. Must have been from one of those land-yacht monstrosities from the 60's or 70's, as it was a substantial sheet of steel. And this was on the third floor of a mall, so it took some effort to get it there.
  16. This one's a physical board game, rather than a video game, but it's something I've been puzzled about why it does not exist already. Given Hasbro owns several game companies, I've always wondered why they don't take advantage of that with cross-product games. As a note: I'm writing this as I go along off the top of my head, none of this has been playtested or even checked for reasonableness. Basically, it's an attempt at making a collectible game out of their existing collectibles: the blind-bags. The goal of the game is to make friends, the one who makes the most friends by whatever the end conditions is wins. The base game starts with a bunch of tiles, each tile representing a location from the show. Each turn, you draw a random tile and place it, much like any other tile-drawing game. This tile indicates how many ponies are in that location, and any modifiers to gameplay in that location. (Some may make it more difficult to make friends, or easier, or make things more complicated.) If you want to plan for tile expansion sets, you could have the base set be Ponyville locations, with Canterlot, Manehatten, etc. as expansions. Each tileset has a recommended number of blind-bags to get as well. This will get expensive as you get more sets, but that's capitalism for you. Next, all the blind-bag ponies get a small card with a description and some simple statistics like 'friendliness' and 'movement', and maybe some kind of quirk for a more advanced game. Since these cards don't exist yet, they are available on the Hasbro MLP website for downloading. One of those blind-bag ponies is your playing piece, you move it around the tiles, up to your movement statistic. The rest of the blind-bags you own are randomly drawn from the 'stable' to place on the tiles as indicated. You land on a tile with ponies, you can 'make friends' by rolling against their 'friendliness' score, modified by the tile you're on, one at a time. If you fail, you have to stop there, even if there are ponies you haven't tried to befriend yet on that tile as your turn is ended. Any you succeeded to make friends with, you take off the tile and put in your 'herd'. This is your score. Game ends when one player gets 'x' friends, or the tiles run out, or something like that.
  17. Behind the scenes? If they were more in front of the scenes, they'd be standing in the orchestra pit.
  18. Cue episode where they reveal Granny Smith has actually been dead for years. That's why she was present at the founding of Ponyville, which was actually *hundreds* of years ago...
  19. Cummins. Been using a Dodge 3500 HD as our main truck for hauling since 2001. We used to haul horse trailers from Seattle to LA and back for jousting shows, as part of a convoy of mixed vehicles. We got fractionally better millage out of the Dodge than the Fords did, as it seemed the Dodge was rigged for distance hauling while the Fords were rigged for high-weight, short-term power. And don't get me started on the gas versions. Diesel all the way for hauling. Honestly though, it wasn't the engine that sold it to us at the the time, it was the brakes. When you're hauling horses up and down the Cascades, I'm more interested in being able to *stop* when things go wrong, and the Dodges at that time had the best brakes in their class.
  20. Possibly, possibly. Honestly Hasbro lost the hip kid toys back in the late 70's, when that market went to remote control/programmable models (now drones as you say, but before it was RC cars, airplanes, and the like. Heck, I remember 'Big Track' being the must-have toy in the 80's.), kits (electronic and construction), board games/video games, and movie-tie-in crap. They've been playing catch-up ever since. They spent all their effort in the 90's adapting to the 70's market shift. So right now, they're probably still working out how to adapt to the market shift of '00. Twenty years behind? That sounds about right for a corporation.
  21. Here's the weird thing I noticed recently; according to various market analysis I've seen, the Retail Toy market is in decline, peaking in 2017. However, the Market Value of toys is still going up, especially in the subset of 'Collectible Toys' (which is where MLP should be sitting.) So, they're selling less toys, but people are supposedly willing to pay more for toys. So what I *think* this means, is that the toy manufacturers aren't stepping up and need to stop making 'lowest bidder' products. Improve the quality of the toys to match what people can get via the custom gray-market, and people will buy them. However, Hasbro has put so much effort into *not* being a manufacturer and instead being an IP holder & distributor, I don't know if it can make that transition into quality control.
  22. It was a feature these forums used to have, before a software upgrade removed it. People have been asking for it back again, but the actual developers of IPS have refused to put it back in. @Jeric put the list thing in as a stopgap measure, just to see if it would fix it without getting developers involved. Response has been mixed.
  23. Part of this I can help with, though it's not ... intuitive. I'm hoping they can come up with a quicker process later. If you go to your profile, and click the 'See my activity' button that's on the bottom right of the so-called 'cover photo', you'll be sent to a page of your most recent posts. On the left side is a big list of different 'databases' the forum uses. It's not sorted in any useful way, unfortunately. "Character Archive" is the old Everfree character database, some distance below that is 'Equestrian Empire Character Archive' which is the old EqE database. If you scroll about 3/4 down, there should be a 'Pony Roleplay Characters' entry. Click on the characters below that, and it *should* list all your character sheets.
  24. Last time I was aware, you had to have a YouTube channel, have at least 10 videos on MLP content, have at least 150 subs, and be known well enough by a current member of the Rift to sponsor your membership to whoever is the gatekeeper admin currently. Some of them used to hang out here, but I haven't seen them in awhile. I think they're all a bit busy with end-of-show content production and trying to work out what to do next, since a lot of them now are producing content for a living.
  25. My opinion, overall fine. I liked the slower pacing, a lot of the regular episodes would have benefited from the extended running time this special got. However, I have to ask: Was the sound 'off' for anybody else? There seemed to be several points where the sound reproduction of my recording was very... poor. There were a couple of points where it sounded like some of the Mane 6 got dubbed by stand-in VA's. Especially some short bits from Pinkie. And the songs sounded like their dynamic ranges were vastly cut, with no base at all and some top missing as well. That last song really sounded weird, like it was missing a lot of layers.
