  1. I don't think it's a fair comparison to make, honestly. Comic books and television are diffrent in the way they operate and entertain. But hey, if you want to get analytical about it: WHY THE SHOW IS BETTER: Larger amount of content over a short time span. It's the show that he comic book is based off of. Everything the show does affects the story of the comic. While the comic may be canon (I think), they can't really have any game-changing storylines or character development. Has moving images and sound and what not. More slice of life, which is what FiM is best at. Less papercuts. WHY THE COMIC IS BETTER: You get a comic every month, as oppoused to having to wait during a hiatus. Writers and artists are allowed to get much darker than the show can (at least right now). A crap ton more refrences. More epic storylines and action sequences. Constant cycling of talent creating content to give each story a unique flavor as oppoused to one team that has to write each and every story. [Wishful thinking] There's a lot more opportunities to create spinoffs and panda-tossing fan-centric content. A seond micro series focusing on popular background characters would be boss. Just sayin'. As wonderfully as the comic has turned out, the show is just better by default. But again, It's a bit pointless to compare the two.
  2. Ya kiddin' me? Applejack's hat is the only correct choice! It's the source of her mystical powers and really ties her head together.

  4. Been noticing a lack of thread about the last issue of the comic and the story arc as a whole (there's that poll comparing the show and comic, but that doesn't count, I think. I dunno, don't hurt me). So, here's a thread. Overall, The Return of Queen Chrysalis was pretty darned good. It captured the tone and writing of the show, it has great artwork, the characters are spot on, and it's a good introduction to the ongoing series (as well as a good introduction to people who have no idea why a bunch of grown men are watching My Little Pony). It wasn't perfect, mind you. The section where they turn on each other was pretty lame (though at least they straightened things out by themeselves fast), I have no idea what exactly caused the Chrysalis-stopping magic blast at the end, once again it's Twilight who has to save her friends (I love you Twilight, but could someone else please be the main character for once?), and some of the panel layout was a bit obtrusive. But It was fun enough that I could ignore the very few negatives. So, again, not too shabby for a opening arc. 8/10 Some random thoughts: Spike is a badass. Dude now has a stain glass window and a medal/eye patch combo. This comic got really dark, didn't it? Maybe a bit too dark. Anybody who takes notice of my posts are probably sick of hearing this, but there was totally a scene where the villain of My Little Pony bit the head off of a kitten, causing a large blood splat to fill the panel. I'm all up for scaring children (Dumbo is so awesome), but geez, guys, you think that's dark enough? I'm gonna have to ask the comic team how they got away with that at Bronycon... Speaking of which, all the wubbable kittens are dead, and all the characters are totally okay with that. Nice. That "love sucks" monolouge Chrysalis gave near the end is the stuff of villainous legends. And did anybody else get a Harry Potter vs. Voldemort vibe from that battle? No, just me? If you had told me a year ago that I would be reading a MLP comic that contained refrences to Temple of Doom, Rage Comics, Best Movie Ever Evil Dead 2, Stephen King's IT, Phantom of the Opera, and The Shinning all on the same page, and that none of it would seem out of place...well, I wouldn't believe you, because that sounds ridiculous. Cheerio.
  5. Dude, I have tossed around the concepts of both 1 and 3 in my head for a while, even down to Pinkie being the one to befriend the changeling. I also agree with Chrysalis being really hard to reform. My head canon is that the changelings could live in peace with the other races if Chrysalis didn't lead them astray and convince them that the ponies are nothing more than food. Because if you really look at her behavior in A Canterlot Wedding and the comics, she seems to be fueled not by a desire to save her subjects from starvation, but by a thirst for vengeance and need to control others (she takes pleasure in manipulating others). Kudos to you, man, you're getting a brohoof next time I get on a computer!
  6. A Tale of Four Fillies? Hope and Changelings? The One With Chrsyalis's Daughter? I dunno, I also have a problem with titles. Good idea, though. I never thought of Chrysalis having one legitimate offspring, as opposed to being the queen of an entire hive. She looks down on love as nothing more than food, so it'd be interesting to see her have genuine affection for someone.
  7. MY IDEAS!!!!! 1. Chrysalis origin story (only if it ends up that she wasn't a natural born changeling). That love poison idea would be cool, if not horrendously dark. 2. Have a changeling try to become a part of pony society, either as a double agent or for wanting to not be under Chrysalis's rule anymore. 3. Royal baby is born to Cadence and Shinning Armor, Chrysalis kidnaps it (don't know why, maybe she's just feeling bitchy). 4. Celestia trying to form a peace between Equeatria and the changelings would be cool, but only after they return as bad guys a couple of times.
  8. First of all, the room they gather in is Sweetie Belle's. While she is often seen around Rarity, Sisterhooves Social reveals that she lives with her parents in that house by the lake. Second of all, I wouldn't mind id she turned out to be an orphan, if it's handled well. Like, she's happily living with a foster parent or she was adopted or whatever. I dunno, it may be feels-overkill if they go with Lauren Faust's "Scootaloo is handicapped" idea (which I hope they do, because that would allow for some great writing, right there).
  9. The IDW comic actually provides a canon explanation of what happens when the changelings take over an area. They immediately feed off the populace's love (I'd assume they use less blunt infiltration tactics for high level security regions like Equestria), keeping some alive to feed off of in the long run, assimilate the local environment into a makeshift changeling kingdom (i.e. like the martians in War of the Worlds except with cocoons instead of red weed). This implies that there is no actual changeling country; they're nomads that move from country to country, stripping each of its resources before moving on to the next. One interesting (and disturbing) detail brought to light is that the changelings don't only feed off love. Let's just say that those carnivore teeth ain't for show...
  10. I too want a Nightmare Moon Begins episode. I also want to see Chrysalis return, but as a straight up villain a few more times. Over time, it'd be great to see her become more three dimensional, maybe even sympathetic (the head canon involving her being the love poisoned princess from that legend is pretty gnarly). But they'll have a hard time doing that after her actions in the canon comic book, which serves as a sequel to A Canterlot Wedding. In just three issues, she's attacked Ponyville and turned everypony into zombies, kidnapped the CMC, has on multiple occasions tried to kill the Mane 6, and had her army feed off a town of wubbable kitty-cats, cumulating in when Chrysalis chomping off one of the kittens' head. In front of the CMC. Resulting in blood splatter... ...don't know how they got away with that.
  11. It's heavily implied in Apple Family Reunion (and has been confirmed by the writers) that AJ's parents passed away some time ago. If I were to guess as to what they were like, i'd say that they like apples. As for the theory that Fluttershy's relationship with her parents is not good, I'm reluctant to even consider it because it's such a potentially dark subject that I don't think the writers could (or even want to) go anywhere near it.
  12. 1. I have no idea. Probably going to be some dude/dudette that requires alicorn intervention. 2. Well, it's definitely going to elaborate on what being a princess entails. Hopefully. And with 26 episodes, the writers have more room for each character. Will we ever learn what Starswirl's intentions were? Will Scootaloo be revealed to be handicapped? And an orphan? And the reincarnation of Cthulhu? Will Spike get the girl? Will Rainbow Dash ever finish her Mary Sue fanfic? Will Celestia do something useful? Only time will tell... ...(ominous)
  13. Cloud Chaser Flitter Snowball (or Roid Rage, or whatever we're calling him now) Can't wait for this to get moving. To quote Best CMC, "I'm liking this idea".
  14. Twilight: Lesson Zero Rainbow Dash: Wonderbolts Academy. Applejack: Apple Family Reunion Best Pony: Tie between A Dog and Pony Show and Sweet and Elite. Fluttershy: Hurricane Fluttershy (the episode that introduced me to the show). Pinkie Pie: Too Many Pinkie Pies! Group episode: Best Night Ever. Spike: Secret of my Excess CMC: Hearts and Hooves Day.
  15. I'd think he'd fight Chrysalis, but only after Equestria has been taken over. He finds order and law boring, no matter which side it's on.
  16. If we're being unrealistic: Realistically, I'd think a miniseries focusing on some High Fantasy stories from the period between Luna's banishment and the first episode would be boss. You know what? Just do Equestria Prevails.
  17. I think it's too early to get into specifics of the plot, but it does feel like the show is gradually buinding up the mystery surrounding this character. Whether it was on purpose or not, Starswirl's field of magic has thus far pretained to reshaping destiny and fate (time travel, anamorphism, cutie mark rewriting, possibly age spells), which is a strange route to take in a culture that considers having your fate branded on your behind the ultimate sign of adulthood. Intresting, especially when you consider that Starswirl was also ignorant to the magic of friendship, i.e. the defining aspect of this universe The writers recently said at Unicon that they have no real intentions for Starswirl, but it's possible that they're just foolin'. Only time will tell...
  18. Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah, the intro set to "Go Take Flight" (the Italian song's title translated to english) is basically just a simple PMV montage. Animation made just for the opening is a must. But I really love that song. It's alot more exiting, and it just gets me more pumped for the episode than the song we curretly have, but that's just a personal prefrence. I guess the idea I'm getting at is that we need a song that better fits the "all-ages-slice-of-life-fantasy-adventure" vibe of the show.
  19. Yeah, it has to be Discord, if for no other reason than that the alternatives suck. You're a slave if you'e working for Sombra, I'd assume being a changeling involves painful assimilation and working for a total bee-yotch, and Trixie would probably just be irritating. At least eternal chaos comes with choclate rain.
  20. Well first off, use this, but in english. Second, yes to more background ponies. Third, a Powerpuff Girls style showcase of the villains would be sweet. Fourth, the CMC should have a more significant part in the intro. Fifth, the group photo should have all of Ponyville, with the Mane 6 up front. Also, @ Jack Durango, is it offical that Derpy isn't in S4? If so, that's a bummer.
  21. I don't think it's obvious that he was trying to rule over other ponies. Heck, it's not even clear what the spell's purpose was; all we know is that it switched cutie marks, which may have been an unintended side effect. Even the writers have stated that they are unsure as to what it was supposed to do. For all we know, all this interest in destiny alteration magic was for some benevolent reason.
  22. Why is it assumed that Starswirl was before the Age of the Alicorns? Starswirl was already a respected sorcerer when the events of Hearth's Warming Eve happened, which seems to take place after Discord's reign (the flag already has the Alicorn Sisters on it, and it'd make sense for the land to be in such shambles and the ponies to be so bitter after being ruled over by the God of Chaos). As to where Sombra's banishment took place, I'd think it would be shortly after. And Luna seemed to have known him personally, given that comment she made in Luna Eclipsed. Or maybe she's just a history buff.
  23. Dude, think about it... Thus far, what have we learned about Starswirl: He was the master of Anamorphic spells. Anamorphic means something along the lines of distorting, so prehaps that means that he was good at transformation spells. He created a time travel spell, which Twilight tried to use to go back in time and change the future. He was working on a spell that doesn't seem to have any purpose other than changing cutie marks. I think it's safe to assume he was highest level unicorn, so he also had access to age spells. Whether it was intentional or not, Starswirl seemed to be fixated on magic that could change fate, a strange intrest indeed, given that pony society and culture seems to value accepance of destiny. And we also have to keep in mind that Starswirl couldn't complete that spell because he didn't understand the magic of friendship, which is also strange, since you'd think that someone of Starswirl's stature wouldn't be so ignorant to such a big part of Equestrian mythology. Antagonist or not, I want to know what was up with this guy.
  24. I think there's a 50/50 chance the show will have them get their cutie marks at the same time, you know, for thematic ressonance and all that stuff. However, I hope they don't go that route. It makes it more intresting and unpredictable if they get them seperately. Sweetie Belle will probably get hers first. The only thing holding her back is her stage fright. Apple Bloom will get hers second, for serious. Call me crazy, but I think it'll have something to have to do with apples. Scootaloo will probably get hers last if the show takes the route Lauren Faust intended (she's handdicapped and needs to accept that she can't follow the same path as her idol and has to find her own way and all the feels).
  25. I remember not too long ago (New York Comic Con, I believe) that I think someone said that at one point there was going to be a flashback episode to Nightmare Moon. Celestia is in deserate need of some character depth.
