  1. Glad you found your way here! Welcome to mlpforums. The friendliest place on the interwebs! Plenty of great memories to be made here, so dive right in and enjoy yourself No need to be nervous-cited
  2. I won't say anything other than...it's a Kalos Pokemon Some information leaked, so not surprising you don't know it. You can visit the X and Y thread to find out more.
  3. Each gym has it's own set of rules. As for having one type, it's their choice to specialize in their favorite types. The later champions balance a range of types, which shows their mastery in different areas. 1) City: The natural landscape of Kalos is inviting. I'd be happy anywhere with fresh air though. Saffron City is a consideration since I'd meet Sabrina. 2) Type: Psychic 3) Team: Alakazam, Gardevoir, and Delphox. I could call for a 3 on 3 battle in my gym, but real battles aren't turn based- and each of those Pokemon are a master in their own right. I've given plenty of thought to strategy and personalities for [humanoid] psychic types and every member of my other dream team. The challenge would be excessive, so I'd "only" require them to defeat one of the three. 4) Game/Region: Kalos for the atmosphere. Plus, it houses all known generations of Pokemon. 5) Adventuring and meeting others would be the choice at most times, but I'd fill the role for a while. Being a benchmark for aspiring trainers allows me to help them as well; however, I'm better suited as a wandering trainer (similar to Steven). I'd keep developing the bonds with my Pokemon while traveling the world. Edit: Post was a mess of in-game and anime logic. Revised to fit life in the Pokemon world.
  4. Woohoo! Forum party!! Happy forum-versary, everypony :) And congrats to Feld0 and all the staff for their amazing success. These forums are a really special place. The unity among members is the true magic of mlpforums.

      Yep :D, WOOHOOO TOGA!

  5. Not an unpopular opinion, I'm sure XD Given how all their evolutionary lines went, Fennekin's should surprise most. Chespin's second form didn't raise specific hopes for the final appearance (just an awesome armored armidillo). Froakie steadily shaped into a sleek shinobi. Fennekin's went from a sprightly spellcaster to a somewhat aged mage (with a darker coat that seems to restrict movement). Visually the strangest, but conceptually the strongest. Those who focus on psychic training typically trade their physical vigor for one reason or another. Plus, it's love of twigs and advanced pyro powers makes the name Pyre perfect for it! The theme has a thorough follow through. Btw, that's a really nice picture. It's closer to the color scheme I imagined. Quite similar to Alakazam's physique...which isn't a bad thing, but I prefer the distinct difference in design. Captures the full feeling of a(n) [rpg] mage whose inner fire remains unseen at most times Fairy tail mages are a breed of their own (=P). Fully cloaked and reserved in appearance, it gives off a silent sort of strength. Making it's flames all the more fearsome. Rarely seen, but especially fierce.
  6. Hahaha. I've gone from over checking posts to overlooking obvious errors Thanks for pointing that out. Something along the lines of "shows the existence of new grass type moves" was intended. Was worried about physical water and grass types due to lack of physical attacks, so hoping to see more moves balance that out a bit. Ehhh, the impulse to use spoilers has subsided. An in the moment thing I guess, lol. Certainly has a demure demeanor; especially compared to it's previous form. I imagined a more majestic look, but wasn't really rooting for it. It's mage form feels right for a psychic type. Sleek and strong...a tad like Alakazam. I'm looking forward to raising it.
  7. Thanks for sharing this. I really like what I'm seeing. Not just the forms, but everything else as well....opinions below Well, you went and said it, so...a "no spoiler" response: yeah. Their all the worst fear of the other. Each doubly weak to another....THE WEAKNESS HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!
  8. Similar reasoning to why I use Karu. It just works. Gardevoir's description in the Pokedex made me consider it more than anything. It's power peaks when protecting it's trainer; enough to create a miniature black hole. It will give its life to protect its trusted trainer. A really powerful love. The design is graceful as well, so the concept seems to suit it. I feel as a similar concept may work better than this particular one though...we'll see. As for the gender factor, I was compiling a list of female and male names for each Pokemon; now, I don't really care what gender it is. The name just reflects its nature and/or concept, so I'm not differentiating too much. Malamar reminds me of Ursula from The Little Mermaid, so that's probably the name it's getting (male or female). Mega Charizard X...didn't see that one coming, lol. Has me wondering how many variants there are for the others, too. As it was mentioned, the distinction might be the physical and special boosts to each form. That wouldn't work particularly well for some (unless they boost the top two stats- like Venasaur gets defense boost in X and sp.defense boost in Y); may also be an exception, but can't be sure. I'm leaning towards a trend...not sure how it'll be pulled off though. Literally a game-changer. In light of Mega Charizard X, a variation rather than separation seems to be the trend. If they were just separated though, I'd imagine Gallade and Gardevoir wouldn't have appeared on the same list. Perhaps something was lost/added in transition(re-typing the list) or maybe the leak was fabricated. Whatever the case, we'll have a lot of information after the games release. They've put a lot of effort into it these games, so I'm sure it won't disappoint. Most of those icons will probably receive Mega forms.
  9. Haha. If it's not the list, it should be XD It feels right I recall Dunsparce was impressive in a later version. A solid wall with roost and other great moves. Will be nice to see him get some more love. And yeah. There are a select few Pokemon that I've settled on a name for: Alakazam is Satoru, Lucario is Noboru, Clefable is Mavis, and Gengar is Zeref. The last two are from Fairy Tail; reflecting the (speculated) relationship between both pairs. The others are the japanese name and surname I've used in other places. I'll likely name myself Karu as usual; Starlight doesn't suit the context of the game quite right....might convince myself otherwise though. Naming Gardevoir after Princess Cadance is another consideration, but having Cadence fight feels strange If I view it all as friendly competition it's easier to use those names.
  10. Thanks for sharing this list. It's awesome seeing who Mega evolves. Quite a few names I'm especially excited to see. They covered the iconic one's pretty well. Everyone on my psychic team gets one (save for the two from Kalos), so I'll have fun alternating Megas. Only thing left is to decide on their names.....that's always the hardest part
  11. Deciding on nicknames for my Pokemon is the hardest part. Toying with some ideas now to avoid prolonged pauses during X and Y.

  12. That's the heart of a master trainer. I didn't develop that level of love for them until recently. Despite playing every version (save for Platinum, White, and White 2), following the anime, playing the card game, Pokemon birthdays, and being Ash for Halloween, I never considered myself a "Pokemon fan"....I probably didn't think in those terms as a kid though. I just did what I liked. Looking back, it's quite a presence in my childhood. After beating the main story and completing extra tasks, I didn't know what to do with it. Would either stop playing until a new one came out or the urge to restart arose. Even in the more recent games (after I learned about EVs and the rest), battling other trainers wasn't on my mind. Had some well-trained partners in Black, but gave it to a friend. I still have Black 2 though, so a few are around. For the most part though, I'll have a fresh start in Kalos; where I'll debut as a life-long trainer. Having a super storage system will help big time! I'll enjoy re-catching them all. The new features really help nurture the connection between trainer and Pokemon. Many ways to play and grow. It's something special alright. Passing on your Poke-pals sounds solid. Bridging the gap between generations on an even larger scale. A meaningful memento for a fellow fan. Hard to imagine what form the games will take by then, but we have the means to keep our Pokemon around. Long live Pokemon!
  13. Definitely agree with you there. I spent a lot of time creating alternate teams (psychic, ghost, and many other), but none remain to show for it Transferring Pokemon between games wasn't something I did. Plus, I restarted most of them when I felt bored. Now that online battles have more appeal, and everything's amplified in X and Y, I'll be recreating all my ideal teams..and then some. It's gonna be awesome! EDIT: Thanks for identifying that typo, Tomoko!
  14. One's that have stood out the most: 1) Gon Freecss (Hunter X Hunter) 2) Mavis Vermillion (Fairy Tail) 3) Itachi Uchiha (Naruto) 4) Keima Katsuragi(TWGOK) 5) Simon the Digger (TTGL) 6) Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass) 7) Urahara Kisuke (Bleach) 8) Red-haired Shanks (One Piece) 9) Nate Rivers (Death Note) and Lawliet L (Death Note) 10) Tachibana Kanade (Angel Beats) The order represents the impression they've left on me and my captivation with their concept. Honorable mention to (virtually) every character in Hunter X Hunter
  15. More or less, the hype just reflects how popular they are with those people. When someone declares something "the best", I interpret that as "my favorite". If they love gen one that much, let 'em celebrate it. There are those who bash later generations within that celebration, but it's their loss. If they can't find something worthwhile beyond it, that just limits their enjoyment. Hating one based on love for the other is empty, but that's a topic for another time. Anyhow, it's too bad that Alakazam won't receive one. He would've been the elite sweeper on my psychic team...well, more than he already is I haven't followed the news in too much detail, so I'm not sure on specifics. Looking forward to whatever else they have in store for us.
  16. Gen 1 is where it all began, so there's always gonna be lots of love for them. It laid the foundation for all future versions and was the first region where many were immersed in the Pokemon world. Sure, it can seem over-hyped by some adamant admirers, but that's goes for just about anything. Alakazam's my favorite from gen 1, so a Mega evolution for him would be awesome XD As for the Kalos Pokemon being left out, it's for the best. Mega forms would overshadow their debut in X and Y. Only after we've grown accustomed to, and appreciate them on their own, can Mega evolutions work their magic.
  17. It's awesome to see what another medium can do! Makes me want to dive into it, too. The power of plushies can be felt from the pictures, but the process of producing one will certainly increase that appreciation. All the best as you learn the art.
  18. I usually savor my meals. 1) You can fully appreciate the flavor of the meal. Although eating quickly to sustain the flavor is a common impulse, the full effect comes from slowing down. 2) Feel full from less food. 3) After years of scarfing down meals and spamming certain snacks, there are often repercussions when I speed eat. When eating with others, I'm always the last to finish. Mainly because I don't coordinate talking and eating very well, but it happens during quiet meals, too.
  19. It's certainly his means, but the purpose of his chaos may have a deeper origin. Assuming he wasn't born the spirit of chaos seeing as even Celestia had a childhood, his motives arose from past desires. Developing their character rather than assigning it makes for a better story (although I'd still enjoy the opposite here). Anyhow, everyone acts in the way that grants enjoyment. Discord loved to watch/set things in motion. It was boring when the world stood still. As he put it, "What fun is there in making sense?". On this point, I'll disagree with you both. Having the world reach a state of harmony, in the Equestrian sense,- not stagnation as you seem to view it- is the inspiration. Discord came to realize the magic of friendship and found something fill the void. He spread chaos for entertainment; he had nothing else. Had he stopped relishing in it for any real time, he'd realize how empty it all was. A means without an end....it had to keep going..for it's own sake.
  20. @@Zygen, There are finally enough dual psychic types that I really like to make this team a reality. I have an ideal team that balances a bunch of other types, but that'll come later. With all the new features, it should be a cinch to raise your Pokemon well; especially if they reduce/remove the impact of natures and IVs. Seeing the super training options gives some hope for that outcome, but we'll have to wait and see. I don't usually place legendaries on my team, but could make an exception for Mega Mewtwo Y. Most the others probably lack a Mega evolutions, so it won't be TOO unfair. As for the Nuzlocke challenge, I've never attempted it either ;p During my first-ever playthrough of Pokemon Yellow, I was oblivious to Pokemon Center. Just used potions to heal Got worried after I ran out of PP, but my cousin got me on track. That's about as close as I've come to it though. Doublade seems pretty cool to me, too. Nice concept and color scheme.
  21. After revisiting the news on X and Y, I've decided to form a full psychic team (probably after the main story). Quite a few new faces and typings that'll make make it work. So with that in mind, I'll switch to Fennekin as my starter. On a somewhat related note, Mewtwo's mega evolution has me wondering....what are the merits of Mega Mewtwo X? Fighting/Psychic is an interesting typing; trades the weakness to Dark for a weakness to Flying and Fairy while gaining the power to handle many other opponents (rock, steel, ice, normal, ice and dark). The increased attack stat doesn't feel right for Mewtwo though. Granted, it's still more than strong enough to rely on those legendary stats, but what physical psychic moves can it learn? Psycho Cut's pretty good, but don't moves like Psyshock and Psystrike draw from the special attack stat?
  22. Two weeks to go! After catching a good glimpse of the gameplay, I became really excited for it's release. In light of new information though, I'm reconsidering which starters to select. Initially planned to choose Froakie and Charmander (for aesthetics and nostalgia, respectively), but now the combo of Fennekin and Bulbasaur is what I'm leaning towards. Froakie's known attack seems to shift between physical and special attacks. Since it's only advisable to augment either attack or sp.attack, only half those moves can be used at full power. Fennekin's move set shows plenty of great fire and psychic moves; all utilized at max power from high sp.attack. It's one of my favorite typings, and the mage concept is growing on me. If I go with Fennekin, I'll get Bulbasaur instead of Charmander. Mega Venasaur seems really resilient; and despite my minimal use of grass (and water) types, I love Venasaur for a couple peculiar reasons
  23. Eenope! I eat meat pretty often, but it's my least favorite food group; and with fruits being my favorite, there'd be no need to adapt. I'd indulge! With fresh fruits available at any time (bucked right off a tree), I'd be set. Oats and veggies are great, too. I genuinely enjoy a plate/bowl of fresh spinach...come to think of it, I've yet to find a food I dislike.
  24. My profile remains misaligned. The text won't remain on either side. Only centered just so.

  25. Good feels emanating from each section (save for that selfish shellfish Best one yet
