  1. Yes the war in afghanistan was offensive we were attacked by a group that was operating freely out of that country and it was an act of war. The reasoning behind the iraq war was a little more vague with the whole wmd thing. So no they werent defensive battles but when there is a threat you fix the problem you dont just leave it be. I would have to say the civil war we fought was a pretty devastating war that was fought here. Also im not sure german costal defenses are the best example of not going on the offensive and strictly having defensive measures since they helped start wwI and were the main cause of wwII. But at the end of the day everyone here is going to have a different opinion on serving, reasons for going to war, nationalism and the like. im glad this has all be a civil debate is refreshing from the usual internet debates that spiral into an insult match
  2. haha your preaching to the choir on that one. im an engineer so im pretty precise on everything. i actually just bought a nice bottle of zymol wax for my car 80 bucks for one bottle lol its amazing stuff though. good luck finishing the novel! ill be sure to check it out if you post it up!
  3. The main problem i have with the us policy in afghanistan *besides the morons who take pictures with dead bodies and burn korans) its that we went in without a clear plan. we pretty much pulled another viet nam strategy wise. After the taliban was put out of power we just set up our bases and went out on patrols. If we had just steam rolled them into a corner right from the start things would have been more successful sooner we gave them time to regroup and to gain new members from the stupid crap we would do (koran burnings for example) but i have to disagree on us losing afghanistan now i wont say it was the most successful military campaign we've had but the country is better off than it was before. maybe not a lot better but something is beter than nothing. When my brother in law got back from this last deployment he showed me all the letters he got from afghan's, not people in power even but regular people in his area of command thanking him and his troops for what they have done and for making their lives better. Were we perfect? heck no trying to occupy a country and fix as many problems it has is a obnoxiously difficult task. just look at how long we had an occupying force in germany after world war 2. Plus it doesnt help when pakistan who is supposed to be our ally is harboring and arming the people we are fighting. I agree with you on the second poing out policies of the past couple decades were terrible. (Thanks mr kissinger!) and of course we supported the mujahideen. after the russians helped give us a nice black eye in viet nam the us jumped on the opportunity to do it back was it the best decision? probably not but all we can do now is not make the poor decisions of the past
  4. i could use an extra pair of hooves for when i detail my car maybe it would take 10 hours then lol. Sounds like my type of novel btw!
  5. Give it a year or two and they will be. things are alot better over there than what your here from the news. Parts of the afghan military are pretty good now just needs a little more training for the rest and they will be able to keep the country secure on their own. If they left now it would go back to the same hell hole it was before

  12. They still are the typical soccer mom/ old people car thats the reason for the rep. i drive one sometimes whenever i need to haul stuff that wont fit in my mustang and isnt really heavy enough to waste gas with the truck. Still feel a little lame driving them. But that being said every car has good and bad raps with different groups i cant think of a single car everyone likes. As long as it gets you from A to B and you like it thats all that matters! personally if i have to haul people and stuff around in the future ill buy me a nice 60's station wagon with a big v8
