  1. I am an atheist. Agnostic atheist to be precise, as I am a scientist and am aware that absolute rejection of the hypothesis of a god also demands proof. I was raised a fundamentalist pentecostal Christian, but a literal interpretation of the bible is not in concordance with what I can see in the world with my own eyes, so the first step in my deconversion was to abandon the literalist aspects of christianity. However, abandoning biblical literalism is a pandora's box. If the bible is not literal, but rather, open to personal interpretation, then the bible cannot be the inerrant word of god. And if the bible is not the inerrant word of god, why should I believe any of it? Throughout history, there have been thousands of deities. How one can be certain their god is the one true god when they have never learned about the many, many other gods is beyond me. Contradictions and historical inaccuracies aside, the moral content of the bible is also highly questionable. Genocide, murder, sex slavery. Even if I assume the Christian heaven and hell are real, I would rather burn than worship the christian god (or any of the abrahamic gods for that matter). My beef lies not in people's personal spirituality, but in the imposition of religious belief on government and education. I am happy for those who find genuine peace in religion. But I am unhappy with those who fail to understand that it is also possible to find immense peace and meaning in the rejection of religion, and those who cry persecution at every attempt to encourage objectivity in the spheres of public life.
  2. Even if it handled correctly, it is not the greatest plot device because it is predictable and rather unoriginal as I've already said. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see how they decide to end the series
  3. Might be the fevered dreams of a madman, and idealistic, but I'd like to make the world a better place while I'm here. That's mainly what I stay alive for
  4. Habanero chilli seeds I've been meaning to plant
  5. I wish I were better at small talk. All my life I've hung out with people in similar lines of work to myself, and so I sometimes find it hard to communicate with other people I meet.
  6. To my left, I see chilli flakes & a teapot. I love this thread.
  7. Edit: Twilight worked hard to become a princess, and studied for many years under Princess Celestia. To me, it'll be disappointing to see the others transformed into alicorns without equivalent feats in their own respective elements, and without a close & personal bond to Celestia (which there currently isn't). And so the Mane 6 becoming alicorns is not only highly predictable but a lazy, unoriginal way to end the show, hence why I think it will be a terrible plot device. It's just my personal opinion, which I am entitled to
  8. Halo 1 - 4 on Hard. Never going to beat it on legendary though
  9. Pomelo! So juicy. I acquired a serious taste for it when I lived in South-East Asia, but have a hard time finding it here in my homeland, except in botanical gardens where it's a criminal offense to steal the fruit. Boo. Also lychees, mangoes, blueberries, golden kiwifruit & tomatoes.
  10. I love sour stuff. I put vinegar on way too much of my food Also, chips (the crispy kind) dipped in strawberry yoghurt.
  11. I think it would be a terrible plot device to have the Mane six become alicorns, but I have a bad feeling it's going to happen. It kind of makes sense for Twilight to become ruler of Equestria (not sure how else her character will develop), and it doesn't make sense for her to rule without her friends. Also, it's my understanding that alicorns age at a much slower rate than other pony races, which means Twilight will live much, much longer than the other five unless all become alicorns.
  12. A bag of pears I bought at the grocery store today.
  13. I'm agnostic. I was raised in a Pentecostal Christian family, but wound up becoming a scientist, and so I tend to appreciate logic & the physically observable rather than the Bible which was edited, altered and compiled in a subjective and somewhat arbitrary manner. Just as there is little physical proof supporting Christianity, I cannot provide definitive evidence of no God, and so do not identify as atheist. If there is a god, I most certainly believe it is beyond our comprehension. On an emotional level, religion has only ever been a point of alienation and division for me. Both of my parents are pastors, and they spend all their time lecturing and fighting with me, rather than taking a legitimate interest in my wellbeing and life. The fundamentalism they preach is essentially hatred and intolerance under the guise of 'following Christ', and I'd rather have nothing to do with it.
  14. Artwork from the IDW comic series. Celestia is such a beautiful pony, inside and out!
  15. Of the Mane 6, Twilight is my favourite. She loves logic, and this really appeals to me. Princess Celestia & Luna are my favourite secondary characters. I find Celestia a little boring in the show, but I love the way her character is developed in the IDW comic series (I know this is about the show, but still). In the comics, she is a real pony of the people and a wise and gracious leader as always, but some of her emotional vulnerabilities become evident, making her much more relatable. Luna's my all-time favourite. She's quirky, a little uptight, sweet, and almost completely out of touch with day-to-day happenings in Equestria. Love her.
  16. Yep, I eat a lot of vegetables, fresh & cooked. I was once a poor uni student and veggies are cheap, and the habit has stuck with me ever since.
  17. My all time favourite album is Images & Words by Dream Theater.
  18. I believe Celestia has only been released in Australia so far - just a few days ago, or so the people at Build-A-Bear told me yesterday. Hahaha gravity-defying ponies they are indeed - although fatalities are frequent, as you would imagine...
  19. Some beautiful Luna artwork, again from the IDW comics :comeatus:
  20. Luna sure loves cake! ...and has a pet opossum lol (who also loves cake it seems...) From the IDW comics.
  21. I know that Nightmare Moon isn't Luna, however, I don't believe her transformation back into Princess Luna has made her forget the dark magic (dunno what to call it) she utilised as Nightmare Moon. I don't know whether Celestia or Luna would win during a fight - Celestia appears to be more experienced, and is the main target of villains such as Chrysalis, though in an all-out fight I do not doubt that Luna would use dark magic against her sister.
  22. I like Coco Pommel a lot! She isn't my favourite pony, but she is very cute and above all a kind and sweet pony. She's simply adorable, and that's my explanation
