  1. @@Alex Van Gamer, The quill tapped upon the table rapidly as the young unicorn looked out over Ponyville with a quizzical expression. It had been ages since he'd managed to sit down and actually write out his notes. He tapped with increasing speed as he considered how best to word this next paragraph. Ponyville is unique, he wrote. Of all the towns I've come across in my travels of Equestria, the balance between the pony races it seen at its best here. The ponies of this town, while having their disagreements for the most part get along and merely attempt to live day to day as best they can, often with one another's help. Everyone here knows each other and is willing to help each other. It's quite interesting, to say the least. Even in Manehattan, as diverse as it is, tends to have problems with ponies keeping mostly to their own cliques. Here, that appears to be much less of a problem, perhaps due to the smaller size of this town compared to that sprawling metropolis. Glacies brought his quill to his chin and tapped the feather against it lightly. The sapphire along the shaft shone brightly as the sun's rays caught it just right. The unicorn smiled and twirled the writing implement in the air before him, admiring the craftsmanship. He had spent a pretty bit on this particular quill, but the owner of the shop had assured him that it wouldn't split easily, as it had been gilded in silver. He smiled as he put his pen back to the paper and continued to write. He had to complete the research paper to earn his pay, after all. It wouldn't do to keep the Head Professor of Equestrian Culture waiting on his field report.
  2. @, The sun was bright today. A little too bright, according to one young stallion thought as he opened the gilded pages to his book and tried to read through the intense sunlight. With a deep sigh, he closed his book and scratched his chin. Well, reading's out until the brightness is a little lower. He wandered around for a little while, eyes glancing through the crowds to either side. The bookstore was a decent option, but he didn't really want to spend the bits on coffee just to be able to sit in a more shaded place and read. "Oh well," he said under his breath as he stuck the book into his backpack unceremoniously. As he walked, he noticed that there was a young mare leaning against a nearby wall chewing gum. He thought this was odd, as someone her age should have been hanging out with friends at a time like this. Likely that she works at one of the establishments here. Sad. Weekends are for free time, not for work... At least, that'd be the case in an ideal world. He walked by her as he shrugged his pack onto his shoulders and snugged them up. However, he managed to get a glimpse inside of the store she was in front of and noticed that they sold hard caramel candies, one of his personal favorite treats. He smiled a little and walked up to the door to get a better look. "Wonder if those are as good as the ones I picked up in Appleoosa. The sour apple filling was quite good," he thought aloud.
  3. Think you could take a crack at this guy?
  4. Mind giving me your opinion on this character? Anything you'd like to point out would be helpful, I'm sure. But more, I would appreciate your general opinion on the work. He's really my only character, my "ponysona," so I like getting as many opinions as I can. https://mlpforums.com/page/eqw-characters/_/approved/glacies-frost-r438
  5. Dreading going in for the opening shift this upcoming morning.
  6. Hydromancy/Cryomancy. Easy enough. I'd spend so much time with it.
  7. I have two main issues in this episode, primarily. One is Diamond Tiara's mother, Spoiled Rich, who comes out of nowhere. However, since we rarely see Filthy Rich by himself, we can assume Spoiled is out and about being a socialite and all. We don't spend very much time in the school, nor do we see PTA or school board meetings, where Spoiled serves. Yeah, she comes out of nowhere, but we can easily rationalize that part away. The second part was the... general design of the cutie marks. While they do fit a theme and have their own uniqueness to each, they seem a bit too... uniform. Outside of that and things coming to a head a little too swiftly for my liking, the usual complaints about pacing and all that, the episode was at least enjoyable for me. They did their best given the time they had. Also, maiden name Spoiled Milk... that's just on-the-nose.
  8. If you wouldn't mind giving this little guy a crack, I'd love to see your take on him.
  9. Where's the total indifference option? She's alright. She exists, she has episodes. She's aight.
  10. And Lightning Dust is often seen as a bad role model and weaker version of Rainbow Dash with a different color scheme, more attitude, and less likeability. Had the writers given her any redeeming qualities, I'd be more apt to agree that it could be done, but shoehorning in a character without any buildup, and suddenly having them be better at everything than the character the episode is about, without any look into their personality, backstory, or otherwise, always tends to shoot the story in the foot. I can only speak from personal experience, and while Lightning Dust was a useful tool for having Rainbow Dash stand up for what was right against her superiors in the Wonderbolt Academy, she was neither a likeable character nor did she do anything that was particularly amazing, aside from landing on a max power Dizzitron. Had she ended up being able to perform a trick on par with the Rainboom, it may have stood out visually, I'll give you that, but it would have been much less impressive than seeing someone work hard toward it and push him/herself past their limits in order to do it. This can be done in a one shot episode, much like they did when they introduced Cheese Sandwich, but the episode absolutely has to focus on both Rainbow Dash and this other pony in equal measure. We must want to see this pony get pushed hard, surpass their previous limitations, and do something far beyond what even they or Rainbow Dash thought possible. This could be done in a couple of ways. I'll even give an example of an easy episode it can be done with. Rainbow could be put in charge of training a lackluster member of the Wonderbolt Reserves, perhaps someone we've met before, perhaps someone new. She could push them, train them, and see them slowly becoming better. As a final test or just for a bit of fun (or both, knowing Dashie) she could have them race her. The race is neck and neck, neither pony giving any headway to the other, when Rainbow does a Rainboom and takes her speed up to eleven. In desperation, out of sheer willpower, the other pony does their own "version" and breaks through, either barely losing to, tying with, or winning over Dashie. That would be an episode I'd watch where a new trick is discovered.
  11. @@Rikifive, I have a tail reference now. Yay!
  12. Reese's Puffs is a thing, and Hershey is the distributor of Reese's... so don't they?
  13. Having another pony do something would require an episode focusing on said character in order to build up any sort of suspense. The pony can't just show up, do this incredible feat no one's ever seen before, and then just suddenly be the gold standard. We need time to see them practicing, to get to know them as a character, to care about them.
  14. The sonic rainboom is suffering from the exact same problem that the Super Saiyan transformation did in Dragon Ball Z. It's been done enough times that it becomes predictable that it's going to happen again eventually. Even increasing the number of rainbooms (or moonbows or whatever) would still render if predictable, safe, and boring. The answer isn't quite as obvious as just "add a second boom to the rainboom" to make it more special or interesting. DBZ tried that with the further Super Saiyan Transformations, and it didn't really do much. The scale of the fighting is what made it interesting. With Rainbow Dash, the rainboom being her signature maneuver might not be such a bad idea, but it should no longer be considered special inasmuch. I would love to see her develop a new technique, something that Equestria has never seen before that she's been working on since she perfected the sonic rainboom. For example, perhaps she'll develop a trick where she moves quickly back and forth while flying that she appears to be in two places simultaneously, or she could work with the trick coordinators to design a partner move with someone, something that she wouldn't be able to pull off alone.
  15. Very nice. I can honestly say I love this.
  16. I'm an extreme introvert. However, I'm comfortable with that. I have my own strengths that are easily the equal of extroverts. I don't need a million friends and acquaintances to feel good about myself. I have a close hand full of friends who I get to know very well. I prefer depth to breadth of knowledge, and I feel most comfortable either alone or with a small group of friends, maybe three or four at a time. I hate large groups, and at gatherings you'll usually find me against a wall or sitting, which helps me feel more at ease and less... surrounded. Lots of people, bright lights, and loud noises turn me off, so no Vegas trips for me. I know what I'm like and I know what I like. I'm perfectly happy the way that I am.
  17. @@Artimis Whooves, Thank you. The resemblance is there, but completely unintentional, as I do not watch Bionicle... or at least haven't since the very first movie when I was in my early teens.
  18. Having been in the situation myself, I can vouch for this. Though for me it's more of a case that desperation chases the fillies away. Also, sadly I have no one for this day... for the ninth straight year. You think it would make me a bit less sour about this day, but it doesn't. It just marks another year with no special somepony to share it with. But fear not, brave ponies, for it doesn't drag me down as much as it did seven years ago!
  19. Proudly a Scorpio! Scorpio Rising, and Aquarius Moon.
  20. Assuming I could pass this gift around as I pleased (or so long as I had the money to pay for the treatment for my friends) I would GLADLY take the eternal life route. I'm assuming that this cure would halt aging, cure all diseases, provide immunities to said diseases, the works, so you wouldn't die by "natural" means. If I could allow my extended family (ie my closest friends) to join me for the ride, I say I'd live forever... or until I get bored from having seen everything ten times. Seriously, though, I have a very long list of things I want to do, and not enough time in this life or two or three others to do it in. If my friends do not want to share in this eternity, so be it. At least it was their choice not to join me, and not cruelty of fate. I expect my immediate family would all choose no, so I'd have to make my peace with that. A good number of my friends, though? We'd be toasting with wine from this era of humanity's history as we wore our solar-proof future shades and watched the sun explode outward through our solar system, eventually overtaking and destroying the planet we once called home. After enough sheer boredom, however, I would probably simply choose the best time to end things, after tying up whatever loose ends my millions of years of life had (which might take almost as long as the life itself did). tldr, Yes, if I could bring my friends. Otherwise... probably still yes, because I want to do so many things.
  21. I'm from south-central Georgia. I speak with a slight southern accent with a drawl. However, due to speech therapy at a young age and prolonged attempts to weed my accent into something a bit less... country, I have developed a rather unique, at least in my own opinion, accent, still reminiscent of where I am from, but much more refined. It helps that I have trained myself over the years to speak in the best English I can, and that I am a grammar nazi, as I hate sounding uneducated.
  22. Gonna have to disagree on part of your opinion here. Silent Hill 2, I agree, is slightly overrated. However, in terms of the best scares, the best controls, best puzzles, and best atmosphere in the series (if a slightly lackluster story), I'm going to have to go with Silent Hill 1's true successor, the continuation of the first game's story, Silent Hill 3. Hardly anyone talks about this game, but dear Celestia to me, this game blows both of the previous two entries out of the water. As far as an original game that blows its successor out of the water... Hmm... Sorry folks, but Super Mario World is... chuckle... worlds ahead of its successor, Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island.
  23. I already own a PS4 (the uncommon base Glacier White model, in fact), so I won't be buying one. I'll be acquiring the remakes, probably, for nostalgia's sake.
  24. Tsk, tsk, tsk, Blue, I thought that we had an understanding. *opens up pool full of sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads* Twilight is my waifu. But yeah, seriously, out of many fictional characters I've had crushes on, I would say that Twilight seems to be the one I'd actually get on with the best.
