  1. I don't know. Probably milk.
  2. It really depends on how I feel. Sometimes I wear the same shoes I wear outside, and sometimes I just wear socks. It totally depends in which feels more comfortable for me in the moment and how I feel.
  3. Just a fan I guess. I don't really consider myself a fan but well... I don't have any friends here. I'm here basically because I miss being in an active forum.
  4. Why should I even care about what a desperated stupid media says about something they have no idea about by using a social generalization with no professional psychological or sociological study at all? Many shows and kinds of media tend to say these things because it's just what hits on people minds, because it's "easy to understand" but it's too far from the truth. These things have no proper study behind, it's all just to gain audience or to look intelligent.
  5. I never heard of this ambivert word. I'm not timid but I just don't talk too much, but I don't mind others talking to me or answering questions, so I don't know.
  6. If I was given the opportunity to choose, I would choose yes. Although odds are that I would feel very isolated once I go beyond the average life time, the same way now I don't feel very identified with people that are 10 years younger than me (because everyone close to my age would eventually die except for me). But I would still choose to live forever since that's not my main priority I guess. I feel I don't have anything to lose by living forever except for that detail.
  7. I don't love my country but I'm glad Valentine's day doesn't exist here.
  8. Hey, thank you a lot for sharing this. I'm surprisded nobody commented yet. I will be watching this, you have my vote. tc
  9. Basically the title. I made this today and struggled most of the time on the background. I'm finding it very hard to adapt the figure into a background, in shape and style. This one needs lot of help but I really don't know what to add or remove or change. The worst part of this background is the bushes, I failed in all my attempts to give it a proper texture. If anyone knows how to make a bush texture mantaining this same cartoonish style, I would appreciate it a lot. (If you have anything to say about the drawing itself it'll be welcome too)
  10. I'd say the only thing everyone have in common in our perception of cuteness is vulnerability.
  11. I suggest starting from "Fun with a Pencil" (Andrew Loomis) And after you read that book I'd suggest you to read "Design and Invention" (Michael Hampton) and watch this channel's videos https://www.youtube.com/user/Sycra
  12. DS1: Artorias > O&S > Manus > Kalameet. TBH I don't really like DS1 bosses. I think these are the only decent ones. DS2: lolno DS3: Sister Friede > Champion Gundyr > Soul of Cinder > Pontiff Sulyvahn > Abyss Watchers > Nameless King
  13. I recommend watching this if you are having trouble with color selection https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alx-H_Rmpvw
  14. If you are 100% new in this, I'd recommend "Fun with a Pencil" (Andrew Loomis) first. Then these things in no specific order: Sycra's Youtube videos https://www.youtube.com/user/Sycra "Michael Hampton figure drawing design and invention" book Glenn Vilppu universitary videos You should watch other people's art too and learn from them and how their art concept work. Sycra's youtube channel is the best option I can give you after "Fun With a Pencil" tbh. He also explains how you should practice and many stuff many books don't have.
  15. The time it took for you doesn't matter. Try to do it well with proper pratice and speed will come automatically. The anatomy is not well developed, as in: There's no neck below and an arm is comming from the face almost. There's no perspective, the front and back part of the body aren't well connected and don't show a proper perspective. The wing of the back commes from a different place than the wing from the front. The head is too little, you can see the horn comming from the very top of the head when it must come from the front, but both forehead and head in general aren't well developed. (Imagine the drawing without the hair/flame and you will see). You need to understand the 3d shape and forms of what you want to draw in order for it to make sense. You are commiting a very common mistake in beginners that is symbolizing parts instead of knowing how they actually are. I explain these things in more detail and more things you need in my second post of this thread, in case you are interested: https://mlpforums.com/topic/161837-art-aid-thread/ Also, for dynamic and action drawings like the one you are trying to do, you should need to practice other fundamentals first too, like action lines and depth/perspective.
  16. Practice is amongst the most important things you need, but not all, since you can develop a bad habit on it. You must learn how to practice, since there are better and worse ways to do it. From your drawings I'd say you lack the fundamentals of gestures and getting rid of symbols. The drawings you show in that thread are all front faces only though, but still. Gesture is what you do before doing the actual drawing. Gestures can be "skeleton" or action lines that determine what your drawing is doing with more fluenty and a couple other things. Most beginners try to start from the last steps, like, starting with lineart (or an attempt to), ignoring all the other steps. Since we are talking about pony fanart here, I'd suggest you to watch a lot of fanart and make a list or just save your favorite styles and try to understand their anatomy and perspective, which leads us to "symbols" Symbols are a kind of a hard thing to explain but they are basically what you identify as 2d shapes when they actually arent. Beginners usually draw noses like a little triangle or half circle, because that's how they look for them from the other drawings they see, but they actually aren't just a little triangle or a half circle, they are a 3D shape that in 2d from one perspective may look like a little triangle or half circle (these are just mere examples). You need to get rid of symbolism by understanding the 3D form of what you are trying to draw. You must visualize it in 3D in your mind. If it's all 2D for you, you will be stuck into drawing the same angles and profiles and stuff forever because you won't be able to adapt it to any other perspective because you wouldn't know its 3D form. You can fix this by practicing new angles of perspective of a same certain thing, many times (requires time and dedication). Don't stick to what it's easy for you. This video might be very helpful for this situation (I recommend subscribing to this guy) You can learn gesture by books or videos. Sycra (the guy from the above video) explains gesture and more things very well too so you can see his explanations on this too It's not that I don't want to bother explaining here, but a video (especially his) makes it easier. I've been drawing ponies since 2012 and I'm understanding styles and making my own just now (took time but it could have been way faster if I dedicated a more decent time to it though). You can see here how I symbolized their snouts and cheeks, and they don't make much sense. The connection between the eyes and the cheeks and the snouts in general were placed just where I though it was correct, but it was just a guess, because I didn't know how these things might look in 3D. And this is a newer drawing where I understood the shapes in 3D more than before. You can see how the whole shape of the face now makes more sense and the eyes are well placed and the snout is not just some little line placed over there. This would be another example of symbolism vs no symbolism (the face). I put for example the nose in kind of the middle of the face first, because I had a poorer perception of perspective. You need to learn anatomy and proportions too if you want to do full bodies right. It's not only about Gesture and getting rid of symbols, but they are fundamentals I think you should start with, and then focus in anatomy and such. The anatomy depends on what you want to draw. I wouldn't bother in learning the name of every muscle and such. Some artists prefer that, some not. Learning literally everything about anatomy helps, but I don't think it's the most effective and fastest way to learn. Cartoons are a deformation of reality. Human cartoons, no matter how unrealistic they look, they are based on realism, it's deformed realism, and same thing happens from horses to ponies, although in this case ponies also represent human features when it comes to expressions and some hoof movements and such, but this is part of learning too. Mixtures can always exist. I see in your drawings that you need to practice these things first. The ears, snouts, hair, the articles and other stuff are symbolized. This is an old method to draw human faces, but you can apply it to anything as long as you know the correct measurements for what you want to draw. There are more methods for drawing faces too, and you can always try to apply them into your art. I for example tried to understand the measurements and proportions of the faces of ponies of fan-artists to try to understand their real and 3D shape, and it helped. You must know what you are doing, and with the proper steps. Don't try to guess and go with spontaneous conclussions because that will make it harder for you and will improve very little over time.
  17. From my point of view, Sunset Shimmer is a more realistic character than all the rest. She's the only one that seems to know where to start to solve a personal problem and you can see her socializing in the fourth movie in a still much more realistic way and more straight to the point than any other of the main characters, especially on her conversations with Twilight and Flash. I'd say that's one thing Sunset has that others don't. Not my favorite character, but I liked that.
  18. I know even the MLP show has inconsistencies. We are talking about a kids/family show, but EG clearly has more inconsistencies than the show. I don't think the movies are objectively bad for their target, but if you compare them with the show, they are way more inconsistent. They have many plot holes and unfinished developement of the world and characters. They are more commercial movies after all, but I want to know what you think about it. EG is kind of more realistic since it takes place in a (kind of) human world where magic per se doesn't exist. But EG is also less realistic in many aspects, like suddenly some of the characters growing wings and no one around seems to understand how weird or magical that is. (An example would be the principal from Friendship Games that complains about the enemy team having wings and not caring or realizing of how abnormal that is in the world she lives in). Sunset Shimmer lived all her life in Equestria, but for some reason after EG1 she decides to live in this parallel world for no apparent reason with people she doesn't know (she never states a reason). I don't even want to talk about the weird things like the same characters existing in both worlds because even though I dislike it, I understand it would be too much to give deep explanations for that, but I think it was unnecessary to start that way to begin with instead of creating all new characters anyway. It just doesn't seem to make much sense how the mirrowed characters are almost the same when their experiencies in their own worlds are completely different. And well, the colors. the EG world is not the real world since they have rare skin colors and such. I know this was made to make it easier to recognize the mirrowed characters, but I don't think it was completely necessary. I would maybe accept the hair color even if it's not too realistic, but the skin color is just too much. I think the messages of the movies are good, but they lack a lot of consistency compared to the show, which makes me don't like them as much as the show, and I want to know how much people feel the same.
  19. TBH I don't consider my internet "friends" as real close friends. There are some I really like and love talking with but the simple fact of depending on a screen to communicate with them makes it hard for me to consider them real friends. It's nothing personal against them. I need real life interaction to reach the "maximum level" of it. It's easier to get the other levels on the internet, but not 100% of it.
  20. I'm far from being the best artist but I've studied for a couple years and still study from time to time so if you are new into this kind of art and want some feedback or any kind of recommendation, I'll just reply with what I've learned so far. This is not only about me. Other good artists are welcome to give advice and feedbacks and all if you want. This is just to help the very beginners... or actually pretty much anyone that needs help as long as there's people that know and want to help. TL;DR If you just started drawing and want to get better and are not sure what are you doing wrong in your drawings and are open to feedback, just ask here.
  21. Thank you all for you answers. I must say I feel identified with many regarding a couple of things. I also think it's easier to find people of your same interests on the Internet and that it's easier to make friends here because of that and a couple of more reasons (at least for me). I don't have social anxiety nor timidity but I grew up relatively isolated from some customs so it seems almost impossible for me to find people IRL as attached to me as the ones I find on the internet. And even though I admit it's easier to achieve all of this on the Internet, I still feel like it's a very empty experience compared to what it could be IRL. I'm growing fed up of socializing with friends only through a screen while time goes by in life and wanted to know how many here identify with this or don't care. The result wouldn't help me, it's just curiosity of mine.
  22. This is very interesting. Sounds obvious but I didn't see it that way until now.
  23. Basically the title. I personally prefer real life communication and interaction and struggle if I don't have it even if I can talk with people on the internet all day. I would want to know how people around this kind of forums feel about it.
