Seriously? I think she's one of the most well written stereotypically "girly" characters in anything. She's gotten the most development out of any character (aside from maybe Twilight or Rainbow). Trust me, it's very hard to make a character like Rarity likable, but the writers of this show were able to do it awesomely. She's not perfect, (her snobbishness, her selfishness, her vainness...) heck, she's one of the most flawed characters. Nobody is perfect, and her flaws make her actually relatable. I hate it when people act like if when a character has flaws it's a bad thing, when rather it makes them realistic. But her good qualities make her my favorite pony, for many reasons. She's far too unappreciated mostly because I think people tend to see her flaws more than her positives or because they say "she's far too girly to like." Since when was that a bad thing? In Applejack's case, it's not the amount of screentime she gets, because she does get a lot of it. I think it's more based on her lack of interesting qualities. Okay, I'm not saying that Applejack isn't an interesting character, but she just doesn't have any interesting "quirks"(eg. Rarity's drama queen personality, Fluttershy's shyness or Pinkie Pie...just being Pinkie Pie) or very interesting development. She's just...Applejack.

movies/tv The most emotional you ever got about a cartoon
Rarietty replied to Silverwisp the Bard's topic in Media Discussion
I was fine watching the Lion King when I was little, but the scene in Bambi where the mom dies just got me every time. Also, Dumbo when his mother was taken away from him. If were talking about newer Disney movies (because those ones are still fresh in my mind), a lot of the scenes in Lilo and Stitch, Ray's death in PATF and this one scene in Tangled. WALL-E also got me pretty badly at the end when WALL-E was broken. Also, this entire scene in Toy Story 2. Gee, I'm a wuss. -
Banned because it's not uncommon to be unoriginal on this thread.

I second this. Gailbreak was the best episode, and the only episode so far I'd say compares to MLP (well, M.A. Larson wrote it). That scene also had epic background music and convinced me that Sunil is best pet. Actually, Lauren has nothing to do with LPS, The series was made by husband and wife team Timothy Cahill and July McNally Cahill, who's had past experience creating My Gym Partner's a Monkey.

Amy Keating Rogers was given all of the considered "true" Applejack episodes before she left, and I thought by the end of season 2 she was the only writer that was actually able to expand Applejack's character. She's also very skilled at writing Pinkie and pop culture references. I'm kind of upset she left the show. Meghan Mcarthy is good at writing songs (every single episode that's aired she's written since Lesson Zero has had a song, and they were all awesome) and writing Twilight in particular. Also, writing ponies so that they go insane/are in pain/are sad. She's awesome at that. Larson is good at writing more adventure stuff, as well as introducing new characters. Cindy Morrow is very skilled at writing Rainbow Dash, that's for sure (for one, she wrote the two episodes in both season 1 AND season 2 that made me finally appreciate Rainbow as a character, which was Read it and Weep and Hurricane Fluttershy.) She's also good at writing emotional things with good morals.

Littlest Pet Shop shares some similarities, but it isn't all like how the Brony fandom makes it out to be (like, people claiming that it's completely trying to "rip-off" MLP's success. Well, obviously the Hub wanted it to appeal to Bronies so that they could have more viewers, but it's not like they're "stealing" MLP's thunder.) The morals are similar, the plots are similar, the writing is similar, the music is similar, and the crew that works on it overlaps with MLP, but it's still quite unique in it's own right. Oh, and there's A LOT of pop culture references. The thing I'd probably say are the first similarities that people notice are the characters, and even that's not really saying much. Minka=Pinkie (very obviously) Penny=Fluttershy with slight hints of Rarity (the episode where she "freaked out" about Blythe messing up her dress showed that she actually really cares about her looks and she secretly likes attention.) Zoe=Rarity (she's nothing like Twilight ) Russel=Twilight The not-so-small fandom (well, compared to MLP it's tiny, but it's larger than I thought it would it would be when it first aired) even has it's own Equestria Daily-esque blog (run by Bronies, no less) that proves that the fanbase is at least getting somewhere. http://thepetshopinsider.blogspot.ca/

Yup. Thankfully, that was basically my only complaint about the episode. TPAM is currently eating something.

Rainbow Dash is my new favorite...
Rarietty replied to Titan Rising's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
My (and a lot of other people's) opinion!? I could rant on and on why Rarity takes MY PERSONAL best pony spot IN MY OPINION, but that's not the point of this thread. Just because you don't think she's as good as another pony in YOUR opinion, doesn't mean she's automatically worse than said pony and that you have the right to state this as a fact <_< -
Rainbow Dash is my new favorite...
Rarietty replied to Titan Rising's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Yup. Rainbow Dash is officially my new 2nd favorite pony (sorry Twilight). Seriously, I didn't like RD much at all before around the end of season 2, where I started noticing how awesome she was. She still hadn't proven herself until the last two episodes, which prove how much she has grown as a character. She just seems to have matured so much (heck, I could see some complaining that she's matured TOO much) and it makes me appreciate her way more. The moment where she told off Spitfire at the end of Wonderbolts Academy had to be the most character defining moment of the series ever. That entire episode displayed how much she's grown, particularly when she felt bad about following Lightning Dust and putting all of the other flyers in danger. Pre-season 1/even 2 Rainbow Dash probably would've thought that would be an awesome idea. Long story short, I applaud the writers for taking a character I never really cared for and making me adore her. Rarity is still best however. -
Why is everyone accusing the staff of "pandering?"
Rarietty replied to Pony Of The Month's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
About Doctor Whooves in a pair suit, storyboarders like to slip things like that in when they're bored. They may not have been thinking of us, they may have just been a huge Doctor Who fan who though "oh my gosh this is the perfect opportunity to slip this in. This will be hilarious." Do people call ALL references to other shows in kids cartoons pandering?! No? Well, it shouldn't be any different for a show that just happens to have a massive fanbase. -
How Long Did It Take You To Get Your Forum Rank?
Rarietty replied to ShyForever's topic in General Discussion
I'm very picky about what I post on here. Usually, if I think "okay, I'm not adding anything to the topic" or "what was my point again?" or "okay, this post is just awful" I don't post. Also, my posts usually ramble on and on until my posts end up being bigger than I thought they'd be, and therefore I take a while to write a single post. So, all in all, four months to get to 246 posts. This thread is making me self-conscious about my posting speed/quantity. On the bright side, I love the Butterfly rank as it goes perfectly with my avatar. -
My least favorite pony is Fluttershy. I find her somewhat boring due to her lack of personality traits aside from being cute, shy and rarely assertive if she needs to be. On that note, I hate FlutterMac. TwiMac is better. Smosh Games is way more entertaining than normal Smosh videos. I never got all of the hype for Harry Potter. Yes it is a good read, but I find it kind of overrated. Heck, Percy Jackson > Harry Potter (at least when we're talking about the books. The PJ movie was awful, but I don't think that's a very unpopular opinion.) TvTropes isn't that addictive. I hate long fanfictions. I can only sit through fanfictions that are 5000 words or shorter. I despise grape juice. Adventure Time may just be a tiny bit better than My Little Pony (in my opinion). Littlest Pet Shop is actually a really good show for a kids cartoon (sound familiar?) MLP Season 2 was WAY better than season 1, and so far season 3 is way better than season 2. The show is just improving more and more. I've never liked the Living Tombstone's music, and find him extremely overrated. King Sombra isn't a bad villain. I don't have a favorite alicorn princess. Luna and Celestia are both awesome for differing reasons, and Cadance is really cool too. Pinkie's Smile Song is actually one of my least favorite songs of the series.

Why is everyone accusing the staff of "pandering?"
Rarietty replied to Pony Of The Month's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I say, nothing is pandering unless they were to mention us by name (which they only did once, in Equestria Girls) or if someone who writes/storyboards for the show outright says, "This was put in because of the fanbase." In other words, nothing but Derpy has been pandering. You can't just point fingers at people who work on the show, that would be accusing someone of doing something they didn't do. Trixie was probably going to come back, and the ending of Boast Busters made it obvious. Scootaloo had to have an episode eventually, and the premise of Scootaloo trying to act tough for Rainbow Dash is such an obvious premise, I just knew they'd have to do it eventually. What I find really idiotic is when people say that a funny joke, character development, continuity or a plot structure (such as Twilight improving in her studies, and following her destiny) is pandering. No, that's just the crew trying to improve and advance the show. <_< What I find really funny that I recall, back in season 2, people were actually asking for more pandering/hoping for fandom references. When we got Derpy, very few complained. -
I voted for all of the Littlest Pet Shop ones, just because I knew ponies were going to win anyway so I didn't feel the need to contribute. Move aside Nightmare Moon, Biskit Twins are best unintentionally sympathetic villains.

My friend was playing the Sims 3 on my computer. My friend put down a stereo in her house so that she could listen to music while playing. However, I forgot that I put a playlist of Pony music in the custom music radio station. I didn't bother telling her though. For a few minutes, she remained silent, until she heard Wooden Toaster's She's a Pony Remix. "Is this...Pinkie Pie remixed with Pirates of the Caribbean music?" I just kind of nodded, acting completely nonchalant about the whole thing, despite that I was silently freaking out inside about how she even knew what Pinkie Pie sounded like. She continued playing awkwardly, while I pretended to text beside her. This Day Aria came on, and she said- "Hey, why didn't you tell me the true reason Bronies exist?" "What..." "Seriously, now I get it! You're all just in it for the music, huh?" I shrug, "I guess some of us are. I mean, I like the music but that's not the only reason." "Okay, I was just saying it all makes sense now. The music is awesome." Coming from someone who's friends have never even given the show a chance, this was pretty much my only Awww Yeah Brony moment, but it was nice to see one of my friends appreciate the show for at least one reason.

Your Favorite MLP Episode: Round One Series
Rarietty replied to SuperUltimateBrony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I'm going with Applebuck Season, for the lone reason that it's the episode in which Applejack got the most development. That episode also made her my favorite pony at that point. (not so much now, but when I first watched the show I thought that Pinkie, Twilight, Rarity and Rainbow were somewhat annoying. I wasn't convinced that they were anything but typical cartoon archetypes for at least a couple more episodes. However, I was fine with Fluttershy.) Although I'm fine with Friendship is Magic part 2, I was kind of thinking that the journey was rushed a bit too much and was extremely repetitive and predictable. Seriously Twilight? You couldn't figure out that Celestia was the alicorn in the book? Why did no one but Twilight hear/read about Nightmare Moon's "return"? It was only the second episode I had watched, but at that point I was reconsidering watching the show at all, but I pushed myself to continue watching. I'm so glad I did. -

No, JK, I can't. TPAM has cried in the past week.
-
Nope. There are Brony songs officially released on Rockband though, which is awesome (that is, if you still play Rockband.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=hm73_XRttNQ I could easily see an RPG or a virtual novel being made based on MLP however. They could make it for Nintendo 3DS or something. Or, just make an MMORPG. That would explain why Hasbro got into issues with MLP: Online, which was a fanmade MMO. Maybe they are planning on making their own official one?

My favorite episode has to be... Sleepless in Ponyville. Seriously, this is the most best-written Rainbow Dash episode yet....yet it's not even her episode. Seriously, due to this episode and Wonderbolt Academy (Read it and Weep and Hurricane Fluttershy kind of helped, but less so), she went from a pony I never truly cared about to one of my favorite ponies. Seriously, were all of the writers taking "How to write Rainbow Dash" lessons before starting season 3? Maybe Meaghan Mcarthy > Lauren Faust in "how to edit arrogant tomboys" when it comes to editing writing? I have no clue, but she's awesome this season. Scootaloo and Luna's development was great too. Needless to say, I smiled through the entire episode. So many great little moments and overall, the episode had so many feels. It was also a visually gorgeous episode. This has pushed Hurricane Fluttershy aside and has become my favorite episode of the entire series (Magic Duel is now my second favorite). My least favorite episode is Crystal Empire part 1. I've loved all of the season 3 episodes so far, but this episode suffered probably due to the fact that I watched every single spoiler released for it (so technically, I watched the first half of the episode before it aired.) It was amazing visually and cinematically, but it felt insignificant compared to any of the other season 3 episodes. I, for one, was one of the few who liked the "villain" (I liked how he was animated to look also 3D. Besides, he wasn't as much a "villain" as he was a roadblock on Twilight's path to passing her test. If he was given character, the episode would be completely different, as it would focus less on Twilight's test AKA the entire point of the episode). I dunno, it's more of a "I ruined it for myself" thing rather than anything else.

Yes. More than one shade of purple too. TPAM has caved and watched the leaked episode.

Considering that I was praying this episode wouldn't be written by Merriweather Williams, I find it funny that this is now my favorite Merriweather Williams episode. Did all the writers get Rainbow Dash writing lessons before writing season 3? Seriously, just because of two measly episodes Rainbow just might push Twilight aside and become my second favorite pony. And this is coming from someone who didn't care much for her before season 3. I applaud the writers for taking a character I never really cared for (well, I liked her in Read it and Weep and Hurricane Fluttershy, but I disliked her aside from that) and making me adore her. Also, Merriweather, I can't believe you went from Mare Do Well to this. It's awesome you're improving so much, and in the span of a season too! Aside from Rainbow Dash herself, this episode wasn't as good as the last few, but still awesome. There's a bit of nit-picky stuff I'm not a fan of, such as the ending, but that's understandable due to the lack of time for a proper conclusion (maybe it will be addressed next episode, but I doubt it.) Also, I liked Spitfire's old VA better, but perhaps she wasn't available or refused to come back. Also, Meaghan Mcarthy tweeted that the episode originally had a different ending. We have no clue what this ending was like yet, but maybe it was due to time constraints (or maybe Rainbow was going to actually become a Wonderbolt. That would probably butcher the moral then, because it might be translated into "tell on your partner and all of your dreams will come true.")
