  1. Then he could have simply left well enough alone and not said anything at all instead of taunting and provoking his critics with a "oh I didn't read anything and if don't like what I did than too bad." I wasn't the one who posted the nazi Rarity pics and, I didn't create any duplicate accounts or cheat and I didn't troll everyone by pretending the contest was still on while springing the 4 way tie "victory" at the end. I wasn't the ring leader of ANYTHING.

Nobody likes to read less-than-favorable comments like the ones you posted, for example. I don't blame the Doctor in the least. While his decision was unpopular, it certainly didn't warrant flaming or just plain being a dick. This is a goddamn tournament with a grand total of maybe 300 participants, so it really shouldn't matter so much.

  2. inb4 people come on here and say they're just shout-outs

You know, to be completely blunt, I do care about being popular. So do many others, I'm sure, which is why many are upset over these threads. In fact, I used to be in the spotlight around here back in 2012-13. I constantly miss those days, because people made me feel noticed–– something I can't say the same for in real life. MLPforums was my life. I daresay many feel the same way. Following my drop from the ladder, I watched a show that many here also enjoyed, giving me opportunities to make new friends. It's these people that matter to me, not whatever other people have to say about me being nice, best, favorite, or otherwise. Basically:

I'm probably not even liked around here since I'm an "anime fag" or whatever :3 I definitely have a list of favorite people that I consider much kinder and friendlier than others, but unintentionally excluding or pushing away friends you might've forgotten tends to be... you know, un problema.

Let's be honest: popularity does matter in the real world. A lot. Both good and bad come with it, like the fact that you might be assassinated because someone is jealous of you. It depends on how much you guys care about popularity for it to matter to yourself, though. 'Cause seriously, are you going to need the word of some random stranger on the Internet to know you're a nice person? Well, take my word anyway. Whoever's reading this, you're a nice person. :D (At least I hope you are.)

To those who think some people are overreacting: hey, it's true. They might be. Topics like this don't intentionally go out their way to make people feel miserable or unwanted, but whether or not it's on purpose, it did. It doesn't matter to me myself whether these topics stay, since I don't look at them at all. But... I implore all those who think people are bitching about those threads–– step into the shoes of an unnoticed member for just a second.

(Damn it, Sven. You keep making me write long posts in your blaugs. D:)

  3. Very nice, a review worthy of you! :D

Madoka is my second favorite character, and this isn't just because she's Homura's waifu (though that does play a major part). She's pretty much everything good, even perfect to the point where some consider her a Mary Sue. However, I believe she isn't so perfect as to be completely unrealistic. Madoka tends to be shy and even cowardly at times (as demonstrated when she's too scared to make a contract to – for instance – save Mami after her death). Other than that, however, Madoka doesn't have any other bad thing to speak about her. Her kindheartedness and selflessness are traits I very much admire – she's the only one of the other four to not be judgmental of Homura at one point or another, which is the reason why Homura wants to protect only her. The world really needs more people like her.

I just want to point out that Madoka became a goddess not just because she had tons of hope (though that's undeniably a big part of her ascent to godhood) but because Homura turned back time, causing multiple timelines to converge around the existence of Kaname Madoka, increasing her karmic destiny to astronomical levels. (This is also a big part of Homura's guilt, but we'll save that for later.)

Madoka Magica. A magical girl anime where the main character doesn't transform until the last episode, yet still made the titular character interesting. Kaname Madoka used to be my least favorite – to me, she was just that bystander who observed everything and reacted to it but never really did anything. She just wasn't interesting enough. That was before I re-watched episode 10-12 and Rebellion and saw just how big of a sacrifice she made and how she, though most cannot tell, is also a very tragic character.

  4.

Call me an oldtimer, but I remember when I first joined there wasn't a whole lot of open depression and stuff.

You're HistoricallyInaccurate, right? Yeah, I remember the days when depression and life issues were minimal.

First off, before any of you get any ideas, no. I'm not leaving for good. However, I do have a few things to cover.

I come onto this website every single day. I love talking to all the people here. However, the website has recently been cursed with an overwhelming amount of depression and sorrow. I feel like every time I come on here, the forums just get more and more depressing every day, whether it's certain members leaving, problems in the lives of the members, or other dilemmas.

So, in a short while, I will be leaving the forums for an extended period of time. I won't announce when it is. When I take my leave, I'll make it quiet. I just can't take coming onto this site every day and see all of these people sad and sorrowful.

I'll be honest, guys; I love you all. That's no exaggeration. I wish I could help you all through your problems, but when you're a guy behind a computer screen, and all you can do is sit back and watch things play out, there's only so much one man can do.

I'm leaving the forums until things are looking up to shape again, and I don't have to come on here every day and watch all the bad unfold. How long will it be? I don't know. Perhaps however long it takes for things to return to normal. Call me "A lousy friend" or "A terrible person" But, like I said, there's only so much I can do.

Everyone who is facing their own situations, I wish absolutely nothing but the very best for you.

    Best Regards.

Well, Sven, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not one to tell you what to do. It sucks to be unable to help someone who's a friend. It's just – remember when you had your... what you dubbed "soap operas"? Rather than leave, we sat down and tried to talk it out, right? I'm not saying you have to do anything in return, but I didn't think you'd run away from it.

Like I said, I'm not one to tell you what to do. If you're feeling better off the forums, by all means fly over the rainbow and into the pot of gold. I used to be tired of the negative vibe that the forums have shown lately, but a completely wrong good friend told me otherwise and now I engage myself in positivity as much as I can. I know about Sanders and Pink Mist's recent situation – and while I can't give much good advice due to not being on close terms to them, they gain support from their closer friends, and that's enough for me. It might not be enough for you, Sven. I encourage you to change your mind about that.

It sucks to see, but the negativity is probably only going to increase as the size of this community gets larger each day. I'd like to see that, though, as a sign that Madokami hope is gonna increase proportionally to it. Cheesy, but it's Madoka, man. You're gonna be leaving forever if you're thinking the negativity will go away in time. That's no good. I hope that you reconsider, Steven.

  5. It's about time Applejack pulled ahead of Twilight and Luna. I always knew she was your true #1. ;)

I agree, this has been a terrific season for AJ. Not only have the writers been giving her plenty of focus episodes but she's been consistently entertaining even in minor supporting roles. Season 4 has utilized Applejack better than any season before it thus far and I hope this keeps up.  I'm very excited about Somepony to Watch Over Me as well. It has all of the earmarks of a great episode.

    Ahoy, sistah!

Applejack may not have gotten an episode to herself yet, or even will (considering her key episode isn't revealed yet), but she manages to steal the show (at least for us AJ fans) in episodes where she gets a prominent role. I found her in Princess Twilight Sparkle Parts 1 & 2 to be especially badass – "Listen here, you rabid rabbitdandrons! You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!" And I'll never forget Applejewel.

I'm also hyped for Somepony to Watch Over Me. I mean, even the title sounds like the makings of a potentially sad episode (even though I know her parents probably won't be mentioned dead, why else wouldn't Applejack constantly care for Apple Bloom as a mother?). If this keeps going on throughout the season, I will be a very, very happy Applejack ganggirl.

  6. 'Fraid how it's always gonna be. Whether it's a fandom about friendship and magic or a fandom about shooting people with AK-857 lasers, it's always going to have humanity's characteristics rear its ugly head somewhere, "most tolerant" or not.

MLPforums is most definitely a friendlier fandom than most. There's hardly any place else where'd people would be willing to help get over your suicidal thoughts or have decent, reasonable discussions about topics just about anyone could start up.

I was hoping that everyone here was humbled enough by his or her own life experiences not to think it would be a good idea to hold the same immature pissing contests that you see in literally every other aspect of life.

Then of course you're going to hope in vain. Expecting absolutely everyone to be completely perfect the way you want them to be is a foolish thought. We're sometimes – okay, mostly jackasses, but that's why there would be an equal about of good qualities of people to balance those out.

I'm also curious. Some people would be willing to help you if you tell them what's wrong, because at the moment I'm receiving a "I hate these people only because they're popular" vibe from you.

  7. Just like a religion, you're not part of a fandom unless you consider yourself part of it, even if you fundamentally fit the criteria. It is a self-given label and thus is not automatically assigned.

It's not a hard concept to grasp.

Yeah, certainly. I mean, there's a couple of people on these forums who've claimed they've lost faith in humanity and think humans are a pile of shit, so they refuse to call themselves human. Unfortunately for them, they have to fit into the category regardless.

As for bronies, the term "brony" is really fanmade and wouldn't even be thought as an actual definition of "fan of MLP" if not for its usage popularity. @, you say you refuse to call yourself a brony because you don't want to associate with people who have interests you despise, like – oh, "they clop, they spread pony, I don't like them so I won't be one." You're basically claiming that all the rest of us who call ourselves bronies are exactly the same and that we're too trashy to be considered people you want to associate with. It's kind of an insult.

Not sure why you're so against it. You don't want to call yourself a brony? Fine, it's your game, doesn't matter to me. But if other people call you one, it's not exactly like a personal insult. You're caring too much for what other people say – especially considering it's nothing offensive. Unless you make it so.
