If offered a drink, would you take it?

Obviously we're talking about alcoholic drinks and only for you legal peeps out there, whatever the legal limit for your area is. Would you take it? Why or why not?

 

This topic has a two-fold meaning: For those of you who drink regularly, would you take the drink given by someone else or would you be the one offering the drink?

 

Assume the situation is one you would be comfortable drinking in regardless of your answer.

 

I've never had any sort of alcohol in my life. Not for any great reason, it's just never particularly interested me. Plus I kind of prefer to stay aware of my surroundings so I wouldn't drink much anyway.

 

All things considered though, if I were offered one I would probably take it. Because why not? Just one glass won't hurt.

 

I'd never do it on my own though. Waste of my money.

 

Change of opinion:

 

I remember when I turned 21 that a bunch of people bullied, insulted and degraded me because I didn't care to go drinking on my 21st birthday or anytime afterward. I have no desire to get into the ratrace of social drinking and I'd never do it alone.

 

Plus it's one of the few forms of integrity I have. I like holding onto that integrity.

 

Not that I'd ever tell anyone else to do it or not do it. Don't give a rats ass either way about other people but after thinking about it (yes, I created this topic mostly on a whim) I actually have every reason not to drink.

Uh...both.  I've offered and accepted hundreds of drinks.  I'm not sure how or why it would seem odd.  It's like offering or accepting a donut.  Both can be bad for your health if consumed in large quantities, but enjoying one or two is harmless.

I don't know. It was a random thought that went through my head and felt the need to create a topic because community contribution. I may not have thought it out fully when posting.

I would not. I don't drink, and have chosen to never do so.

 

I did try (key word: try) a couple of drinks a little while after I turned 21. IIRC they were offered to me as well. It was awful, I couldn't drink more than a couple of sips.

 

However rude it might be to refuse such an offer (I really don't know, because I've only been in that situation once =P), it would be ruder to have them waste money on me. Besides, anybody who can't respect that I don't and won't drink isn't going to get along with me anyway. I've carefully avoided getting into such social circles.

Nope. Never have, never will. Alcohol has destroyed the lives of many around me and I will not let myself indulge in the same fate. All it does it turn people into blabbering, mindless loonies for a period of time. Doesn't sound like my idea of "fun".

NOPE NOPE NOPE the only kind I would accept is a brief sip of wine because in fact wine is proven to help the Cardio system otherwise NOPE... alcohol is a dangerous weapon to humanity and we have more than enough of it already (that's just me though)

I've never had a drink and I don't intend to start. Since I can fend off the curiosity quite easily (mostly due to my coworkers), I wont crave what Ive never had. Drinking is a pretty expensive habit with very little perceived benefit from my perspective. Plus, I never liked the concept of social drinking anyway, can't we just hold a normal conversation over some other beverage? Perhaps tea or water or something?

I don't drink but I can legally because im 16 and IF im with an adult I can drink alcohol in a bar or pub. I don't drink regulary just mouthfulls occasionally. I've never been offered a drink because im a kid and I have no adult friends or friends at all. what stranger at a bar/pub would take an interest in me? in a not fully matured teenager?

 

Nah I wouldn't accept a drink from a stranger.

I don't think your supposed to drink alchohol for the taste that much and no one drinks on their own. I want to get drunk once to know what it feels like.

If someone just handed me a drink at a party, no, I wouldn't. I likely wouldn't be a target of spiked drinks, but it's always better to be on the safe side. Always better to just walk over and grab your own stuff, eh?

From strangers? Nope unless it had been bought in a bar and I've witnessed it being bought with my own eyes. But I'll always say no to random drinks of unknown origin.

 

As for offering drinks... I don't offer them to anybody I don't know. Even when in bar/club or anything, if a girl asks me if I'll buy her a drink, I say "no" and instead give her a 'crafty' explanation as for why I won't do that/distract her from that thought

If it was a friend and we were at some party and they were being pushy about it, then I probably would. I generally think alcoholic drinks taste like crap, but I can be a bit of a people pleaser at times. It just feels ceremonial, you know what I mean?

It would probably be spiked with something and I do not think a hangover is good, neither would it be good with the after effects of any drug on top of that.

Like, is the drink drugged or something?  or did they just buy it for me at the bar?  because in all honesty i'd take it either way XD  I don't drink in public without my family, so no one is gonna be dragging me off into an alley or anything.  so yeah, gimme all the drinks
