Why Are Bronies Disliked?

Probably because most bronies are pretentious a-holes who think that, along with [for the most part] hating religion, watching a little girls show makes them somehow intellectually or morally superior.

And you needed to say this, why, exactly?  Certainly not to prove your own moral or intellectual superiority...  Or if so, it was a poorly-conceived strategy.  You are on an MLP FIM forum.  Relax.  Enjoy it.  Or if there's nothing here that appeals to you, why not go find something that does?

I'm sorry, but was the title of the thread not "

Why Are Bronies Disliked?"

I would think the main reason for people hating bronies would be that they (the haters) are in fact bronies, but get teased and hated on by other haters (who are in fact bronies), in what is referred to as The Babs Seed feedback loop. We just have to be the Cutie Mark Crusaders and let them know it's all good, and spam their favorite internet hangouts with as much pony pics as possible. Eventually, the power of the mighty pone will overwhelm all cynicism and knock down the 'fake hate' in one fell swoop.

If only that were true... But bronies have been subjugating haters for years. I guess in the end, Griffons Gonna Griff.

Same with every fandom i guess. Some just like to hate on it if its popular, even if they've never even seen it/know about it.

Some also just can't stand to see people happy and have to hate on something to make them feel better. (guess "guys" and "ponies" make a good target)

The old cartoon might have something to do with it as well. Say someone sees a brony, thinks of the old cartoon and thinks "these people are into that?!"

Which is again usally someone who hasn't really looked into the show itself and only knows about the old cartoon version to it.

What also puzzles me is some that hate them might have loved cartoons like "powerpuff girls" growing up, or maybe something similar that wasn't transformers or TMNT. :|

I dunno in all though, when i've read the countless things regarding it all. It just seems like pointless hate. Always people out there that enjoy making others miserable.

As a former "parasprite"  or what ever bronies call haters these days I can say that the answer is simple. Bronies are annoying. It's as simple as that. I can't go to any forum without seeing a pony these days or some people discussing which of the mane six they would date. For an example if you look at any video on youtube that has the song "You're gonna go far kid" the comments will be filled with "I like the pony version more" or "Rainbow dash is best pony". And if you make the mistake of saying "Go watch your pony video and stop talking about it" then you're a hater who bullies people.

Most people who dislike MLP:

Brony: hey look at this tv show its pretty cool

Other: STOP SHOVING IT DOWN MY THROAT YOU ASSHOLE

See?

LMAO yeah sure. I had a friend who [when I wasn't a brony at the time] spammed the lyrics to the newest episode's song in my steam chatbox when I was having a serious conversation with him. So maybe you should look at the facts before you blindly defend a wide group of people.

I agree with what you have said. As I have discovered from multiple folks, it isn't that they themselves dislike the fandom, they dislike the fans who are not only absolutely obsessed with MLP but as you said; they feel the need to confront everyone with their obsession. I find this confrontational behavior annoying no matter what the person likes; it can be something I myself like, still, too much.  :okiedokielokie:

I really like MLP, it's great, though when asked if I'm a Brony because someone gathered the information leading to the assumption I say yes and give my reasons in a few sentences and leave it at that. I am not ashamed of liking the show, I think even having to state that to someone is stupid, anyone can like anything they'd like no matter their gender, age, ethnicity, etc. The line is crossed when you press your interests on someone and practically give them an excuse to confront you. Are you looking for trouble?  Don't do that. Be respectful and considerate.

The Brony community has come a long ways, earning its place in the world and is becoming a well understood fan base. It's doing well and it will continue to do so especially if Bronies can represent MLP, showcasing our healthy admiration for it as apposed to an aggressive obsession.

Rise above hate, love and tolerate ~     :)

Interesting...  I largely agree as well, but note that the person whose post you responded to did not find it necessary to call anyone an "a-hole."  These things matter.  Especially with a presence of younger fans here.  Not to mention, you can "catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.  Think about it..."

I think it is because we are outside the social norm and many of the people who don't like mlp where probably   raised by someone or born in the pink and blue syndrome years or they plane understand don't and are afraid. I wish we could help them step through that mirror and help them to understand us. what else can we do ?

I NEVER intend to apply anything to everybody in X group.

This is just what I see.

Well you see wrong. Usually it's the bronies forcing the show on someone and the other person has to put up with their BS.

This is a letter to the anit-bronies of the world:

To whom it may concern,

I appreciate that you do not like bronies and I feel a sort of respect for those of you who will come out and say you don't like bronies without outright attacking the community. If that is you, you may stop reading. To others of you, I am not calling you haters who hate for the sake of hating. I am saying that, even though, all the mlp stuff on the internet is annoying and is found on probably every website of the internet, everyone has their interests and bronies have their own interests too. I happen to passionately dislike anime. Now, you see that on almost every website on the internet as well. I don't go around writing hate to anyone that likes anime because I respect people's opinions.  I respect you opinions to dislike mlp but I don't see why you believe that you opinion is ever so important that you feel you are entitled to insult other people's likes and dislikes. I have also seen many brony hate website and I have to wonder why people are so passionate about shutting bronies down. Bronies almost have a smaller community where people can respect each other. I sense none of that respect in anti-bronies and, don't get me wrong, I'm not telling you to join our community I am just asking for you to give you the humane respect that everyone deserves. I don't think it's legitimate to dislike a group of people because they like a different thing than you do. I'm not even a hard core brony. I like the show and like to talk to people with similar interests as me. I am defending the brony community because I have seen the things people say about bronies and it is just cruel. Finally, I would just like to say that if you don't really like mlp, just avoid it. I know that people see it all over the internet but that's just pictures. Just skip over them and you'll be fine. Back to anime, I don't like it and I see a lot (or at least some) anime on even this site but I don't let it ruin my time on here.

Thank you for letting me be heard.

Yours Truly,

What does that even mean?

Being obsessed as hell about it, ponifying stuff that didn't need ponifying [i have no joke seen a ponified music video for that one ISIS song] and doing *shudders* THIS.

But if all those things can be safely ignored then it's not really forcing anyone.

Yes it is. Take the bowling alley vid for example, how could you ignore a bunch of, quite frankly obnoxious grown men watching a show made for 6 year old girls?

I can ignore pretty much anything. If something doesn't direct affect me then I consider it none of my business.

As for it being a way of imposing the show on others? The bowlers next to them probably had no idea what they were even talking about. I agree that if people are annoying then it can be a rude thing regardless of whether the annoyance is founded on ponies or sports. People should quit that and think about others for a change.

Do I REALLY need to show you more brony related cringy stuff? Because that's not at all a lone incident.

Who cares? If they don't like bronies, that's honestly their choice; they don't need a reason. I don't really feel the need to change their personal opinion, or even bring it up where its not wanted, as long as they have the common courtesy to do the same. It's really that simple.

Fixed it for you. People can be obnoxious regardless of what they watch, like, do, prefer, etc.

You didn't fix anything. Regardless of what we believe on gender roles the average person in that bowling alley's annoyance would have been heightened due to it being MLP.

But... it's their business, why should people care? Forget gender roles, and MLP in general; I'd say the same thing about football, bananas, or even belibers, even though I personally don't prefer any of them. As long as its not hurting anybody or breaking any laws, and they're not forcing you to conform to their way of thinking (i.e "in your face"), people should be able to do what they want without someone harassing them. It's that simple.
