Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 I'm not sure if it's Bronies alone that are changing the definition of masculinity, but perhaps we have had some impact on it. Saw that video a while back though, a few months after I became a Brony .Good video, still in my faves. #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims
MLPFanatic34 3,234 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 I think bronies and fans of MLP are disliked simply because others don't understand that a lot of bronies find joy and happiness in watching the show and relating to the characters and the songs and of course the show's meaning. I for one feel much better about myself than I used to self esteem wise thanks to MLP. It's changed my life for the better and I will watch it forever. I find it sad that some people bully and harass those who like the show, that saddens me and bullying is a awful problem that needs to be stopped. Those two incidents involving two boys who love the show that were bullied for it, disgusts me, I feel for them as a fellow brony. The world unfortunately is cruel. Ribbonfree 2,383 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 Because some of the fandom, especially when it was younger, was incredibly annoying and vocal about ponies and it just stuck that we're an immature and forced meme of a fandom.
Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 True, Strapless, but a lot of fans of everything are annoying and vocal. I used to not like Anime fans because of that very reason, but I learned to just grow up and accept that some people are more vocal and open about what they like. Now, I don't mind anyone who shows off what they love, as long as they don't violate someone else's rights, like invasion of personal space. 1 #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims

Lightwing 12,973 April 20, 2014 Share April 20, 2014 We're hated for one and simple reason... When we find a non-brony,we tend to try everything that's possible to convert him/her. Sometimes it works, and even ends with him/her loving the show more than the brony that converted him. But,what happens with those that we fail to convert? They have a bad view of us,and, trust me,bad words run faster than good words -_- Don't get me wrong.I love this fandom, but it has some serious flaws that could be fixed They are jealous cause have the ability to see the good in a cartoon like the storyline, the animation, and the music. We made it into a fandom and now they're just jealous that we are 20% more cooler! If you come with that reason to a non-brony,or even to an anti-brony,they'll send to the trash. When I entered the fandom,no one forced me to enter. No.One. Personally,if someone forced me to enter, like you, diehard bronies,i wouldn't even bothered to give the shoe a try,and I wouldn't be here Cause we've got pony swag. And again with the same.If we have that kind of behavior, nornal that we're that hated For those who aren't bronies, they should decide for themselves. You would think that it's impossible,but...How this fandom started?Because someone dared to try,and that one told it to others, and those others to others, and so... 2 ~~ Forum Rules - Forum FAQ - What do you think of me? ~~

ShiningStar 2 April 20, 2014 Share April 20, 2014 I completely understand the point you make, a lot of websites like 4chan and meme websites were posting ponies a lot (not that im against it) so i can understand why they want it to stop, and im fine with people telling me not to post ponies, its just when they call all of us gay cloppers that live in basements when i get annoyed, cus none of us are like that (maybe some are) but the reason for that is because it is fairly new, they didnt know how to respond to it so they had to go with it or against it, most went for the second because it is a show created for little girls, but nothing stays the same, so the brony fandom was created and hence was the brony-hater people made, it may be a while before we are respected for who we really are, but as I always say "it isn't about the destination, it's the journey that really matters". Sazama Ichida 2,367 April 20, 2014 Share April 20, 2014 My friend is against them because he thinks they're a disgrace to men so to speak. He called them "men who have long since lost their manhood". He basically thinks that they're sissies and are like homosexuals. He's never even seen the show though...He really doesn't even know anything about it... Adorkable 2,737 April 20, 2014 Share April 20, 2014 Because we're "gay" and a "neusence" (embarrasment) to society. Kidding, but not kidding. I actually have been preforming a minor test at my work place over the past week seeing how my co-workers viewed Bronies. I didn't get a clear respose from any of them besides my Assistant Manager, who stated that Bronies were gay and a bunch of weirdo pedifiles. I giggled to myself from how often that's been said, but I do believe that's why we're disliked. In a nutshell, I personally believe it's more along the lines of going against the standard male sterotype. Guys liking little colorful ponies just isn't something you would see a man doing 20+ years ago, society sees it and rejects it because it goes against typically what people expect to see from males. Maybe others think we're all a bunch of pedofiles for the exact same reason, know what I mean? A sad world we live in today. Can't we all just get along and live in harmony with friendship as far as the eye can see? A somewhat perfect world for a Brony. That, or people are jelly of how bucking happy we get watching and discussing the show, know what I mean?
Antidaeophobia 299 April 20, 2014 Share April 20, 2014 From my experience, quite a few people I've met have hated bronies with the delusion that we must be pedophiles or into bestiality because we like my little pony. I hear this, and even my neighbor across the street said this, and she was surprised when I said 'I like My Little Pony, and that's not what bronies are about'. She's now found out her son, me and several people she's met who are clearly adults, are into the show. Including a few military people she knows that came out to her as MLP lovers. Most people judge out of ignorance, or preconceived notions of what they believe gender roles are. My neighbor upstairs got really angry when my best friend talked about ponies with me in front of him and joked about how he wanted to wear my Princess Luna shirt, but because he's a male; My neighbor told him he 'needed to have his man card revoked' and said he 'wasn't a real man' and some idiot crap like that (my best friend in his 40's like my neighbor and family man, he just doesn't believe in stupid gender roles). All the people I've known personally that judged bronies harshly, once they realized I was a brony, and they've heard me talk about it, talk about the community and the different people I've met; they've become more accepting. My mother was initially a little annoyed with my new pony love. She's use to be obsessing over fandoms and I've been a Trekkie since I was 4yrs old, but she thought me getting into something she viewed as clearly a cartoon for 5yr olds- was "weird as hell". But I asked her to give it a try because it mean't alot to me, and she now supports my love of the show because she sees it's actually a good show and that I love it. My best friend isn't a brony, but he supports me and gets excited when I make new fanart. I also send him my little pony doodles when he's sad because it cheers him up because ponies are adorable. He also defends me when people talk badly to me.People judge because they're ignorant; and sadly, some of those people don't want to learn the truth. Sure, some fans can be obsessive jerks, all fandoms have fans like that. I was a trekkie first and foremost before this show, so I know how weird and obsessive some fans can get. But people need to realize that those few fans that are awful, are not representative of this entire fandom, and frankly, we can't stand those jerks either. Confucius 194 January 19, 2015 Share January 19, 2015 I'm thinking when people hear the title "My little Pony" they stereotype the show with the past generations. Fim probably has the largest hating fanbase. I never see anyone hating on animes with feminine elements or shows like the Simpsons.
High Step 46 January 19, 2015 Share January 19, 2015 What it really boils down to is there will always be the "I do not like x because of y" people. It is just a normal situation. Admittedly, fandom can be carried to an extreme. It is important to remember, to much of a good thing can make it a bad thing. Heck, I have been guilty of this myself, with my mate causing her to become fed up with it, although I do have two mlp plush toys now, I have decided that it is wise to leave them in my bedroom and if I see that I recorded an episodel, to watch it in my bedroom, and if I desire to view uTube episodes, again, watch them in my bedroom, I am a fan, she is not. I must respect that.

Moonbutt 87 February 17, 2015 Share February 17, 2015 Because they need to be 20% cooler to be one. I think it's because that being one step outside of social norms, anything that doesn't seemingly fit a standard is considered shunned or frowned upon. Sometimes they may be disliked because the majority does, not statistically speaking of course, or maybe they like it but in order to keep it a secret they have to play along by pretending they don't. I remember reading that MLP:FIM and it's unexpected audience came as a surprise, and wasn't intended for. I admit before I watched the show, I caught it as a little too girly for me, then I opened up to watch the first episode. I never disliked the show at first, maybe because I didn't know a lot of guys watch it, girls too. After that first episode, hooked instantly. I never cared what anyone would think because I'm one of those judged types; the loner. 2 Sig made by: http://buttonsmaker.deviantart.com/
Mane Quest 104 February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 My problem is that most anti-brony things that is highly visible comes from the kind of people who use the misinformed assumption that all MLP fans are Homosexual, fedora wearing, neckbeards who live in their parents basements clopping over pony porn, and that simply isn't true, yes the community has some... well lets not talk about them, but none of us would mind if the people who disliked MLP kept it to reasonable, calm arguments such as the fact that some bronies throw the fandom around in bad places. I used to dislike MLP, however I had nothing against bronies, I just thought it was a little strange but its what they like so why should I care, but then I watched it of my own accord and liked it, the full on haters need to cool it and the people who dislike the behaviour of bronies are kind of right some members of this community do shove it down peoples throats a bit. Well that was a long comment for me xD Signature made by PucksterV

Cosmik Vek 764 February 19, 2015 Share February 19, 2015 For me, I think the situation of the whole anti-bronyism thing is happening because of the medias (internet, television and radio) that brainwashed people who are extremely gullible and those who got brainwashed by the medias kind of did the same thing to other people in the internet and then the monster defined as the anti-bronyism got so fed that it is now flooding the internet. So if you have one thing to blame for this "people hating people for a T.V. show" thing then blame the medias who is terribly controlling the minds of innocent people in today's society tamereenshort.ca Former name(s): ExperimentalMLPguy, ObliveonBr0ny, ObliveonRapt0rBr0ny, ObliveonVortex Angelus Corruptus (My OC) My PMVs and YTPs channel 100+ Underrated Metal Bands in 100+ Days (Blog)
