The Milkman 186 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 (edited) So why do some people find bronies annoying? I wondered that myself every day, as my friends started laughing every time I made a mlp reference. Let me start here, do those friends know what you are talking about? Don't make MLP references with people who don't know nothing about it, it's useless and people are going to laugh at you instantly, think about what are you going to do before doing it. If i were you i wouldn't take pony merch to school, they will keep doing that to your things, keep everything normal. >We will love and tolerate you! As long as we share a common interest! >Accept our love! We will be allowed to post ponies 24/7, no matter where the hell it is! >Do not resist ponies! Or we will 'love and tolerate' the SHIT out of you! Hate to say this, but a tiny fraction of us (yet the loudest) is just like that But on the other side, we also got a whole army of anti-brony It's not a tiny fraction of us, it's a lot of people and they are very loud indeed. On 4chan and YouTube everyone seems to think that all bronies are aroused by ponies. : p Because of the people who can't keep private things to themselves, so they just throw it in the internet, and people know us like that people and it can't be changed. Maybe we should make pony sites? I mean we made ponychan, we could make ponytube, as a start of us helping them out, I can understand where they're coming from, I hate rule 34 but that doesn't stop people shoving it in my face, No offense but that idea is pretty stupid, we already have the MLP forums and another websites that are also pretty useful, but ponytube? Seriously? We are just excluding ourselves and that makes us look worse and that's why people hate us. This is what's happening, people are throwing useless comments about MLP in youtube or any other website, people that doesn't like MLP starts throwing shit to them and they don't know how to reply or how to ignore so they look for websites to cover themselves. Yeah, that's a pretty good idea... It's like: 'Oh, you wat MLP, so you're gay! And homosexuals and ponies are dumb!' Disliking it is totally fine, I don't care if you dislike it, everybody is different, but just don't go hate on us and spread lies about us 'cause we like to watch My Little Pony. Your sentence in a nutshell: please respect me. As much as i want people to grow up and learn to respect, that won't happen. They don't know how the community is and they don't want to know it so they just get from what they hear, so don't try to make them understand that not all bronies are like that because they won't believe it. Bendy 1,821 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 (edited) One major reason why we are disliked is all the crossover fan fiction, crossover fan art and ponification of every thing (All this crossover stuff actually helps smaller fandoms grow and survive) all of which I like. But it means even when not looking for MLP FIM related stuff you still find it may it be on Youtube or deviantart and whatever. Some view us as a cancer to the Internet. Also there's rule 34 of everything, but the anti Bronies seem to make a bigger deal of our rule 34 than any other fandom for some reason. Ion 279 September 22, 2012 Share September 22, 2012 One major reason why we are disliked is all the crossover fan fiction, crossover fan art and ponification of every thing (All this crossover stuff actually helps smaller fandoms grow and survive) all of which I like. But it means even when not looking for MLP FIM related stuff you still find it may it be on Youtube or deviantart and whatever. Some view us as a cancer to the Internet. One thing that annoys me about those people is that they complain about us having pony related sigs and avatars on non-pony websites, and we get singled out above all other fandoms, despite the fact that (In some forums I post on) there are less people with pony related profiles than there is for some anime shows, or things like Dr Who. Nobody seems to complain about their profiles. Still its to be expected. Also there's rule 34 of everything, but the anti Bronies seem to make a bigger deal of our rule 34 than any other fandom for some reason. A lot of people have a tendency to latch onto negative aspects of fandoms and use them against all those involved, even if the negative things are a very small minority. A lot of brony haters call us all cloppers just because a few are and have been vocal about it (Why thought it necessary to do so is beyond me). And yet every fandom has at least some rule 34. Data Stream 0 September 27, 2012 Share September 27, 2012 (edited) Just about every Saturday, the traffic where I live is *just insane* because a few people are fans of a sports game called football. On a game day, somewhere around 50,000 people come into town to watch this game being played. If you aren't going to the game, it's probably best to just stay home. That's "shoved down my throat" all the time, I'm forced to see their fandom every day and have to plan my schedule around it. My workplace has special "wear your jersey to work day" and similar events. So I can't put too much stock into people complaining that MLP stuff is forced on them wherever they go, other people's fanaticism is forced on me all the time and I'm ok with it. morethanicecream 116 September 29, 2012 Share September 29, 2012 Let's go through the mind of AppleJackRules, show we, before he was a brony (AppleJackRules is my brother). Let's start from the beggining, on, how he found out bronies, and what his thoughts were. So, as from the beginning, my brother, found out I was a brony. I told him one day, didn't really care, he pretended to be a brony (this is what I think. I think my brother only became a closet brony when he told someone I was a brony, and I told that person my brother was a brony too.) My brother was a major hater. Reason - the show is for girls, therfore if you watch something not for your gender, it is politically incorrect and known as gay. My brother would call me a gay homo fag or other things that made no sense (try to understand a non cockblocking cockblocker, WTF). I think he was jealous, cause I told him the fandom was huge (about 1 million people). He felt jealous and was trying to make me stop watching the show. I told him to be open about it, showed him some fandom works (Video - So many f*cking wonders, best of pinkie pie, My Little Pony: Mental Breakdowns). He started to like the material more. I told him if he kept an open mind, he would appreciate the show. Haterz and trolls are closed minded. They hate the show cause the have the common ideas (the show is for little girls). If haterz and trolls weren't closed minded, and watched an episode, they would grow to like it. I was open minded when watching the first episode and came to love the show. Next thing I want to talk about is about common things haterz think and why they are wrong/correct. I will be talking about the haterz and will be using the word 'you' a lot. Haterz opinion: The show is for little girls, anything for that targeted audience is probably crap. Why they are correct/wrong: Correct: The show does have some kid jokes to it, most of them for younger kids. The show does have mainly girl characters, but that is why it is a target for a girl show. Wrong: A lot of kid shows that were built earlier on were good, many people still like kid shows. This show does have some girlyness to it, but isn't terrible. The show has a good storyline and has funny jokes for adults and kids. Lauren Faust designed it for little kids and their parents. As you see, it does have a target to little kids' fathers and mothers. Did hater win, not this time. Haterz opinion: Pony stuff is shoved down peoples face. Correct: They are right for many different reasons. Pony stuff is posted on the internet. About everything has been ponyfied. Most searches do have at least one thing of MLP content to it. Wrong: With a fandom, comes a lot of content. This fandom has more people who do want to expand the fandom, and that is why there is more content posted. Most of the day, you go through without seeing pony content. It is only about 20% of your day that you see pony content. NFL stuff is posted all the time on the internet, because it is a fandom. MLP lovers are like NFL fans. Some of us like to talk about it all the time. Some of us never talk about it. Your only exposed to the lovers. Hater has lost again. Haterz opinion: Bronies are annoying, they keep on spreading their love and tolerance: Correct: Bronies are annoying, they will rub it in your face, or respond to you with love and tolerance Wrong: Bronies will occasionally nag you about brony stuff, it shouldn't be that annoying to you. If you tell them that you want nothing to do with the fandom, they will most likely leave you along. There are few that will continue because most likely you haven't watched a single episode. That is the reason why bronies will bug you about it till you watch a single episode. Love and tolerance will be given if you are hating on an MLP video. The reason why is that you commented on the video. You (Hater) are pretty much a dick about it as we are to you - My Fellow Brony. Hater has lost again. Best is if a hater doesn't want to see any pony stuff, stay away from the videos and the internet. Heck, just leave the world, cause, they are the ones who are bugged by it.
Creamy Arty 6,252 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 Now that I have looked into things and thought about things a bit more, my opinion is a little more conflicted. On one hand, I still think that there are honestly a lot of haters out there and they really do work hard to harass bronies. On the other hand, I think that there are also a lot of bronies out there that can be a bit freaky at times. This is something I've faced on another forum site. It's a site that has many subforums for many games, movies, TV shows, special interests, etc., but for a time there was no FiM forum for the bronies. Not having many other options, we went to the one that's considered the general discussion forum and kept most of our pony stuff confined to a thread or two we had dedicated to that. People would then come into our threads and start complaining about the presence of ponies and how they were sick of seeing it. They willingly went out of their way to put content they hated before themselves and then complain about it. So we would freak them out a bit. They came in unbidden to cause trouble so we made them uncomfortable. And people sometimes use reaction images all over that forum, images from shows and movies and what have you. But make it a reaction image from My Little Pony? That's different. That's spam and it needs to be stopped. I'm not sure how it is at many other places, but I wouldn't be surprised if that pattern was the norm. Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights!

There are people who complain about not only what you mentioned, but also about how some people have ponified their username, avatar and profile. They say that that is no better than memes and such as they can't go anywhere on the forum without seeing a brony user. I think thats just stupid. Nobody complains about avatars and such if they aren't a pony. But then we do have a reputation on the internet and some people just refuse to accept that we exist. Gone Airbourne 21,977 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 (edited) Within any type of fandom there are always going to be people out there who are flat out annoying. For lots of reasons I actually do not blame others for hating on some bronies. Now what I do hate is when someone gets in your face ignorantly and just hates bronies for no particular reason at all! The majority of times why i hear that others hate bronies is because that person has had a negative experience with one of us. Like bronies who try and shove mlp down other people's throats. You got to understand not everyone likes the same thing. There was a video I saw of a group of bronies walking down the street and all of them were singing winter wrap up... The only problem with this is that they went inside of a restaurant and made a fool of themselves to other people. So that is why most people hate bronies but the majority of bronies are just plain awesome. Edited September 30, 2012 by Gone ϟ Airbourne
Nah 3,182 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 It's simple, we live in a society that stresses stereotypes and expects the genders to be in the interests relevant to them. I get really tired hearing people use slurs such as gay and retarded against us, along with that, the trolls and the haters tell society that. AJHunter 265 September 30, 2012 Share September 30, 2012 (edited) The two biggest I've seen are those in the OP. As a brony, I love how we've permeated pretty much every pop culture nook and cranny there is, but I can see why people that are outside the fandom would be bothered by that. What I don't get is when people say that liking MLP is manly. It's not. Not at all. No matter how much they put in to keep it appealing to us, it will always stay as a show primarily directed at little girls. Another thing I've heard is that the "love and tolerance" credo is bullshit and that it's not at all followed. Unfortunately, this is true in too many cases. It really has become a sort of "say anything and get away with it" card for a lot of people, although there are still those of us who genuinely believe in and try to live up to it. I've even heard so far as to say the show actually promotes stereotyping and racism, especially in the way the ponies treat obviously sentient non-pony characters (the cows, the dragons, etcetera) and how no matter what species a character is, they're a "somePONY". Those are just complaints I've seen most and my take on them. Edited September 30, 2012 by AJHunter Touchin' butts since 1993HFJ SoundCloudAlso I sell shirts and stuff. DoctorWhovian1902 596 October 1, 2012 Share October 1, 2012 (edited) the fan-art is kinda annoying sometimes. and we left NOTHING unponyfied... But on the other hand, when people say "you have a ponification board for a reason", it's like they're trying to seperate us, saying "you have your boundaries, stay in them and no one will get hurt". Still, I do see what you mean. I actually had a discussion with a "hater" on YouTube myself, he was being outrageous to start off, but after I (accidentally) swapped to PM's instead of comments, he was more civilized and I was able to sympathize with him. It is true, sometimes our culture is spread extensively. In all honesty, we may have created quite a few haters because of it. That's not to say that many haters don't simply hate us because we're different, because I'm willing to believe that that's the case with the majority of them. Champion RD92 8,658 November 14, 2012 Share November 14, 2012 I can see how some bronies could be annoying if they post ponies everywhere, but people shouldn't hate all bronies just because there are some annoying ones. I also don't understand why people make such a big deal out of guys watching MLP:FIM and say like "omg bronies are fags they should all die." It's just a frickin' TV show. If you like it, then watch it. If you dont like it, then dont watch it. It's as simple as that.
Shanks 10,816 November 14, 2012 Share November 14, 2012 The "don't shove it down my throat" argument really only has merit with the most extreme elements of the fandom, there are plenty of things I don't like and sometimes when I am online I can run into some of those things but I just move on. Yeah there is a lot of pony related art, fanfics, parodies ect but the same can be said with Star Wars although to a lesser extent and nobody accused Star Wars of trying to shove it down their throats. It just seems like people getting the wrong idea of the fandom by seeing the more extreme elements of it, the friend that got me into it didn't push it on me but he did tell me about it and recommended it to me as he has a few other things I have tried out and ended up liking. Yin Yang 43 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 (edited) Everyone seems to hate bronies. I, for one, see no reason why bronies shouldn't be treated like everyone else. But other people, it seems, hate them with a passion. Why? When faced with this question, haters are forced to come up with a rational argument as to why bronies are an embarrassment to society. The most common answer is "the show is gay." A while ago, my friend told me he is a brony. This person without doubt is one of the best people I've ever met. He's clever, funny and interesting to talk to, and really, if you met him you would have no idea he was a brony until he told you. Some people, if they knew, would probably launch straight into the usual interrogation: "Are you gay?" "How do you watch that?" "That show is for three year old girls." I didn't. As far as I know, he isn't autistic, or stupid, or weird, all I view him as is an extremely kind and intelligent person who likes watching a specific TV show. So what if My Little Pony is a crazy kid-friendly cartoon featuring colourful talking ponies with personalities on par with teenage girls? If people like watching it, then so be it. It carries a very important message: Learning about friendship. People who think they know what bronies are really like will often say that they talk nonstop about ponies, will try to convert you all the time, and shove pony related stuff down your throat all day. They don't. A lot of bronies don't tell many people for fear of being discriminated or teased. I think all bronies should be able to tell people and be proud of it without being viewed differently. WE ARE DIFFERENT, BUT WE ARE NOT ALONE. Love Yin Yang Edited April 21, 2013 by Yin Yang
Stalliongrad 982 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 Ignorance is bliss. Alot of people troll just because they can (even in real life). They see something that you like that they dont like or dont understand and begin to criticize you for liking it. When they themselves really dont have much going on anyway. Everyone is involved with some kind of fandom even if its just a little bit. I know people that love Twilight (the book and movies) but made fun of me for being a Pegasister. I think Twilight is the dumbest story ever. Its a story about a girls choice between Necrophilia and Bestiality. But i dont make fun of them for liking it. I used to laugh at people that liked Harry Potter and i acutally like it now. Victor van Dort 202 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 (edited) Well, you see, we as a society are heading towards our fundamental and social doom. We get killed by things made to make life easier, and we learn new things only to replace what space we have in our minds containing them with stupid obsessions, sociopathic reactions, and overall unintelligent thoughts. People are becoming much more narrow-minded because of stereotypes concerning, well, everything, and because of their own social experiences. We bronies represent what might as well be the exact opposite of that: Open mindedness, good judgement of character, and actually interesting interests. Other reasons haters hate may be due to the fact that people today hate things that they don't understand. Take a look at your average middle schooler: some don't know algebra, so they hate the algebra class. Some don't get the purpose for social studies, so they find it to be a bad class. If that's possible, I mean. If it's in real life, talk to someone, but if it's on the internet, just ignore them. They'll do the same to you, eventually. 2 This one is a tad less creepy. Gdrlowmgqwmhopqw 107 January 5, 2013 Share January 5, 2013 Some haters are just annoyed by the fact that we are everywhere these days. I guess i can understand that type of hate. However, there is also the type of hate where they simply do not understand and history has proven what happens when a group of people do not understand. The point of view for them is completely different (lacking) and to be honest we all make this mistake at some point in life and possibly repeat it eventually, again and again. Be it a music genre, a youtuber or a tv-show, there's this silly hate for something that we all have when we could just spend our time on things we like instead. 2 ^ Clickable ^

There's always going to be a group of people who say "{This) and This suck". Point is if you like it or your friends like it. Really, that's all that matters.
