Because I have met people who don't like anime I love it, personally. I adore the amount of attention & detail that goes into my favorite anime visuals, but some people prefer other styles, which I completely respect

A lot of good suggestions there, some of which I agree with, some I disagree with and some I am neutral on.

 

I generally like the mix of action and drama they have now.  I like the progression rather than totally same characters in different (progressively inane) situations.  I like their characters. 

 

However, either most of the issues will be wrapped up eventually (I'm predicting about 3 seasons) or they'll get into the problem that some already have with Fluttershy focused shows: yes, she has that issue (Fluttershy's case fear) and she is dealing with it MOVE ON!

 

I fear they'll run FiM into the ground rather than wrap up when it's the right time, but you never know, STNG pulled out when they were feeling that they had dealt enough with that set of characters.

 

I can't imagine that there will never be a G5 show, unless it's because they skip G5 and do a G6(7,8, whatever) show.

 

I'd like them to deal with adult issues (examples: alcoholism, abuse, or unwanted pregnancies) without getting rid of the utopian or supportive feelings that the show generally has.

 

Never going to happen.

 

I'd also like to have Friendship is Science, where the ponies talk about different scientific things (RD plays with electricity to make cool stuff happen, Rarity has social sciences etc.,)

But if we’re talking G5 and not G4.5 etc as the thread title says, then why not come up with something new that would be interesting and original for the franchise of My Little Pony to go next?

 

Sure it’d have to be ponies, and possibly pastel colours, probably appeal to kids and have cutie marks: but who said the next generation has to be a cartoon? Or about the same characters? Or set in Equastia? Or have anything in common what so ever with Friendship is Magic? It could be about anything.

 

G3 if I understand had spin offs to it, like I’m pretty sure there’s one were they were babies and one of them was called G3.5. But despite names being lifted from G3 characters, G4s universe and “vibe” is new and fresh and different to G3, hence why G4 is not called G3.

 

I’m not saying the ideas contributed on this thread are bad, some of them are pretty cool in my opinion: but a lot of them are just G4.....again, or what could be called G4.5, why not something new? since MLPs franchise has been around longer than the current gen 4 version of it.

Just thought of one thing I don't want in G5.

 

Sidekicks.

 

Especially cute sidekicks.

 

Spike is about the best that sidekicks in humorous series get, and he ends up being the butt of the joke 9/10 times.  He's also the cause of some of the worse plotlines, and excluding Inspiration Manifestation his episodes tend to be worse than average for FiM.

 

Occasional pet visitations ala testing testing are fine.

Well I'm not sure that they have to be sequels.  But we loves us some references and if there aren't any references to G4 we're going to be disappointed.  And Rarity fans will revolt if the show is like "Twi, yup; Dashie, yup; Surprise; yup.  NO MOR PONE references."  Which (silly as that statment may be) is kinda reasonable that they feel left out.  So, how do people want to have references -- maybe as mentors.  Just because Pinkie is a mentor doesn't mean that she has to have lived on a Rock farm, or be (once have been) manic-depressive.

 

Something I'd like more is if it were slightly more episodic (rather than sitcom) and that there is a clear chronology and clear character development. 

This may require more mane character groups (not just CMC & mane 6), perhaps more family episodes?

It would be cool to see more easter eggs like in "Trade Ya" when Flutters and Dash are in the background of the Rarijack argument, giving a sense of when things occur with regard to each other.

It surprises me that people think G5 is going to have anything to do with G4; if G5 has ANYTHING to do with G4, it would automatically be considered G4.5.

 

Everything in G5 is going to be completely new - new art style, new characters, new setting, and nothing (absolutely nothing) to do with FiM/G4.

 

I'll say this again - NOTHING to do with G4.

 

Anyway, to be a little more on topic here, I don't see anything particular I want to see in G5. Every generation of MLP is amazing so far (G4 being the worst in my opinion, but it's apparently really popular), so I'm sure that the next generation will have a lot of success hopefully.

I noticed that probably has to do with the fact that G5, unlike G4 before it, has to live up to immense success while still rebooting the entire franchise from scratch. G4 did not have the added pressure of being the successor to a successful TV series with such high standards, so they had much more free reign. Of course, people are inclined now to have a "don't mess with success" mentality now that the show is successful.

 

I would be interested in what a whole new world would look like, but it's hard to do it after Pinkie Pie got her cutie mark Equestria was made.

I know that a number of us are concerned with a possible G5 if Friendship is Magic were to end.  We all know it's going to happen eventually, and that obviously leaves most of us with heartstrings being tugged at.  

However, I urge all of you to actually consider this for a moment... what would happen in the event of a G5 emergence?  After our favorite show has ended, I suspect that the majority of bronies would return for a glance at where the franchise has gone.  Everyone would expect either complete garbage or a return to the genuine quality that we witnessed at the beginning of this generation.  

But what, praytell, would it be about?  What are all of your thoughts on the matter, and if a G5 did come crawling out of the corpse of G4, would you want it to be in the same universe?

Frankly, I would love for MLP to continue into other generations until the creators finally run out of ideas to come up with ideas with.

Idealy, It would be set in the same universe, but in the near future, with minimal references to the previous generations. It would be awesome for the kingdom to be ruled by Queen Twilight, who acts as a "new Celestia" but is hardly ever seen.

Also a mythical goddess named Pinkie Pie... I'd love a new set of characters but the same general show format with a bit more adventure.

 

But to be honest, I'd be happy with G5 as long it just exists.

My Little Pony: Adventures Awaiting

 

A timid human girl is told by a mysterious voice that it is only she who can save Equestopia (my G5 setting). Then the girl wakes up as an Earth Pony. The girl, not able to remember her name, calls herself Bright Bow. Then she meets four ponies:

 

Med Check - A female Earth Pony. She is white with a red mane. She aspires to become a nurse, so helps out at the hospital with small things. Her cutie mark is a first aid symbol. She is tending to Bright when the latter awakes in a hospital bed in the first episode.

 

Ambush - A female Pegasus with cyan fur and a silver mane. She enjoys playing harmless pranks. Her cutie mark is a slingshot.

 

Sharp Eyes - A male Unicorn with red fur and a brown mane. He usually reads and studies. His cutie mark is a book. (not sure whether or not to use him for romance...)

 

Bat Swing - A female Earth Pony. She enjoys playing a sport she invented herself called 'Pega-Ball' - baseball in the sky.

 

Suddenly, a meeting is called in town square. The mayor announces that the search for ponies that have been going missing has been fruitless. Afterwards, Bright Bow's four new friends show her a place she can stay - a conveniently abandoned house. The next day, Bright Bow wakes up and tries to find her friends, but then sees them being taken away by the antagonist. Now Bright Bow must overcome her shyness and save the ponies.

 

Well, what did y'all think? If you liked it, I may turn it into a fanfic when I have more development.

 

Oh, and I thought of other stuff that happens.

 

- Sharp, having read about humans in mythology, asks Bright a bunch of questions about them.

 

- Bright gets her cutie mark in an early episode.

 

- The two-episode pilot is called "Time To Pony Up".

I like the show for what it is, but what a great idea. I'd do three things: firstly, at least two decent-looking male main cast members that aren't babies or manbabies (don't have anything against them, I've just seen too many of them), villains that get good arcs and real respect and a consistent storyline that actually evolves, Avatar-style.

 

And I'd completely reset the universe. Not with drastically different rules, but more like a hard fantasy.

This is what I was thinking about recently, G4 is going to end sometime soon and of-course Hasbro now has a huge fan-base too so bring on G5. But G4 will probably have another 4-5 seasons added to S5, so a total of possible 9 seasons or 10 I only say this because I've read that G4 has an additional 5 more years left to it. Assuming this quote was said this year. 

 

So I think we're good for another couple of years with G4, I'm currently on S4 and the journal is an amazing idea to keep their experiences in somehow I do believe they will tie in FiM with G5, many bronies or personally myself will find it hard to love new characters as we have such an amazing cast already. The way I would personally like it to be is all our current mane 6 become Alicorn's and rule individual parts of Equestria therefore having the G5 ponies as general normal ponies but in the future they could make a story in which they're the new Elements of Harmony. To add onto that the G5 ponies could also visit different parts of Eqeustria to ask for guidance and help from our G4 ponies but now 'Alicorns' to defeat certain evil etc.
However yes the final episode for FiM will truly be heartbreaking, but it's a little early to think about G5 when we have future EQG movie(s) planned and EQG: Academy in the works.

I suppose I’d rather see where G4 goes before any sequel/spin off type ideas in G5 but there are lots of possibilities.

 

I always say the same idea on G5 ideas threads so sorry for repeating myself, but I like the idea of a live action movie remake of Escape From Midnight Castle.

 

Alvin and the Chipmunk movies style CGI that have ponies look more realistic interacting with “real world” on camera. But with a really good revamped script of he 80s movie, and perhaps takes the long running MLP franchise somewhere it’s not gone before.

 

I just have this like vision of crane shots of exotic awesome places, that double for Equastia, and really awesome Pegasus flying and stuff.

 

But having said all that, I’m fine with a sequel/spin off cartoon show and currently am just enjoying G4 as it is and don’t worry to much about any G5 in the future.

Different but similar universe, ruled by 3 queens, a pegasus, an unicorn and an earth pony, i want alicorns to be some kind of "legends", like they're actually exist but no one has ever seen one. Also a whole new cast, a bigger story arc, more adventures and less villains.

 

And i want cutie marks to be called "destiny marks" or just "marks"...
