New Liferuiner is pretty sexy.  They've definitely evolved from the band they used to be.  The shift puts them in the same "darker hardcore" trend, but I'm alright with it.

I've still been heavily listening to Woods of Desolation, god I love this album, I need to check out more Depressive Black Metal bands.

Anyway, I'm so gonna check out their self-titled (finally) because of this.

Surprised I didn't see this earlier. Sorry brah.

 

I wouldn't recommend their self-titled. It's their least original and most typical work. The lyrics are just angsty spewing of hatred, and their vocalist doesn't do anything special, not their drumming. My favorites are A New Era of Corruption and Somatic Defilement.

 

A New Era Of Corruption is less deathcore and more death, while Somatic Defilement is a prime example of a GOOD standard deathcore album.

I still love this band.  One of the earliest bands I ever broke rules about driving long distances for.

I'm going to post some D.R.I., I prefer these guys over S.O.D. and Suicidal Tendencies. I'll take Thrash Zone over Speak English or Die! any day of the week. Although, I got to admit that SEoD had some pretty funny songs like "The Ballad of Jimi Hendrix" and "Kill Yourself".

C'mon, their self-titled is easily their best album. The riffs are tighter, Phil's vocals sound better than ever, and the band is slowly moving away from br00tality.

 

Listened to both Contortionist albums today.

Definitely two sides of the same coin. Can't decide which one I like more.

Both so different, but so damn similar. I think I like Intrinsic more, with the exception of the absolutely beautiful conclusion to Exoplanet.

I just listened to the newest Voivod release, Target Earth. Pleasantly surprised how well the guitar work was handled even without their previous guitarist. Nothing too special of an album, but it definitely has their signature sound and shows that after 30 years you can still kick some ass (unlike most of the other thrash bands of the 80's).

Pretty interesting in terms of composition. Guitar tone's a little scratchy for my tastes though. They self-produced?
