I'm listening to this album and so far I'm really digging it, it reminds of BFD Bathory and Burzum.

I had to go through some weird Russian website that made me look at houses for sale in Moscow just to download this album lol but it was worth it, I only had to look at houses for 30 seconds before my download would start.

TesseracT is not really a band I have given any attention, but I gave Altered State a try today. I must admit, I was really impressed. It was nearly perfect, though I would love to hear some harsh vocals instead of clean ones

Altered State is still my AOTY. I actually prefer the absence of harsh vocals; it works better for a band like TesseracT. Can't say I like it more or less than One just yet, though.

Just got done with the first track of Llenandose de gusanos by Corrupted. Japanese sludge doom ambient whatever with Spanish lyrics.

That 17 minute piano intro is a bit much.

Today is was kind of uneventful Metal-wise, but I got through some new stuff

I gave this EP a chance. Dawn linked it for me, and I gotta say, it was really good

I was also planning on listening to some Metalcore, Every Time I Die to be specific. I listened to the opening track of Ex Lives, I'll get to the rest tomorrow

It's an awesome song

Oh, and I listened to Dopethrone....... anyone here who cares?

Popped in Wrongdoers today, since I liked Norma Jean's earlier work and many people claim that their new stuff is comparable to their old stuff.

I thought it was good, though nothing really too special. I did like the inclusion of some clean vocals, though. The rest of the album seemed like pretty typical blend of old-school and more modern metalcore, while still managing to have that generally insane vibe that this band likes to give off.

Another Born of Osiris song released.

I don't know how to feel. I wouldn't say it's bad, I do think it's good. I just find that without Richardson, the guitarwork isn't as interesting and they try to abuse the synth to make up for it. I guess we'll have to wait and see for the full album to have a firm judgement.

Vocals seem overproduced as FUCK though.

Not sure how to feel about that either, I like it, but it just seems flat somehow. I think the guitar is the cause, and maybe the repeated lyrics... I wonder if they shaved about 30 - 45 seconds off the track (while still keeping the *stuff that I don't what to call* on the end) I could appreciate it more. Personally I like the synths though, although that may again fall on the lack of guitar 'finesse.'

... I feel like I'm hating on the guitarist, but I'm really not, he's good, just not the same with variety like the previous Born of Osiris albums. I'm also not being a Jason Richardson fanboy, I don't care for Chelsea Grin's "new" style, I'd rate "Evolve" a solid 5/10 if the comparison being made is to 'Desolation of Eden" getting a score of 9/10. Though I'd actually give that album a 10/10. Way off subject, sorry..

Back to issue at hand. I will save my real judgement for when I get my hands on the new album, until then I'll remain cautiously optimistic about "Tomorrow We Die Δlive."

The latest band I'm ashamed to like! :DD

I have such a soft spot for cheesy pop punk with fun breakdowns. I mean sometimes it's just fun to like music that's accessible af :^)

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

Because I find it amusing and it almost proves that power metal (and metal in general) makes everything better than it originally was without it.

The world needs more Skeletonwitch. It's surprisingly hard to find studio versions of their music on Youtube. I'm not fond of live versions of any type of music. I used to have this album on my old MP3 Player but that died on me so I gotta rebuy the album at some point.

It's probably because Beyond the Permafrost was the first album of theirs that I heard (because Brutal Legend introduced me to them via Soul Thrashing Black Sorcery which was on that album) but of all the albums I've heard (haven't heard their latest or oldest one though) this one's my favorite.

And yes, I do use too many parentheses in my posts. Edited by Discordian

After postponing my initial plans of listening to The Shape of Punk to Come for ages, I finally got to it

I regret postponing it for so long..... I regret it so much

To be honest, I don't know how I function...

Posting some epic Russian metal. I don't know of too many metal bands that use violins, but IMO they actually fit melodeath really well, it makes for some chilling lead melodies.

Orchestral string instruments go well with any music. Then again, I may be slightly biased from my time playing the Cello in middle and high school.

Holy fuck. This is ridiculous. Not only is it a father daughter grindcore band but the even more insane thing is they're actually REALLY FUCKING GOOD!!

Listen for yourselves This kid puts full grown men to shame.

Also A lot of shit went down at the New Noise Festival but you guys get the short and sweet.
It was a small venue show the main tent could fit maybe 300 people if it were packed.
There were no barriers, nor bouncers, nothing.
So I ran up on stage and sang with Death Before Dishonor And War From a Harlots Mouth.
Got a drumstick from WFaHM

post-10550-0-46037400-1375995252.jpg
And a pic with their frontman Nico Webers.
post-10550-0-33154400-1375994041.jpg (I'm the tall mother fucker next to Nico on the left)

He's a pretty chill guy to met he came out and said hi to everyone that was still in the tent. (which wasn't a lot)
After they played we waited for Whitechapel to come on And while their drummer was setting up I asked if I could get a set of sticks after the show. In the meantime we saw some of the band member hanging out and alex came over and said Hi to some of us He's pretty fucking chill also I asked him a couple questions And got a picture 1001579_661668803863091_2025621092_n.jpg

After that everyone was busy setting up and shit so we just hung out until the party started
My freind in all his retarded glory took a video with his iPod so heres that
I would not suggest using headphones at all or audio at all for that matter.

After the show ben (the drummer) brought me the drumsticks he was using one of which I gave to my gf
post-10550-0-10455600-1375995197.jpg

I ran up and snagged a setlist also.

post-10550-0-21625900-1375994288.jpg
After whitechapel played there was like an hour to just chill out so we were just hanging out and the drummer of Death before dishonor comes around saying Hi and he spotted me and said "hey i saw you tearing shit up during our set you wanna come and chill for a while?"

So of course i said yes so I followed him for a little while until we were out at the far end of the field away from most people And lo and behold someone sparked up a joint. Chillin drinkin beers and smokin a joint with Ben Hilton the drummer of one of my favorite bands! FUCK YES!
After that it was about time for Napalm Death to come on.
We walked over to the tent right as they finished setting up and i was able to jump right into the pit almost right away. In the spur of the moment I ran up on stage and jumped off trying to crowdsurf Which worked for about halfway through the tent and then they set me down. After about another 30 minutes of moshing and head banging the band was done with their set.
Napalm death was a great show sadly I was too slow once the set ended and didn't get any souvenirs. :/
They put on a great hour long set and got the crowd going it was great.
Overall it was THE best concert I have been to. I've had fun at small venue shows before but this was ridiculous. I cannot wait for next year!

I don't understand, I keep getting these Prog Metal/Djent kicks all of a sudden. I chose to blast off to some Meshuggah this time

I love Catch 33

Impetigo is one of my favorite oldschool grindcore bands. They were really influential on me bridging the gap from death metal to grind. This is probably my favorite song of theirs.

Awesome seeing Phil up that close!  Sounds like one stellar experience.  Seeing Whitechapel live is def on my to do list.

Admittedly, this summer hasn't been very metal for me.  It's always been kinda seasonal; I'm for inclined to revert back to metal during Autumn/Winter than I am in the summer.

Catch 33 is definitive top Shuggah album. Koloss has really been growing on me, though.

Remember when I posted that Indiegogo page for Sockweb, the dad and daughter grindcore band?

They released a music video and I'm still laughing.

Go give them money.

Really liking the guitar tone and the drum mix on these guys.  They just found me on Tumblr and I'm happy they did.

Give it a shot y'all.

Listened to Punch's EP yesterday. It's some very straightforward Hardcore Punk/Powerviolence/Trashcore. Very aggressive and trash influenced

Oh, and I'll just leave Death here

This was a fun one.

Definitely an honorable mention for 2013's black metal releases. Nothing's gonna top my big three of U.M.A., Teethed Glory and Injury, and Sunbather, but Known Flood is worth mentioning too.

I listened to Agent Orange because I was sleepy AF in the morning and I needed something to wake me up, I'm not going to bother posting it though since everyone's heard that album at least once.

Anyways, I finally got around to listening to Cult of Luna. I gave Eternal Kingdom a try and I really liked it. I'll probably listen to Somewhere Along the Highway next.

LOL Puppetcore! And chocolate macaroni pancakes?

I've been working on a PMV to the 'Seasons in the Abyss' by Slayer for the last few days, the preview is on page 402. It's a lot harder than I thought. Maybe this is why there are so few metal PMVs.

I love everything they have ever made, but Salvation and their self titled one are my personal favorites

Somewhere along the highway is also extremely good

Found this industrial deathgrind group called The Berzerker. Somehow these guys went right over my head when I first heard them, but now I'm realizing how damn good they are. They're almost speedcore-ish, but not enough to fuck anything up. Plus, their industrial bits and samples aren't in-your-face annoying like some bands do.
