How come almost everyone band on Sumerian Records is awesome?

ESPECIALLY AFTER THE BURIAL AND BORN OF OSIRIS.

 

Because Sumerian decided to become early Trustkill, basically. Not a lot of their bands have hit that stage of "Welp, we're gonna be soft now."

 

Like this. The clean vocals... are terrible, and there's too much of them. The beats are patched together poorly and it's really synth heavy, to the point where you wonder if they recorded the song and then ran Fruity Loops over the top of it.

Compare to an earlier, better release. They synth is more subdued and the song sounds like it was actually written instead of being individual pieces of songs thrown together.

Attila gets a bad rap. Yeah, they have a Suicide Silence sound, sorta, but they make up for it by giving absolutely NO fucks with their lyrics.

I've heard Attila being called "partycore" before. Heh, I always thought that sounded ridiculous, and never really gave Attila a fair listen through because of it. I may go back and give it another go, although "partycore" sounds a genre people would call Pinkie's deathcore band

Anyway, I've FINALLY got around to sinking my teeth into Converge's "All We Love We Leave Behind." So far, it's REALLY good. I'm enjoying it as much as I did "No Heroes" and "You Fail Me," so that equates to a 9/10.
