One of my several guilty pleasures of metal would be this little 5-piece metalcore group called Forevermore.

Plus they're unsigned so I feel good promoting them c:

All right brehs, gonna post stuff and stuff.

So let's see what I can talk about that has to do with metal. Okay, well I listened to a few Lamb of God albums, and I'll eventually buy them at some point. I'll probably start with Ashes of the Wake cause I already have a song from it.

OH YEAH. IT'S KEN MODE TIME. Canadian post-hardcore that redeems all the A Day to Remembers and Blessthefalls that rule the scene.

First time hearing these guys, they aren't that bad, definitely not the best though they are alright, and since we're talking about Metalcore again, I'll leave these two songs here:

I wouldn't say dead, I'd just say that it's in one of those not-so high moments

But anyways I'm gonna leave a song from Kvelertak's newest release

I guess you could call it a recession. This thread won't die but, there are times when it just hits rock bottom.

Minus well post something sludgey while I'm at it.

Anyway, do you guys know of any death metal where I might like the vocals more?

I've got a strong feeling that you might like Opeth, they do have growls in their music, though not through the whole song, good stuff for someone who isn't used to Death Metal.

Blackwater Park is probably the best album to start with by them

Here, maybe you'll like Obituary. They're one of my favorite death metal bands.

And here's some Carpathian Forrest, who are actually black metal but have a different sound compared to a lot of other black metal bands IMO.

I started with Still Life and fell in love with them. My favorite of their albums is probably Watershed.

Anyway, go here and vote for Dream Theater, if only to see the reactions of butthurt Metallica fans: http://loudwire.com/dream-theater-vs-metallica-march-metal-madness-2013-championship-round/

As a prog lover, I'm used to a lot of metal heads not giving a shit about my genre of choice, but I remember the rage when Dream Theater got #2 in Rolling Stone's(I think it was Rolling Stone) Top 100 Metal Bands a few years back, and it was fucking priceless smile.png

Here's the album the poll is talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPYPm4ny9UM

It's up against Master of Puppets, which IMO is a good album, but terribly overrated :/

In other news, if Guitar Hero ever comes back, I demand Sunn O))) be featured. I can think of nothing better than Drone Metal on guitar hero:

Damn, that is one close poll. Petrucci can riff like no other, though. What's your favorite Dream Theater album? Mine's probably A Dramatic Turn of Events   (That's a joke)

Probably Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence or Metropolis.

Feeling quite Bermuda before bed. If you're looking for heavy, check these sons of bitches out.

It's a lot closer than I thought it'd be. I was expecting Metallica to be winning by a landslide.

And my favorite DT album would be Train of Thought. It starts out with As I Am's great riffs and memorable chorus, enters the first part of the 12-Step Suite, which is awesome. Then we have a brief weak period (IMO) with Endless Sacrifice. But Honor Thy Father waaaay more than makes up for it, and it's followed by some awesome, deep, slow stuff. Then Stream of Consciousness  comes and my ears have orgasms. In the Name of God takes the afterglow and turns into another round of earsex. And then I have to listen to Ayreon in the double afterglow, because anything else just sounds like a letdown.

I think I'm fanboying a little too hard... I'm going to go to bed now.

I love Metallica, but I've also been getting into Dream Theater and I really like them too.

I like Master of Puppets a lot, although I like And Justice For All a bit better.

Dude I love Train of Thought!!! That's probably my favorite DT album, although I only own three albums so far.

As I Am and Honor Thy Father are both so awesome. I actually agreed with everything you said about the album.

I looked at the chart and saw that Tomb of the Mutilated lost to Toxcity. I was like, WTF? Cannibal Corpse's stuff with Chris Barnes is godly, how the hell did they lose to SOAD? Second, how the **** does Exodus lose to Slipknot? And Mayhem lost to AC/DC? OK, AC/DC is a good band but, they're not metal.

This website has made some really stupid comparisons before. They compared Children of Bodom to As I Lay Dying? Like, WTF?

http://loudwire.com/as-i-lay-dying-vs-children-of-bodom-death-match/

It's stupid, it just becomes a popularity contest. And CoB lost too... and if you look at the comments a bunch AILD fans are talking sh*t about CoB. One does not simply mess with the Hatecrew, and yes that's what we call ourselves.

Well obviously the bands that are more popular are going to get more votes, that's just how it works. System of a Down and Slipknot are much more popular than Cannibal Corpse and Exodus, therefore they are going to receive more votes. AC/DC is also extremely popular of course.

Well, yeah. That's pretty much all it can be with these kinds of votes. Unless they have one where the only votes are determined by writers, and I guess that'd be pretty cool to see.

Eh, CoB and AILD isn't too wild of a comparison. One's modern melodeath (and modern MDM is slightly core influenced), and the other is mainstream melodic metalcore. CoB's later albums have a more noticeable core influence. Brings the two even closer.

The worst comparisons I'm seeing on that chart are Metallica/Napalm Death, and Motorhead/Death. They really messed up on their "regions", like the "Headbanger Region" "Stagediver Region" and other crap.

I voted for Master of Puppets, sorry, I like Metallica a bit more than Dream Theater. Dream Theater is pretty far ahead though, they'll probably win.

Also, I'm glad to see that Rust In Peace won one of the regions, I like that album.

Eeyup, that sadly how it works sad.png

De Mysteriis Dom Santhanas is a MASTERPIECE and it lost, BAD.

http://loudwire.com/acdc-vs-mayhem-march-metal-madness-2013-round-1/

But, why would you even compare the two? They are WAAAAAAAAAAY too diferent. Not to mention that Mayhem is kinda obscure too.

Tomb of the Mutilated is a death metal classic, but when was the last time they played any of the songs from it on the radio? Never probably.

Children of Bodom is melodic death metal with power metal influences. I'd say they're latest album sounds a bit more thrashy than their earlier stuff.

Oh yes did they f*ck up the regions. Iron Maiden vs Morbid Angel? Venom vs Black Sabbath? At least keep them in the same genre. dry.png

I voted for Dream Theater, I'm hoping Rust in Peace wins it all. Even though Bonded by Blood is ten times better than Rust in Peace.

There's like, 5 bands named Bermuda, 3 of which are heavy. Why? It's not that great of a name, I don't think.

Heavy-devy ones inclde a deathcore group from California (personal favorite), a hardcore band from Japan, another deathcore band from down under.
