Hm. We haven't had a good song about necrophillia yet.

Spoiler for lyrics.

Infatuated with the corpse

An exact image of what it was just a moment ago

A ball gag suppresses the last breath that it ever took

My body is bathed in the warmth of blood

never thought that it would

have kept me warm on this very fateful night

But now I know that those screams were not of pain but they were my ecstasy

Its white skin is illuminated under pale moonlight

Reminiscent of fresh snowfall

The patterns formed by shadows and its hair make each square inch unique

My lips still burn from the last time that I uttered its proper name

Those thin wrists seem to melt in my hands

My flesh on its flesh with gravity on my side

I should, but won't, tread lightly on it

My garments lay in shreds with the last of my humanity

Brushing the hair from its face I am locked into a dead stare

Its open pupils act as a mirror and they are reflecting back at me

Not who I am but, what I have become

I pledge allegiance to this husk, giving it all that I've got

Pushing my power in

And absorbing its life as mine, becoming one with it

I unclasp the ball gag and inhale its death

I love the faceless, and I can't wait for the next album. So on the topic of necrophillia, here is the band Necrophagists.

The name originates from the Greek root words "nekros" ("dead body") and "phagous" ("to eat, eater of"). ENJOY!!!

I couldn't help but notice the lack of Deftones in here. I remember hearing this song when I was like six and getting hooked. These guys paved the way for my metal head life.

So I assume you are VERY concerned with the bassist's well being, with him being in a coma?

This actually has me very curious. What got you guys into metal? You tell me your story, I'll tell mine!

The only album I've heard by them is Diamond Eyes. It's an awesome album, and I'm not big on alternative metal.

The bassist of Deftones is semi conscious now. He can move his foot, but not much else.

Oh definitely. I'm not the kind of person that would go as far as to do something like start a fan site dedicated to reporting every aspect of his recovery but I have been keeping tabs on it for the past four years.

Good man. Shows your dedication without it being fanboyish.

It's a tossup between Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and meeting my best friend Kyle in high school. The radio station VRock had some great tracks that got constant attention when I was playing the game, to the point where I started buying the albums that featured each of the songs from that station. Metal Health by Quiet Riot and Stay Hungry by Twisted Sister were amongst the first, as well as Powerslave by Iron Maiden. I couldn't resist when I saw it first.

Kyle enjoyed the standard stuff like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth and the like, but he gave special attention to bands like Iced Earth, Type O Negative, GWAR and *shudder* Cradle of Filth. Still, him showing me stuff like Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir kind of got me a little more acquainted with Black Metal. At the same time, I learned to appreciate the crude humor that Metal hands to us on a silver platter, alongside the pentagrams, goat blood and aborted fetuses.

The final (and arguably the biggest) influence that the Metal community had in crafting my tastes was when I joined the Metal subforum on Gaia Online back in 2005. Since it was the internet, there was a great deal of new bands being mentioned on a daily basis, and I did what any self-respecting Metal fan would do: I took notes. Lots and lots of them. Listened to tons of recs, bought mountains of CDs. Discovered Progressive Metal and decided it was better than any other genre of Metal, bar none. Then I started to branch out from Metal and go in all different directions, but that's another subject entirely.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, my parents aren't much older than I am at all, so I kinda got grandfathered into metal. I grew up listening to what my dad listened to: Iron Maiden, Saxon, King Diamond, Metallica, Van Halen, and all sorts of rock. Heavier metal was just a natural transition.

This was one of my favorite songs from when I can first remember liking songs.

Haven't heard much of Mastodon's discography-just this and Oblivion-but they seem like a pretty good band. Actually, can any Mastodon fans recommend me a good album to start out with?

I'll check Crack The Skye out first. I just heard Curl Of The Burl off of The Hunter, and it was bad. I've heard worse, though. Much, much, MUCH worse. I listened to Morbid Angel's Illud Divinium Insanus, which was just awful. It was worse then St. Anger by Metallica. It's just....it's just horrid. Mixing death metal and industrial DOESN'T WORK. This song is better then every other song on the album, though. I say better because it's still just average death metal.

The Hunter wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I decided to let my first Mastadon album be the "worst" one, and it's actually pretty good.
