What villain would come out on top?

Say the good characters lost and a bad guy took over Equestria, the only thing stopping the next villain from taking over is the current bad guy.

So what villain, from what we know now, would ultimately be the one to win? And this is from episode 1 onwards, so nothing from the past. I'm only putting in major villains, so no Suri Polomare. And the fictional Mane-iac doesn't count. Heres what I think...

 

If Nightmare Moon had won when she returned, the world would be too dire for the other villains to have a chance against her, who knows who and what could survive eternal night, if anything. That would have limited Chrysalis and Tirak from absorbing love/magic from others. And Discord would have had no ponies to cause chaos for, if he even could escape from the stone at all. (I'm running on the assumption that he derives his power by the discord between ponies)

 

Discord would beat anyone if NMM never won, hands down.

 

It gets less clear cut with Chrysalis and Tirak, as they have similar abilities in absorbing a force from others, but chronologically Chrysalis has a head start, Tirak might not be able to absorbe enough magic by the time Chrysalis gets to him. But it could go either way.

 

Sombra may 'survive' depending if the victor would allow him as a minion or can survive eternal night, I don't see him winning though. Same with Ahuitzotl and Alicorn-amulet Trixie.

 

Sunset Shimmer has a chance if she gets to Tirak before he gets powerful enough to beat her, but not as much as Chrysalis did. So I'm lumping her with the 'may survive as a minion of the winner' catagory with a slight chance of winning herself, like Sarumon.

 

So my verdict is... Nightmare Moon > Discord > Chrysalis > Tirak > Sunset Shimmer > Sombra  > Ahuitzotl > Trixie.

 

Of coarse, this order would be different if you don't include the order thay appeared in.

If Discord wasn't constrained to being a dipstick who sits there when a rainbow flies at him due to rushed writing of only having a few minutes to wrap things up in a kids show, his weakness to the Elements would be far less of an instant KO. This would leave him to fuck absolutely everyone else over, as no other character has reality warping powers villains and good guys alike. Unfortunately, unless Nightmare Moon was defeated normally by the Mane Six as the show displayed, Discord's escape, if it did, wouldn't have occurred, most likely because as Celestia alluded to, the overall reason he escaped from stone was because the Elements switched owners, making the spell that the two sisters used on him long ago with the Elements, fade.

 

So, yeah. Nightmare Moon would reign, and if not, everypony gets screwed by eternal chaos.

 

I read a great fanfiction once where Nightmare Moon did win, and Twilight Sparkle, as Nightmare Moon's forced assistant, was reached telepathically by the still-imprisoned Discord, who basically told her, 'free me, and I'll dethrone your angsty moon princess for you~'. Boy was it epic when he escaped and completely toyed with Nightmare Moon and overthrew her with little effort. He raised the sun for the ponies, bringing plant life and moral back to life, but now the ponies had to deal with Discord as the master of the land instead once again, trying to co-exist with him and his need to transform their home into a cesspool of anarchy. A good read.

I think  the Changeling army could of won if they didn't imprison Twilight they had everypony fooled even Twilight believed she was wrong until they imprison her then she escaped and stopped the Changelings

I think Discord would win against Nightmare Moon because without the elements of harmony, Celestia and Luna couldn't do anything against him.

However Tirek can defeat Discord once he absorbed enough magic, as seen in Twilight's Kingdom.

Trixie is bottom if we're counting Main Six villains. I'm fairly confident Sunset Shimmer=Chrysalis with no boosts, and demon shimmer=boosted Chrysalis, but it's hard to say. Sombra's current form is capable of stopping the use of unicorn magic, putting him above all of the former, and he doesn't actually use magic, putting him above unboosted Tirek. Nighmare Moon could really just vaporize all of the former, and one shot an unboosted Tirek. Boosted Tirek is above all of them, though. Discord just toys with all of the former without even resorting to a physical fight.
Basically: Trixie>Shimmer=Chrysalis>Demon Shimmer=Boosted Chrysalis>Tirek>Sombra>NMM>Boosted Tirek>Discord. If we're counting comics,though, Nightmare Rarity=NMM, and Sombra goes up a slot.

I wouldn't count the comics, but wouldn't NMM be more powerful than Nightmare Rarity.

 

Speaking of Rarity, Rarity under the power of that spell book would be last place I think.

Pretty much this. Discord's power is pretty much limitless as he can warp reality, but he falls once someone like Tirek manipulates him by offering him something he wants.

Discord is so OP compared to the others, he could totally kick all of their tails whenever he wants. Second would be Tirek if powered up, but if not probably Nightmare Moon, unless Chrysalis has some strong love to power her up like in A Canterlot Wedding. As for Sombra..? Idk, he's dead now anyway so who cares?

Discord makes up the rules of reality. That puts him at an advantage over just about any of the other villains.

Tirek only owned him due to all the power he siphoned plus Discords trust in him made him vulnerable. If he saw that coming he could break Tirek pretty easily. I actually think reforming him was good because he's way too big of a menace to kept unleashed. Gives more grounded villains a chance to feel threatening.

Honestly, Discord would win over all! He can warp reality and Tirek would have to gain back power to beat him. However, we see that Discord can beat Tirek really easily when he isn't all powered up. Plus the fact that Discord can SENSE when Tirek steals magic, so again that puts Discord at an advantage. Queen Chrysalis even with all the power she had in A Canterlot Wedding could barely defeat even Princess Celestia, since Celestia couldn't even touch Discord on her own that makes Chrysalis out of the race. Nightmare Moon and Evil Trixie both have similar power strength to Celestia so this again would make Discord the winner. Sunset Shimmer in demon mode couldn't stop Discord either. As well as King Sombra, although he was a pretty lame villain to begin with. Maybe Sombra could beat Discord but we only saw him as a dark cloud.

Well, I can imagine NMM winning and ruling with her schtick of eternal night, but I can easily see Discord escaping and pretty much putting the curb-stomp on her...unless his ego AGAIN gets the better of him.

Really, Tirek has a major advantage considering his silver tongue and ability to stay in the background. Give him time and...Discord's ego, then I can see him easily becoming tops.

 

Chrysalis and the changelings have NO chance, while Ahuizotl could, in theory, deal some damage, but he is limited as he has no magic to speak of; regardless of his vast knowledge of world-destroying artifacts.

 

Sombra is really the unknown in all of this as he seemed happy to stick with the Crystal Empire and eff everything else. I doubt NMM would care too much as she just wants eternal night. Tirek would definitely go for the Crystal Empire, while Discord...well, that could potentially be interesting. Sombra could be like Batman; sending out scouts in disguise. He has shown to be an expert in planning and general intelligence, so I think that if he was underestimated, then Discord MIGHT be in trouble.

 

Of course, one bit of fanon that I love is the Alicorn Amulet. Forget Trixie; I doubt she could use the full potential of it anyway. I like to think that it was Sombra's amulet; similar to the One Ring to Sauron. Is Sombra had the amulet...interest...but fanon nonetheless.

 

However...it's hard to see anyone winning versus overpowered Tirek. Underestimate him, and he curb stomps you. I can see Sombra & Chrysalis maybe trying for an alliance with him, but Discord & NMM...I dunno.

Tirek would need to absorb quite a bit of ponies to deal with Discord; i'm not sure if he could steal enough magic to contend with him before being noticed. Sombra was enough to require two alicorns to not quite killl him defeat him; he could possibly contend with Nightmare Moon.

I know, but I think Tirek could pull it off. I mean yeah, Discord is devious, but damn...the way he opened himself up to defeat at the end of "Return of Tambelon Harmony" just...doesn't give me much confidence that he wouldn't be outsmarted by Tirek's silver tongue.

 

As for Sombra, it's just difficult to judge. All Celestia says was that he was banished, and the animation only gave us two alicorn silhouettes that joined their horns to defeat him. We don't really know if they used the Elements, that they thought banishing him would be enough, or if they simply couldn't kill him.

 

While I think Sombra COULD take on NMM, part of me feels he'd rather form an alliance. Then again, I'm an over-thinker.

Grogar has no actual feats, so I sadly can't classify him. Probably not as powerful as the others, but probably.

 

Nightmare Moon was slightly more powerful than Celestia.

Chrysalis overpowered Celestia easily.

Tirek killed Queen Majesty, who's Celestia's G1 counterpart.

Discord is in an obvious place.

Lavan in crystal form is supposed to be indestructible. Only the Rainbow of Light shattered him.

Tirek from G4 already overpowered Discord by a long margin.

Smooze is just impossible to defeat. He's immortal and becomes bigger by seconds, he'll be eating the Solar System if the fight becomes too long.
