What was the point in redeeming Trixie?

What was the point? In Discord's case, his reformation was because they wanted to do more stories with him, but after Trixie was redeemed in Magic Duel we haven't seen her since.

I would say because they were low on ideas and some Bronykin actually like her so yeah they might put her in S5

Edit: oh the apology not the episode well I would say exactaly what the others before me said

Well, here's the thing: Magic Duel was the ONLY EPISODE since Trixie's first in season 1. It's reasonable that we haven't seen her recently.

Could be viably made into something similar to Discord. That would be great.

I don't find it pointless to have redeemed Trixie without a possibility for her return. On the contrary, it was actually the best way to send her off without really hinting at or even creating a need to bring her back.

Whatever she's doing to get her life back on track doesn't really affect the Mane 6 and doesn't really leave all that many doors open for another episode, but that seems like yet another nice opportunity for fanfiction left open for us by our friends on the writing staff. :)

Boast Busters had that line at the end. I may be paraphrasing but I think when Rainbow Dash started to chase after Trixie, Twilight said, "Let her go. Maybe one day she'll learn her lesson."

That was put there so that the story can be touched on later. Magic Duel was the 'one day'.

However the thread is still hanging as she ran off again. To be continued

Because Trixie is fabulous.

That, and it was no only a good sendoff, but it left doors open for a return that I pine for - on with her playing the role of an anti-hero :D

*fingers crossed*

But yeahh - it was a win/win because it sent her off right but allowed the possibility of a return :D

Basically what everyone else said. She apologized and they forgave her. Maybe the writers have something planned in season 5. One can only hope.

Maybe the Mane 6 will need her talent in stage magic to launch some kind of diversion for... Something. I dunno it ain't perfect.

With help, Trixie could be as good at Magic as Twilight just as with Lightning Dust could be as good a flier as Rainbow Dash.

Both of these two believe they have to do everything alone to prove they are the best at what they do. Twilight has already shown Trixie that having friends is more important that how much magic prowess a pony has. Now we just need Lightning Dust to realise the same thing (i've read the original episode ended with her telling RD she was right to call her out for recklessness. They should have gone with that ending.)

I personally think it's a little ambiguous as to whether or not Trixie has been redeemed in any meaningful way. Yes, she apologized, but it's not clear whether she apologized because she thought seeking revenge against Twilight was wrong or because her method of doing so went out of her control. Also, she only apologized to Twilight, not to any of the other ponies whose lives she made miserable throughout Magic Duel. Finally, she immediately went back to tooting her own horn in the third person as "The Great and Apologetic Trixie".

Actually, in the comic books, Trixie has become a nice well-rounded character. People want her redeemed because she's the tragic down-on-her-luck character who never gives up, even when life shoots her down. No doubt, she needed to learn a lesson in humility before we could love her.

I think she's like a foil for Twilight Sparkle; showing us how Twilight's life could have been different if she didn't have friends. Kinda like Naruto and Gaara.
