I have watched Dragon Ball Z, Death Note, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon, and I'll look into Bleach, which I've read manga of, but haven't watched many episodes.

I just ran through Michiko e Hatchin right before college started (all episodes within 2 days).

I am currently going through Barakamon, Zankyo No Terror, Hanamonogatari, and Scrapped Princess. But due to college taking up all my friggin' time, I haven't watch any anime (or pony) in weeks :fiery:

Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation -and- Danganronpa: The Animation.

They're both pretty cool so far, but I especially love the latter one. Seriously, I'm itching to continue watching it. :P

I've currently been watching Sword Art Online. Just hit the second season which is definitely inferior to the first and really kind of struggles to keep momentum. It really should of just ended with the one season to leave it off on a good note.

Decided to watch some Code Geass

The whole time watching that I was like "What the heck is going on?". It felt super convoluted at times and would randomly break the stride of the story with absolutely pointless filler when I feel they could of taken a bit more time to deepen the story instead of glossing over everything.

As a general rule, I abhor animes. Most of it's on a cultural level, but I'm often not a fan of the animation style, nor can I stand the stupid faces. That being said, there are a chosen few fit for my viewing. Currently I've been watching Wangan Midnight. I was a huge initial D fan, so this was the obvious next step. And unless someone can recommend me another series in the same vein, this is probably where I'm gonna end it.

I'm currently 6 episodes into Revolutionary Girl Utena. It's not amazing so far, but it's fun and has some rather interesting stylistic traits, like the shadow puppet interludes (which I adore), the cool prog-rock inspired soundtrack during the duels, and the use of repetition as a storytelling device. I hear it's supposed to become a self-indulgent arty mess as it goes along. I am so psyched.

Got recommended by a friend to watch FullMetal Alchemist, So far I'm enjoying far more than I pictured I would. It's epic!

You're friend (and you too!) have awesome taste then  :D Is it the first series or the Brotherhood series you're watching? Both are excellent either way.

Was it culturally you don't like about anime, if you don't mind me asking? Is it just motor racing series you'd be interested in? That's not a genre I'm a big fan of or even relatively familiar on so can't give any in that genre, sorry  :( closest I could recommend as a "racing" anime would be the film Redline. If you're interested in recommendations in any other genres I'd be glad to give a few  :D

It'd be hard for me to pinpoint just exactly what it is I don't like, but I'm just not a fan of Japanese culture in general, and many animes deliver a far too concentrated dose of it for me to enjoy. I realize that quite a few animes are actually made in other countries now, but I have other reasons for not liking those.

To put it simply, car-culture is my culture. Initial D and Wangan get that. It's hard to tell whether the real main character is the driver or the car. Plus they throw in nice little bonuses like driving and set-up tips.

Was on a bit of a hiatus from anime for a while, but I decided to continue watching the 2nd half of Sword Art Online S1 earlier. I dunno how much more of the adventures of unrequited incest and Gary Sue I can take, but the last episode I watched addressed those issues a bit and was actually pretty good(Grand Quest), so I guess I'll see how this season ends at least(and if it can end it well, not super confident in it about that tho). It's just... kind of a guilty pleasure for me at this point I guess. :P

Just think of it this way: even though the show's finished you've still got it all to watch and enjoy. Plus, you know when you do finish it it's at least got a proper ending and wasn't something that got cancelled, that's always a big plus.

I can understand a bit, there are quite a few things in anime that can be very Japanese culturally specific, even very small things, so it can seem strange to people why characters are doing certain things if they're not familiar with the culture. I personally enjoy learning a bit about other cultures. I think it's a bit unfair and dismissive though just to brush anime off for being "too Japanese", if it's Japanese anime then it's bound to have cultural elements to it same way an American tv series or film can have a lot of native cultural elements to it. There are a few anime that actually have more foreign cultural elements to them, usually ones not set in Japan or are deliberately trying to cater to a foreign/international audience.

But, yeah, as for racing/car anime I've got nothing besides Redline.
