@@Blitz Boom, Just responded to your post, and it was a dozy!  Like I said, had no question on the quality of post you could bring up even if that pesky bug wouldn't let ya focus.  Well done.  I THINK I know what you're starting to play at to merge it.  I think at this point, it's a good way to start introducing others if you so wish.  Honestly, I thought the big face-to-face confrontation was going to be good, but ya put it on hiatus, and I trust this will build into something grander.

Thank you, but... Okay, bit of honest time here? I had no idea about what I were doing before I started writing it. I just needed some way to give the changelings less of an edge, and with Giddon wounded (You will find out why soon enough) I needed another force.

 

Then I remembered that I had added some diamond dogs amongst the mind controlled cultists, and it just went from there. How this is going to pan out I have no idea, but eh, winging it tends to be fun too.

 

And speaking of winging it: Just read ya post. Well done turning it to your advantage. ^^

@@Blitz Boom, Well, I am not trying to turn it to 'my' advantage.  I am just working with what I see and what I think Chrysalis will do, with her being a sort of tactical genius and manipulator, and play a lot of Vampire: The Masquerade, which kinda makes that line of thinking a necessity, it seemed to be the right move.

 

Keep in mind, Bashful is a manipulator, he's just terrible at it (I thought he would be good at it, but I think he's far more entertaining as inept in what Changelings SHOULD be good at.  I am noticing though, he actually doesn't have much for strengths.  Maybe that will change).

Almost forgot to ask you: With the talk about dreamers and Senlin not too far off from getting rest, are you aiming for some dream land adventure? Could always tie it in with the adventure that @@cwhip9, and me are having if that were. If all parties are wanting of course.

Hence the earlier idea lol. Still, if ya got something in mind that Bashful would make a good addition to feel free. I trust ya for plot

Brittle's not the only changeling here. There is a whole family of changelings at the castle ruins, and there is Doctor Miles Xeno: a changeling from a hive that uses more peaceful methods to gain sustenance. He has lived among the ponies for a while, working at a hospital, but also makes house calls for the Princesses and their guests. He is trained to treat many different species and has an interest in Everwood magic, a versatile kind of magic that, while being very useful for a great number of things, also disrupts changeling magic.

So the Changelings you guys use are from a more passive hive?  Interesting.  Are they known through Equestria, or do they hide like most changelings I would imagine? 

 

As for Bashful's capabilities, they are very limited (I am actually struggling to find a strength for him right now, or have him grow into it).  Changing physical form (Doesn't gain properties outside of it, like Unicorn Magic or Earth Pony Strength), Producing the green ooze to make cocoons or bind, and very very limited changeling magic (Beam blast, which was all that was displayed in MLP so that's what I am sticking with).  He's very much out-matched with these other Changelings, which could be interesting, especially if this counter-magic they study from Everwood also cancels a changelings transformation ability.

 

Up til now I have been assuming that Changelings are somewhat of an 'arrest on sight' situation.

Actually, both my lings aren't in hives.

 

Brittle is a converted changeling that were broken out of her egg by somepony unknown during the process, which is why she still haves her mane, tail, a blurred remnant of a cutie mark and aren't under the hivemind control. Yet, she were too far along and her memories of who she were are gone, and her physical transformation is basically complete with the exoskeleton, horn, insect wings and the whole nine yards. More stuff in her bios, but basically, she have never been part of a hive and spent most of her changeling life on the road or (before that) trapped in a circus. As to what one her hive were before... I could imagine Chrysalis' really, as she have been known to convert those her hive drains. Are in the comics and all.

 

As for Happy Hour, he still Thinks he's part of a wandering hive with a base north of Equestria, but since they had a habit of stealing members from other hives and eventually took some from Chrysalis thinking she wasn't a threat to be taken seriously... Let's just say that whoever were left alive, is part of Chrysalis' hive now. If that involves the queen isn't for me to say. All I have set up is that he is unaware of his hive's demise, and keeps up his mission thinking everything is still okay. It should be a right shocker when he meets Chrysalis or any from her hive frankly.

 

As for Bashful's special abilities: why not have him being able to make his goo into thread and needles? Far as I know, if it is the bile they use for the walls of their home, it hardens and gets shape fast. If he can then spin it, or make a form before it goes hardened/his bile isn't as solid as most, whcich means he could make improve thread/rope from it, there would be something there?

 

Oh, and the *arrest on sight* with changelings seems - from what I have seen with RP with Seamore - to be considered only if they overtly hide themselves. The ones being openly so aren't arrested... But are then under suspicion from all their neighbours. A tricky one really.

Miles is not from the same hive as any of the other characters here. He has been linked telepathically to the changelings in the castle, though. Being linked to a new hive involves certain actions and direct physical contact. As for Doctor Miles himself, the fact that he is a changeling isn't public knowledge, but it is known by the authorities and his employers. He does disguise himself in public. He was actually in Canterlot before Queen Crysalis ever attacked. Getting permits to live disguised among ponies would be a bit more difficult since then, but not impossible.

And the only shipping I'm doing is the Fluffle/Chrysalis, Fluttercord and Applespike. :3 And that's mainly because the Bride of Discord fanfic and Fluffle Puff is what brought me into this fandom, so it holds some couplings I thought were working well. ^^

And a lot seem to run into the flu these days. I am still in the last clutches of one, and I can sympathise with not having the energy to do things here. Just good to hear that you are getting over it. No fun in having that coursing through you.
