Casual Stroll - An Introductionary RP mainly around Equestria OOC [Open Entry For All]

D'aaaahh... just caught up on some reading and I was reading the ongoing efforts with @BloodDrops, there @Blitz Boom. There's very little a carnivore can pick from in Equestria without being a straight-up murderer. Deer are fully sentient in this world. Sure, I'm working off the comics where they've been just as often portrayed as mere critters, but sufficed to say if they  have huge, sprawling, elvish tree cities, a culture of their own, fully capable of conversing with ponies and enough magical power to cause the Everfree Forest to overgrow into & threaten Canterlot itself...  just offhandedly spearing a deer isn't going to go off easily. 

 I'm not trying to force a change here, but that still is murder there.

  Arguably, while a number of bunnies do show sentience, that does seem rather more like pet levels. Anything smaller than a sheep ought work, I should say. Cows even have had speaking roles as the sheep have had. Pigs haven't, so there's room there. Point is... killing a nearby deer is kind of like dragging back the body of the local convenience store for the zombie to snack on. Moral Quandary.

 Also, I know peeps love their Timber Wolves, but they can't possibly hunt for food. They have no clear organs, there's no logical point in treating them like living wolves.

  Oh... and I had an idea.... Say, if your desperate, greenhorn cadet prayed out loud for rescue... by somepony... or any being at all~~*

Well its either feed me a few things here and there, before i get hungry and bite some pony turning them into a zombie thus spreading a zombie virus to every sentient species on Equestria. So its a lesser evil really. That or we try from page 120 and you find a cure for Blood Drops, though she wouldn't want to be cured and your going to have to force it upon her, now that's mortally questionable as well.

Dragons eat meat, so whatever they eat i can eat, logically speaking anyway. Or find me something fish related to eat.

  Tell me! How do you feel about being completely reworked from a molecular level? I'll have to come up with some six options sos we can roll a die and see what we get!

     I'm kinda the answer to everything on account of not really relating to anything in existence! I am because I'm not!

And I don't have much time, but when I said deer @Widdershins I meant a deer. I don't go by the comics, and even if I did, a sentient deer of that kind was unlikely to just be grazing around in the Everfree Forest.

I am specifically giving you this guard so that I won't have to explain to everypony why I'm locking them in and setting Ponyville on fire to contain the infection. A small offer in the grand scheme of things.

Alright, with a bit more time then, let me cover things more thoroughly.

Basically, even if there are sentient deer races, I still didn't consider that as a thing I had to care much for, as there would surely be critters of a more basic kind as well. having had time to read up on it now however, I will be changing it to a wild Boar, to make things simpler. As you say, pigs aren't sentient, so this should be easy.

As for Deer in general, I may or may not have current plans for interaction between them and a certain Dryad, likely off camera. It will fit well with something I've tried to make fit in my head for a time. But that is besides the point, let's get back to it.

Now we come to Timber Wolves, and I give you this to consider: If they are not to be considered creatures who eat prey, why do they hunt? They clearly show interest in trying to hunt down ponies from what I've seen, and as simple beasts essentially, there wouldn't be a point in that unless it were to eat them. Animals usually doesn't kill just for fun (some exceptions exists of course) and if it were just to chase them off their territory, they wouldn't be followed for that long.

And I chose the Timberwolves because frankly, Sloppy Joe is a wimp, and he'd never go anywhere near a Manticore or a Chimera, as those are far more dangerous. Also less abundant, from what I understand.

I already had Nerzhei save him, so Widders were too late there, sorry. :/ I did not plan an extra reply today, and I didn't have the focus to check the OOC. Still, he will need to get meat again soon enough, so always an option to have him fish up Widdershins for example.

Oh, and dragons eating gems only wouldn't make much sense to me, as the amount of dragons on a relatively small place like Dragon Island would have gotten through the gem deposits ages ago, since gems doesn't exactly grow in a few days. Also, dragons going to Equestria would eventually starve, as there's not big clusters of them everythwere, and ponies assign value to them. So I consider it more of a preference thing, and then try not to overdo it.

As an example, Benny eats gems, and not meat, whilst Nerzhei keep a balanced diet, and rarely eat gems, as she sees more value in them for her research and as goods than snacks.

As for the plans that you and @BloodDrops seems to have, I look forward to seeing what you might come up with, though I have to wonder how much worse it's going to get. Current guess? Blood will grow wings and vomit a fluid that makes ponies go all 28 Days Later.

 Yeh. I'll go with the boar thing from now on. They have what seems to be a sort of Angel Bunny level of sentience to them, but still, open hunting there I'd say. Wild Boars do have a reputation for being... just absolute monsters.

 Ah, well, animals frequently do though. I idolize animals as most any other nature lover would, but they do hold their own wars. Not to an extent it does lasting damage to the ecosystem (usually) as human wars have been known to, but Nature can be every bit as vicious as the results of politics can. There are fish that go out of their way to hunt and kill far more prey then they need for seemingly sheer evil fun, dolphins that will gang up on single, wandering sharks and in my personal experience: We used to raise chickens. Cute, fluffy ones, but they would literally gang up to murder each opposing side on a regular basis since we couldn't afford separate pens. Never put nothin' beyond nature, I say. I wouldn't doubt there's critter-deer too. Enough of a fuzzy line there, even if I am planning my own Stag OC.

 I have heard some theories that Timber Wolves are spirit guardians of the Everfree. Or, as a simpler explanation, just a general maliciousness to put in the show for temporary measures. After all, hurting puppies is kind of pushing it in kids' media no matter how evil you portray them. We have seen Spike hunted down & chased by them and Applejack's family has had an ongoing feud with them for generations for having set up shop right on the edge of the Everfree. The point I'm stuck on with Timber Wolves is when they broke apart, and chose to reassemble into one big one. That clearly shows that whatever organs or consciousness they have is interchangeable. Maybe not enough to keep OCs from being made, sure, but that still forfeits any right to count them among the living in my mind.

   ...huh... wonder what would happen if zombification magic got involved there...

Now dearie. That would imply that time actually meant anything to me! I'm already planning to be in three entirely separate continuities by simple explanation of all matter theoretically existing everywhere it can potentially be! If I can be somewhere, then I probably already have, and if I was then I still am. 

 Something tells me Quantum Theory would play well into confusion magic.

 The Crystal Kingdom. Entire buildings made of the stuff.

  We've seen crystals grow right out of unicorns' horns. Sufficed to say that in this dimension, crystals aren't rocks and go by their own rules. Granted Magic-Crystals is likely different then naturally occurring ones. But pretty much every town on the planet of Equestria has a mine wall-to-wall with pillars of crystals. We've often seen entire rooms carved entirely out of... oh huh, that's right. Twilight's solid crystal castle. Entirely organically grown right outta the ground. Considering how Spike downs gems like candy to the point where no crystal is safe around him like most of the ones Rarity carves, its a pretty big part of his diet at least. That's not to say, of course, that a choice like Nerzhei isn't possible. But rarity doesn't come into play with gems in this world. In fact... since when have gems been currency in Equestria? Thought it was just decorative with Rarity's designs?

  I will admit, depleting a place of gems is possible. Though that "dragon island" was just used as a gathering spot for the trial of leadership. 

  But ah, my point is that gems ain't rare in this world. Twilight keeps a stockpile of gems on hoof for her dragon assistant, likely where he doesn't know. Spike did bake them into a cake once like they were just berries.  Let's see... know Canterlot has a Crystal Mine as well as the Crystal Kingdom... Ponyville has at least three... the Pie Family rockfarm has one... at least three other big ones out in the wild for various other comic-book adventures...

As I said, there are exceptions. Some animals can be vicious and hunt mainly for fun, or just because they're annoyed that others live there. Several fish species eradicate every other species they are put near for example. I'm just not seeing a majority being this way.

As for assembling, reassembling and such, I kinda guess that Hasbro doesn't want their show to involve copious amount of entrails, which was why I always assumed in the clips I saw, that the wolves didn't show those. I always figure thatit's more interchangeable too, like veins inside the tree, but what do I know? And besides, the boar might have just really gotten on their nerves, I just write a perspective. Though really, until it becomes canon that they don't hunt and are actually just spirits that doesn't need sustenance, I will veer towards them having a need to feed. However, that is just my opinion, and as long as I don't show them actively eating something (I haven't yet) it all comes down to the perception of the characters. Perhaps when Lyriel gets more acquainted with the forest and its creatures, I will use her for a more spiritual approach, such as you say have been theorized, but all in due time. @dragon4111 needs to be done with her first.

And in regards to the whole gem situation, I repeat that I don't watch the show, just use Wiki and see a few clips out of context here and there. In my perspective, barring the crystal kingdom, it didn't seem like gems were anything that just popped up everywhere. So I stand corrected.

As for the use of gems as currency, I am running with that, at least for some gem variants. Otherwise the mine RP I'm also in, and Clayton in general, wouldn't make much sense anymore. Shall we compromise and say that there are different groups that involves the far more naturally (and magically) occurring crystals like with Twillight's castle, Rarity's decorative gems, most of what Spike gets his grubby little hands on, etc. And then there's precious gems, which are far more rare occurring, or in the case of the Changeling Emeralds I use with EQ_Theta and Shineling, needs to be handled correctly to be wearable,a nd are therefore also considered rare.

Crystals, and Gems, where dragons can eat both, but it's smarter to go with Crystals as nopony would care, whereas say, a raw, uncut gem (Let's go with uncut being rare, to make it easier, as the Wii says they usually are dug up already cut) would be akin to your dog eating a stacked wallet.

Also, checking the wiki, it actually says that ponies does use gems as alternate currency. Something about the CMC using a small one for a pet dryers, Rarity using it as payment on hotels, etc. so at least certain kinds of gems must have varying kinds of value.

And for the record, you saying you have an idea makes me nervous. I think I'm starting to know you too well to think that a Widder-surprise will only end in madness, and potentially pancakes. xD

Well, I feel it is important to make others feel important. Like, no matter what I toss in, I want others to leave feeling like the story they wove could never have had turned out any better or different if it hadn't been for their own involvement. I want an all-around good experience for all, you know?

  That being said, wanted to ask if you had anything else to pitch in about coming to terms with a strange animal, @Foxy Socks? I really only know Doggie mentality myself, not so much cats and you're moreso the local animal expert around these here parts.

I am rather very cautious still about utilizing Cannon Characters though, @~Phoenix~. Kind of feels like a heavy tool to weld, you know? Kind of why I felt I could do Rarity justice. Hints of intelligence & kindness, but still that slight backhande-... BackHoofed? kind of snooty way of talking. 

Oh.

  And I want Full Claim to being Bon-Bon, @Blitz Boom! On the entirety of the forums even, if possible! Only my headcannon shall count! Lyra, I'm willing to share/dicker on, but I feel my general tone of Futile Badflankery fits the retired Secret Agent Globetrotting Mare bestest!    ...didn't I temporarily play Bon-Bon & Lyra a while ago...?...

 Oh stop it yourself, you.   It's called over-exaggeration! That's the point of the humor there!

 

  Well, if you want it, Pienix. I am known for knee-jerk criticism. 

   Think stuff like this calls for a bit of... what to call it, Method Acting? Find what you think works for the voice of the character? Like, as I've pointed out, you do tend to be overly quiet. A lot of scene and descriptors, but if you character only goes some, maybe, three actual spoke words an hour then... well, that plays on the character. Something like Dash needs to be a bit.... I dunno, Mouthy? She is, after all, the sort of bullheaded jock of the group. Think you were on the right track there, having her practically call out her attacks.

 Think I've said that oft time before, maybe even here. That Lyra's pretty normal and a sort of nerd for the mythical "humans" of her world that are only storybook characters to most. But Bon-Bon (Actal Name: Bom DeLa Petard; she's originally from Prance, she's just had intense training to hide her accent! ) however... is a colossal flirt from her thrill ride life around the world and a pretty high-octane paranoid because she really has almost everything happen to her. Wouldn't be surprised if she single-hoofidly took down that Bugbear herself originally!  Just the shtick there, is that Sweetie Drops has a hard time adjusting to civilian life. Even in a town like Ponyville, its still a fraction of the action she's used to and she's prone to seeing adventure where it's not or taking on guises or voices when its not called for. 

   ...also, she might be another mare that might have a history with Widdershins. She was basically in a Paranormal Containment Agency after all.

@Widdershins Phoenix is teribly quiet. i didn't originally have her that way. but it just seemed to fit her a bit better. my original take on Phoenix's character is that she would be a bit sarcastic and snarky, but after a while i suppose she took on a bit of a softer disposition. rather than being hostile to anyone who dare invade her space, she's rather quiet and curious. in fact, i suppose it's a bit of a take of me in real life. 

see, i'm sure someone like you can understand that you always have a lot of words going through your head. that's a lot of what i'm like too. i can hold entire conversations with myself inside of my head. i can think about my surroundings, what i'm going to do once i get off work, what my strategy is in this video game i'm playing. constantly there are all of these narratives. However, even when i'm around people, not a lot of words actually come out of my mouth. 

it's a lot like what Phoenix does. she makes TONS and i mean TONS of mental analyses, and then she simply doesn't see the need to say anything unless she has a question (which is more often the case), or it's to convey something important. 

 

any-who, after writing over 1000 characters about my mind and whatnot, let's talk about Rainbowdash. that's most certainly a fair bit of criticism. it's something i'm trying to adapt to, considering i don't normally write that way (a lot of the time i simply write my own character). i think i'm doing okay so far, but you certainly leave something to aspire to.

Och, aye. Think that's ground you've trodden me through before, @~Phoenix~. It does make sense there to be cautious with the more a life has had to deal with. A sort of mix of being snippy & calculatingly quiet. Kinda like Starlight Glimmer, now that I think about it!

  There's just the trouble of giving out enough for other characters to react to. Aaaaand I may be way too far off on the other end of that spectrum to be talking too much about that!

@Widdershins i do think i give blitz a run for his money sometimes. i tend to have LOTS of monologue and not alot of action. i try though, and he seems to make alot more of it than i do. Smokey is almost like someone just watching a dog curiously sniff around. 

though, she is getting a little more comfortable with Smokey, and as a result she has been a bit more vocal.
