Why was today's birthdays removed?

I think it was nice to see whose birthday it was. Now I have to go community-calendar then select events and click the day to see them.

 

So I would like to know if there was any reason for doing this.

Don't panic @ooBrony. The Birthday Hook may have been taken offline temporarily while the site issues are being reviewed. It is not an uncommon UAT (testing) or trouble shooting process to review individual hooks and elements on boards like IPB when there are known issues or a potential resolution is being evaluated.  php arrays, echoes, DB, .tpl files, etc are sometimes checked for compatibility issues and to eliminate potential root causes. In short, please pardon the dust while the team works on the site.

I just checked: all hooks relevant to the birthday system are online, and the necessary settings are set properly to show the birthday pane on the board index. Why it's not showing up despite that is a mystery to me.

I actually have the same problem but is it really a problem if it hasn't effected me in any way, is the sole reason i didn't say anything myself.

This issue is fixed now. I have encountered this issue before, so if/when it does arise it is likely a temporary problem.
