Priestess could sense it. Ashes. Complex starches. Glucose. The wafting aromas of chemical reactions. Surrounded by the unmistakable scent of smoke.

"Oh somepony is doing some old school camping. Now I'm hungry!"

It was right in the direction of where they were going anyways.

Syo was hiding among the trees as she observed the group from afar. She had her key staff out just in case they were hostile and need a quick escape. Then she overheard an interesting topic.

The spider has Dimonds growing out of its skin, venom imbued with chaos based magic, and webbing with regenerative properties. In fact, a certain pink pony I know had an accident, she was hit in the jaw while she had her tongue out. Needless to say she lost a good portion of her tongue. Anyway, a unicorn tried to help her grow back her tongue using Diamond Spider Silk. It worked, but because she wasn't well versed in chaos based magics there were side effects, her coat grew uncontrollably and she now looks like a giant ball of cotton candy. She's since tried cutting it but it just grows right back

"My point is the Diamond spider is worth something too, if you can kill it. However, the webbing may be hard to sell because you would have to find a buyer with an interest in chaos magic."

"Do you really have to kill it?" Syo commented as she emerged from her hiding place and teleported to the ground, walking towards the group. She slid her goggles up to her forehead as she approached them, holding her key staff with her two paws in front of her in case of a sudden retaliation. "Are you willing to risk someone getting injured like that pink pony you mentioned?"

"I guess... if you don't mind, I can be a bit heavy." Melke said as he got closer and eventually was on your back. "Maybe, I can help you look for your ink afterward.

"It's not good enough yet. I still have to make it show Pinkie's face and the wheels."

"Pinkie?  I guess that's another pony in town?  Well, I suppose anypony would LOVE to see themselves in fireworks, so I'll take it as read this one's special?  Okay, well... I guess that's something we could work on..."

Dax had never met Pinkie Pie; he'd never been to Ponyville before, due to his ties to the rather notorious Blackwater family.  He didn't know of anypony except his family, a few of the staff at the mines, and these two.  But he had heard a few things in passing, which he was thinking about right now...

"Oh, and the ones who says I can't blow up things anymore just say I can't do it in town, and they come around for fireworks now and again so I don't think they're mad. Not even at the confetti bomb, even though It took a while to clean up. But hey, my own fault for not testing it more.  Anyway, things to make less time and stuff. I think I got most things to make some fun stuff with, but I could use ideas, themes, and then see help finding more things if I don't have it. Just hope there's enough Timberwolf bark, but I Did get more after that pony came around yesterday so... Yeah,  should be enough. But I ramble ramble ramble! We should start and, and..."

It was good to hear nopony was actively upset with Blitz... in fact, as kind and 'zippy' as she was, he couldn't fathom how anypony could be upset with her.  Of course, he couldn't think any ill of her - or little Angel, for that matter.

Angel actually was rather adorable, and not at all like his bratty brother.  He was beginning to see that not all ponies were created equal - and that not all ponies were angry with him, either.  He was so happy to have found acceptance at last.

"Ideas! Anypony have any? And I swear, I won't tell anypony about this Angel. Not that I have many to tell it too after getting kicked from school, but still counts."

Dax's thoughts finally began to crystallize, and he had an idea after all...

"Hey, I got one... I heard once or twice about something called the 'elements of harmony', and it seemed like everypony knew what they were..."  Everypony but me, he thought.  "Maybe, since so many ponies know about 'em, you could make a display based on that?  Does that sound good to the two of you?"

He really hoped Blitz or Angel knew what he was talking about; he sure didn't.

Cresent just about jumped out of his coat when the cat appered. Having not seen one like this, at all for that matter but the cat did rasie an good point of warning of this spider. Cresent saw he could make double the bits he lost more on the crystals the spider had, but was it worth killing it? he had to sit and watch to get the full story

"Yes," Seamore said having forgotten that this is what he was talking about before he had begun to sing. "As I was telling these other ponies before you arrived, I have a permit to cut down one Everwood tree. These trees are highly valued and receiving one of these permits is incredibly rare. However, a giant Diamond Spider, about three or four times as tall as me, has moved into the section of forest they grow in," he said, his estimation being in an unsure tone as Seamore was never good at estimating. "The spider has Dimonds growing out of its skin, venom imbued with chaos based magic, and webbing with regenerative properties. In fact, a certain pink pony I know had an accident, she was hit in the jaw while she had her tongue out. Needless to say she lost a good portion of her tongue. However, the webbing may be hard to sell because you would have to find a buyer with an interest in chaos magic."

Cresent had seen some bits of chaos magic, he had an hunch an zebra neighbor or one of his griffon friends might know the cure, pluse it sounded pretty neat honestly to test his blade against something that wasn't an practice dummy for once.

"No, you don't. Perhaps that will change later, but you never know what time will bring after all."

The tip of her long horn glowed the deep purple as a sealed scroll with the tournaments logo on floated from under her cape and towards Cubus, avoiding the fire and placing itself next to him.

"A scroll to each of the five from the tournament. I don't know what it says, but I doubt it is something awe-inspiring as Cubus and the third did not react much upon it."

Reminding herself of her task once more she looked around at all the gathered ponies and the talking, magical cat before giving a small smirk and locking her eyes on Caliber again.

"In any case, you seem to have an adequate gathering for dealing with an animal here, so I might as well go on with my task and see if I can find the siblings. Perhaps I will check in later and see who was the victor of your fight."

Vivid took a step back and dissipated into purple smoke that vanished shortly thereafter, teleported in her own way towards Ponyville to see if he could find any trace that Zenru and the small one had come to town yet. If there wasn't, she could return to these and help them perhaps. It would be an interesting thing to watch, and the chance to tear a giant beast into shreds? Now, who could resist such a thing?

Last Stand returned to watching the off pony closely once her horn started to glow and the scroll floated towards Caliber. It wouldn't stop until she had vanished, but after that she just shrugged it off and made a mental note to raw a blade the next time this one was around. Dang weird one hadn't even given them a name.

Taking the sane things to speak off first she nodded towards Crescent to sort of acknowledge he was there. She'd share her name later, but for now, something Seamore had said made her want to say something first, and the talking cat.. Well, one oddity at a time.

"Y'know, you keep mentioning that permit of yours. Mind if we had a look at it?"

She wasn't anypony who was good with law, but somepony else here might be that could make some sense in it if it was a confusing piece of paper. Besides, she just wanted to see if he actually had it at this point. The weird one had made her paranoia flare a bit, so it was more or less just to calm things down in her head.

After that, she turned towards the talking cat with the staff in it's paws  - a sentence she had never thought she would actually have to think - and just addressed what the cat had said rather than the 30 other questions she had towards the unusual feline.

"He isn't making us go into combat though, he's asking. And frankly if I have to go down, then let it be in battle."

"An admirable sentence, but should life not be more precious than that?"

The voice came just before Briar slowly walked out from the trees near where Syo was standing currently.

He had been close enough to hear most of the words that Seamore had mentioned about the spider and the other things said by the group of attendees with him, as the wind had carried them well in his direction, but he hadn't been able to get up to them much faster than this. Not after he took his vines back to avoid accidentally hitting somepony. It would have made him slower to the *finish line* and he knew that Priestess had either ran along or were watching this whole scene unfold somewhere, but for now, he would try and keep his focus more on this rather than were his conversation partner had run off too exactly.

"My most profound apologies for interrupt your conversation, but I would agree with the voice near me. It could be dangerous, and though some might be willing to toss themselves into battle,- a choice that is their own to make of course - perhaps something that would result in no casualties would be a good approach if such a thing is possible?"

After that, he faced his closed *eyes* towards each being he could hear, or feel the wind flow around, then tried to make it so that he faced towards the general middle area of them and gave them a big, friendly (but toothy) smile.

"And before I forget my manner: Good evening to you all. Briar Trapjaw, at your service."

A low chuckle could be heard nearby the two ponies.

"And here I thought looking in town to find you would be pointless."

Suddenly, purple smoke started to gather a few meters in front of the two tournament ponies and soon a pony stood there to accompany the disembodied voice that was heard just before.

"It must be my lucky day. After all, you are not an easy pony to find Zenru."

She acknowledged there was the fifth there as well, but Zenru was her main concern, and the reason she kept a good distance for now. How strong he was she had no idea, but he was the top of the Equestrian swordsponies, and had been for a while now according to the tournament ponies she had spoken to. It made him an unknown quantity of sorts, and when around the filly... Well, protective manners could bring ponies to drastic and instinctive behaviour that could end with her with a blade pressed against her throat, and that wasn't something she was interested in.

Then he noticed she had one eye open, multiple questions sprang up but he kicked them for a latter day.

Then this green pony showed up, the more cresent sat through this the more he realized this might be something bigger then an simple hunt, as the two ponys spoke he was slowly begging to connect the dots, he then focused his blood hearing on Seamore, what else was he saying, and was he hiding something more?

Briar focused on the voice who had successfully called him out on what he was with a raised eyebrow.

"Very well seen. Most ponies tend to either mistake me for a regular pony until they get near enough or ask. To meet a pony who have met with with my kind before and does not need that part of the introduction however is a rather rare situation. Perhaps when the current endeavour is over I might inquire a bit further on how you know my kind?"

With what was told it did not sound like a situation where he could stand around and chat all the night. Not if they truly wished to go in and hunt the spider they spoke of. Yet, it would also present him with an interesting choice he might ponder himself whilst things progressed: If he would stick around and help so that he might be near when the time for action had passed and words could be a focus. Something to think about for certain.

"I can baseline it for those who doesn't know for now and say that in a sense you can consider me a plant of sorts."

Crescent would be able to hear there were more to it than a simple plant. Because whilst Briar was technically fauna and no blood pumped through him, he still had another liquid that pumped through his veins and a heart beating calmly in his chest. He might not be of flesh and blood, but it didn't mean he was massively different from the regular ponies and bat ponies.

Crescent might also be able to hear something else, that being Last reaching the slab of paper towards Caliber with a nudge and saying to him, somewhat low:

"Either I need glasses or he does, cause that ain't saying one tree in my book."

Meanwhile, over with the others, Briar turned around and *looked* towards where Syo were.

"Perhaps I could also inquire about you at a point when there is time for it? I have never heard a cat talk before and I must admit, it is quite intriguing."

Briar figured that perhaps the cat was magically infused, or a race he had not heard of before. But he weren't good at judging either really, and especially not magic. That kind took specific kinds of magic to feel out, and there might be some parts of nature magic that could do so, but not his. No, his nature magic was more directed at letting him control his currently hidden vines and his telekinesis via the flower on his head (the source of most Evergrown magic). More than that, at least amongst his kind, would likely have required a Lotus elder or somepony similar.

Angel stopped dead in her tracks when Blitz started staring at her, the look in her eyes scared Angel slightly. "Umm...ideas...well, what kind of stuff have you made before? I mean you're pretty good with ponies, you could do us, or mom, or even him!" She said while staring over at Dax excitedly.

"Aww why were you kicked out of school? Is it because you make cool things and they just didn't like it? Well I like you anyway, even if you did get kicked out" Angel said while quickly giving her new friend a reassuring hug. Angel still wasn't used to the whole hugging random ponies thing but this one had hugged her a few times already so she figured she might as well go for it herself.

"About this Pinkie Pie..I've seen posters for parties and stuff around town with her name on it. Maybe that's what she does?" She said turning back over to Dax. She hoped she wasn't giving too much away about seeing the posters, normally they were placed only in areas where big ponies could see them. But she had wings and could fly up there so as far as she was concerned she was a big pony, just not quite sized right.

"All I know about the elements is that one time Princess Twilight was in town eating a hayburger and this one filly said something about going to meet her and maybe getting my cutie mark. So I went out there with some of my friends and all I saw was exactly that, a pony eating a burger. Really boring in my opinion, she didn't even say hi or anything. I think that pink one you two were talking about was there too. We learned in school that Princess Twilight holds the element of magic, we haven't talked about anything else yet though..." Angel said looking down sheepishly. When she got exciting she tended to talk and talk and talk and a lot of ponies found it extremely annoying. She was hoping she wasn't making her new friends mad.

"Element of... Magic.  Yeah.  Those things."  Dax felt extremely embarrassed.  He had heard the term in passing, and here was Angel already having learned more about it than Dax even knew.  He hoped he didn't sound as lost as he felt.

Face facts, Daxter... these two already know more than you do because they have actually been in Ponyville.  They see things.  They know things.  They do things.  Well, maybe you should start asking questions, right?  I mean, you'll never learn if you don't ask.

"Angel, Blitz... uhm, I... I wanted to... well, just..."  He took a deep breath.  "Look, I wanted to thank you two for... well, for letting me in on this.  ALL of this.  I haven't known either one of you for long, but... but I'm really glad to have met you.  Both of you."  He gave them a sheepish smile, then cleared his throat.  "Okay, well - so what's the plan?"

At this very moment, he hoped they'd be friends forever.

For the green pony saying he's an plant choked on his cider he started drinking. After he recovered knowing he got everyponys focus. He wiped his muzzle, "sorry, drank to fast" he smiled sheepishly trying to hide his white lie.  :squee:

The more of this group that seem to assemble out of the wood work the more he realized he needed to do one of two things

1.adress trapjaw openly in the group of his half truth or

2 keep the secret and talk to him privately for the whole story.

Cresent made up his mind to go along on the quest hopping to get back some of the bits he lost to the vendor and all else fails make friends along for the venture or at the inevitable hospital

For the cat, Cresent assumed an experiment involving magic for the cat, or not an cat at all weather a-

he stooped himself in that train of thought,

No unicorn would be that clumsy with magic.

Unlucky possibly but clumsy and wizard don't go hoof in hoof unless the punch line involved discord or trixe in some shape or form.

His thoughts went back towards Seamore and listened to what last was reading silently. Then he herd the catch about the 3 trees being abele to cut down instead of one. Did the pony intentionally leave this fact out? He doubted it but just to make sure if it was intentional or just the smors this pony sang about that was kicking in him

 The bat pony said

"1 tree for such a bad spider, covered in jewls, and we could split the tree up in" he counted the group again to make sure he did this right "6 ways to make bits of the wood of the tree but would the spiders nest be built around one tree instead of say, 3?" he finished

Priestess had already been listening for a while, several minutes before Briar showed up, and a few minutes more before he revealed himself. But the best way to get info, and potentially introduce oneself, eventually, would be up close and personal.

And what better way to that than by being invisible?

She focused and activated her "Gifts." The first was "Scent of running water." With the Nekojin making a grand entrance out of nowhere, she'd need to keep her scent nonexistent, and this would do just that.

The second would be "Blur of the milky eye." To say it would make her invisible would be inaccurate. What it did was make herself appear visually uninteresting to the brain. She would be filtered out by the brain and the eye would piece together a more engaging picture, like the ground around her. The eye of the viewer would just slide off Priestess. Even the sounds of her movements & breathing would be effected by the magic and disregarded by the brain.

The only way she could be seen, is if they were already looking at her when the gift was activated, or if she did something really distracting to give herself away.

It took a little more focus, managing the gifts as well as the Equine guise provided by the blood talisman on her forehead. But as long as that wasn't interrupted, she could continue wondering the camp, face to face with those present, and she would never be noticed.

So far there was the Nekojin: Syo, the Bat pony: Cresent, the lumberjack: Seamore, the smoke pony: who left... uhh... someponies named Caliber, Last Stand and Dusk? She did not know which was which. She was terrible with names. She even forgot the name of the philosophical plant horse whom she was leading. He only mentioned his name once during their entire dialogue together. That's not enough times to register.

Whatever the case, she would learn more as she entered the camp proper. Discussion about offing a spider, gave her a little pause for concern.

"A diamond coated chaos spider? Could it be a member of the Anansi? Possibly even an agent of the Weaver herself? Here in Equestria!? Ugh... why do they have to be spiders? Kitsune do not like spiders! "

Priestess continued weaving in and out between the campers, taking notes on each one and what they were saying.

Seamore was unsure of what Crescent meant, being unaware that his permit allowed for three Everwood logs, and not having heard Last Stand's comment about the permit. "One Everwood log is worth 2,000 bits on average. Divided between the seven of us, if everypony decides to go that is, would be 285 bits each. That isn't even taking into account the Spider's Diamonds." He was of course referring to Last Stand, Caliber, Dusk, Crescent, Syo, Briar, and himself, not knowing who the bat pony left out. After a short pause while trying to remember the question he continued, "And the Diamond Spider has laid claim to an area where many Everwood trees grow. Why do you ask?"

rune grinned. "dont worry about it." he said, setting off at a brisk trot out the forest.

Melke didn't say much as Rune trotted out of the forest. He was silently scanning Rune with his magical gem and getting a rough indication of his magical level. As he did, he noticed his gem was particularly stained with a dark magical residue.

He's magical signature is rather strong but... I am getting a combined signal for some reason, could it be these runes? My gem... the taint is building up already... it won't be long until I have to release it and find a way to deal with...

After a while, Melke started to realized that he would be entering Ponyville for the first time. And that is not an option that he likes.

"Erm... Rune? Can I just stay in the forest? I don't want the entire town to see me..." Melke said, panicking at the realization.

After the introduction, Syo's eyes fell on the pony with patches as he stood up and started to trot over to a nearby cart.

"To answer the question about killing it, it's an invasive species and it's hunting the local wildlife. It's a disruption to the ecosystem and where it came from is unknown. What we know about it comes from first hoof accounts, as it has been attacking anypony who goes into that area. The first step in this sort of situation is for the locals to deal with the problem, then if they can't handle it, the government gets involved."

Syo was about to argue when she reminded herself that she was not in her home world and these ponies do not just teleport or lure the invasive species out of a healthy ecosystem.

"My name is Seamore by the way, And this is Dusk, Last Stand, Excaliber, and Crescent,"

Darn... a barrage of names... I can't remember them that quickly.

While in her own thoughts, she had totally phased out when Seamore was point to the respective ponies.

"If either of you would like to have a S'more or an apple cider, you're welcome to,"

Syo's ears perked up and eyes widened as she heard the offer and then her mind can't think of anything else but food.

"Then... DON'T MIND IF I DO!" Syo exclaimed in delight as she teleported over to get herself a handful of s'mores. "But I will skip the cider, I can get drunk off of that."

After a short while, Syo was happily eating the s'mores and had totally shut off whatever happened prior. She was holding the s'mores in her two paws while sitting on her key staff, her tail swaying lightly. As she started to come back into the conversation, she then heard Briar said:

"I can baseline it for those who doesn't know for now and say that in a sense you can consider me a plant of sorts."

A plant?!... Oh~ no wonder I had problems feeling where he was before I came into the group. His magical signature and power is the same as this very forest.... That means I can't get any more information on him magically, how I wish Dyr was here, she knows how to talk to plants.

Syo decided not to say anything about the plant thing though she did visibly wore a face of shock for a few second prior. Then suddenly, the avatar turned and faced her all of sudden.

"Perhaps I could also inquire about you at a point when there is time for it? I have never heard a cat talk before and I must admit, it is quite intriguing."

"Er... sure? If you can stop freaking me out..." Syo commented as she got the chills after thinking about how a plant can "see" her and how creepy the "pony" form looks.

Afterwards, the conversations seems to be steering into something about bits. Syo did not know or even cared what bits are and just remained silent while enjoying her s'more. However, as Syo was enjoying her s'more, she could not help but feel that something was near just now, right before she joined the group. She took a look over to the gemstone orb that was fixed to the top of her key staff, she can see that it was glowing but Syo disregarded it as it could be just indicating that someone else in the group here has strong magical powers.

"When they found me out here, they figured it good I got in there, and to the orphanage, but you know how it goes. You make One tiny little bomb out of things you dig out of the trash and tries to learn others how to do it too and then suddenly they stop trying to keep you around. I don't mind really, it was so Boring both places. Out here is where all the fun is."

Blitz answered Angel's question whilst the rest of things seeped into her head and she tried to think over things. The current suggestion seemed to go with some of the Elements of Harmony, something she hadn't seen before or heard of really either. It rang a vague bell, but not enough to make anything guaranteed in her head regarding it currently. Sides, they would need some things if it was like a lot of things anyway and it was getting sorta late. They could ask Twilight tomorrow or something perhaps and then get some stuff tonight.

Anyway, Dax had said something too that... What was it... Oh! Right.

"And I bet you'd like Pinkie, Dax. She's the most awesome, fantastic pony Ever! She defies logic, rules and does it with a huge smile and loots of fun. She can't be explained and she makes everypony happy, and one day, I'm gonna be Just like her. Just less pink."

For now anyway...

"Anyway, things to find, things to make. I bet we can ask in town tomorrow about the elements and what they look like from Twilight. Or Pinkie might know if she's not there? Or Applejack? Twilight have a lot of friends that I bet knows, but most ponies sleep by now or are getting ready for it, so for tonight, we get to collect some fun stuff."

The grin on her face grew wider and a low giggle almost echoed out of her very being.

"We're gonna need a looooot of color I bet, and I wanna use the best of the best for my friends. It's some fun leaves I sometimes find when I get Timberwolf bark. Not sure what it's called, but it's really good and very colourful, so it'd be perfect."

She turned a bit around herself then stopped and pointed in a direction leading further into the forest.

"They usually came from there when it was, before they didn't want to play anymore. I bet if we go that way we will find a lot of the leaves, and we're gonna need as many as we can get."

A single leaf here and there barely gave her enough to really test it, and she hadn't had any of them at all for over a week now, No, she was gonna need more, and hopefully some bigger and fresher ones too.

Vivid gave a sly smile towards Zenru at the mention of the scrolls before the tip of her long horn glowed and the two remaining scrolls floated towards the two ponies,

Her eyes wandered towards the one behind Zenru as the scrolls reached their targets. She frankly was still amazed that this was one of the five, but you never could judge a book by its cover after all, and as she spoke again she kept her eyes on this one, trying to see if she could see what was special about Yrel. The tournament ponies had been very vague with this one, so she was rather curious.

Though, she needed to keep some focus on Zenru as well. Some might call it paranoia, but she was not too trusty that her focusing on a family member of the top swordspony in Equestria couldn't lead to something rather... Regrettable. Sure, the pony would not be able to do her much permanent damage unless he had access to some strong sealing magic and a dummy vessel, but that didn't mean that he couldn't potentially bring a world of pain upon her head.

"Nice to know Euqestria's conservation efforts are in full effects. I'd love to just ridicule them on going through this trouble just for some wood. But the old U~eponsumisu would craft weapons and armor from the enchanted wood. These artifacts would prove just as effective, if not more so, than their steel counterparts.

Even Neighpon's forests have some of these enchanted timbers. Many a shrine have been built around such great trees.  So yes, to get the opportunity to harness enchanted lumber in measured amounts is indeed a worthwhile business venture."

She weaved in and out between each member encircled around the campfire. She took a look at Seamore's wagon. "Yeah, that thing's gonna barley hold one tree." She made her way over to the cat, Syo. "You. I should probably investigate you a little more." She approached to where Syo was seated. Right as she was close enough to smell her-

"But I will skip the cider, I can get drunk off of that."

Then she teleported back to where she was.  "Grugh!" This time she leapt and bound over there. And then got a nice strong whiff of her scent.

"Hmm. Interesting. You don't smell like anywhere I've been, and I've been to alot of places." She then focused her aromatic analysis on the staff. "I can't seem to get a make of what this staff is constructed of either." Then she noticed the orb. As she got closer, she noticed it began to react. Priestess quickly backed off and eyed the feline. The further back she stepped, the more the orb subsided. "Y'know, you must not be a very good magic user if you're not paying very much attention to your own wards."

She looked around the camp to see whom she should investigate further, until she noticed the bat pony. She cocked her head. "Now what they hay are you looking at?"

"In that case it'll be about a 6,000 bit profit to split evenly between those who go, more if we can find some good size trees. Well, it looks like I'll have to make room in my cart." Far as she was concerned, there wasn't any point in getting all up in a tiff over this whole "three times as much wood" thing as it wasn't like Seamore could've gone anywhere without them noticing three dang big pieces of wood dangling in his cart.
