music Musician Who Most Inspires You

I know there are a lot of musicians here. So, who's the musician who made you first want to be a musician? And furthermore, which musician has left the biggest impression on your music, and why?

For me, watching Amadeus when I was too young to be watching it is what hooked me. That symphony in G minor that starts when we first see Salieri? When you witness that at 3 or 4 years old, you never forget it.

Most lasting impact? The music to Ecco the Dolphin (especially The Vents level), Sonic the Hedgehog, and composer Maurice Ravel. Go listen, NOW!

I don't follow my own rules, because I know they're made up. Sshhh! Don't tell anybody.

I'd say that I first started to want to sing and really get into music was when I first started to listening to Nirvana when I was 7 or 8 there was just something about Kurt Cobain's voice that spoke to me and this inspiration followed me and my music taste.

Inspired me to play all my heart whenever I perform on the piano, drawing from my life passions and experiences.

Told me that life isn't always gonna go your way and that moving on is the best way to deal with difficult times.

In conclusion, Rachmaninoff's passion and Romanticism's attempts to convey human emotions at the highest level drove me to become an advanced musician. Edited by Derpity Derp

I come from a pretty musical family so it was no surprise when my brother took up guitar and I took up piano. I played for a while but set my sights ultimately on playing trumpet, which seemed to be the instrument for me!

Now, I am self-teaching violin and trying to be a vocal artist. C:

As for inspiration... I have way too many. I was introduced to musicals since I was a baby, classical music has always been one of my favourites (not a Chopin fan, though, more into Vivaldi), baroque, Celtic, etc. C:

I ALSO LOVED THE MOVIE AMADEUS! The man who played him also did the vocals for Quasimodo in Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Ramones.

The Beatles because they're amazing.

Red Hot Chili Peppers because they're amazing.

The Ramones because they weren't very talented or trained and they still made good music. ;)

There are so many musicians and bands that I love and get the most inspiration from to play and write music, but the one band I'll always bring up that gave me the biggest boost to playing is King Diamond.

And I'll swear by that till the day I die. If I hadn't heard their song when I was a weeeee little pony, and I hadn't thought to myself, "THAT IS THE MOST AWESOME SOUNDING BASS LINE EVER!!!" then I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be where I am today.

This is the song that gave me the most inspiration.

That piano concerto is one of my favorite songs in existence and my favorite Rachmaninoff piece

Kanye West is my favourite musical artist, why? Kanye produces his own songs and produces for other Hip Hop / Rap artists. Kanye's lyrics are relevant to me, because when he was growing up he lived with a single parent and had to live with his mother's boyfriends. This is the most brief connection I have to his music as other songs that I've had a connection with. Even though this song hasn't been officlally released... here's a live version of it.

If you don't happen to be a Kanye fan, that's fine, but if you ever listen to him to a look what's behind his lyrics.

I love Rachmaninoff! His third concerto, replete with unplayable cadenzas, is my favorite. Also, his preludes are NUTS! When I first saw his music performed live, it just blew me away.

I'm not really a Chopin guy, myself, though he is still amazing. I like his friend, Fanz Liszt's music far more; it just appeals to my senses for some reason.

Tom Hulce was Quasimodo? Awesome! ^_^

Dave Rodgers was one of the awesome musicians because of Eurobeat, as well as Yuzo Koshiro because of his wicked trance music. :D

Ah, Yuzo did a few of my favorite games: Revenge of Shinobi (Dat Long Distance) and Streets of Rage. Guy's a BEAST!

Yeah, and he also made songs from the racing series Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune! :D

Untortunately, I am not nearly as musically educated as some of you here, but a lot of my favorite music comes from soundtracks from such masterpieces as pretty much every Nintendo series and movies like the Lord of the Rings. However, I crate electronic music at the moment, and the artists who have influenced me most are probably Archie, Deadmau5, Ephixa, and Day One.

Well I got into violin when I was five because of Yoko from Timothy Goes to School and Hilary Duff when I was 7 got me into singing (dude I was young don't judge! XD) And music that actually does inspire me is Coldplay's music and Pinkiepieswear's music helps me think and go to sleep

I´ve been into classical music since I began studying at basic school and (thanks to my mom) I grew up on Brahms and Beethoven.

Last year I was searching up the YouTube and I found Karajan conducting Radetzki march. At that moment I was fascinated by him and later that year I began attending conducting lessons. So my biggest inspirator is Karajan. :)

Angus Young of AC/DC is the one who inspired me to learn how to play guitar. He may not be the most extreme guitarist out there, and I mainly listen to heavier stuff now, but he's the one who started it for me.

Well, many people inspire me. The first person to spark some inspiration in me would have to be Lady Gaga. Later, after I discovered MLP, I learned that there were brony musicians. I looked them up, and the ones I listened to (and still listen to now) just.. make me want to work my ass off.

So mostly brony musicians, but Lady Gaga still deserves credit. The brony musicians I am talking about would have to be Alex S, Glaze, and Eurobeat Brony.

Karajan is amazing. They've released some baleful recordings he made with some orchestras, however, watch out for those; they're obviously not bad because of his conducting, of course.

I gotta say, my favorite conductors are Pierre Boulez (though not a fan of serialism, in general), and Neville Marriner. Neville conducting Beethoven's 6th is like BUTTAH!

He may not be most extreme, but he writes solid songs, entertains and is "all in" with his music. He deserves his due.

Some people may say disparaging things about Lady Gaga, but she can write, she can sing, she can play, she can dance, she can act, and she can easily hold people's attention. I think one of the reasons rock music is in a slump right now is that it's so self-aggrandizing. It should be rebellious, but I'm not so sure that selfish pompousness is good for it.

Sorry, soapbox is now put away. Keep listening to what you like!

Itzhak Perlman. He's an amazing violinist who had polio but went on to have an amazing solo career....my violin teacher knew him and said that they always imagined him in a really good string quartet, but never a soloist because of his polio. He proved everyone wrong.

Although now he's apparently living with really bad tendinitis and can't play anymore :(
