movies/tv Do you think Frozen is overated?

Having just re-watched it recently . . . .

Hell no! (Still, see my previous post.)

This movie deserves all the praise it gets. Frankly, I forgot just how funny the writing is. Olaf is an absolute riot, but there's lots of little comedy bits with the other characters that hit right on the mark. The animation is wonderful, snow and ice have never looked better in an animated movie. As per my last post, I just have to say how smart it is. The foreshadowing to it's eventual twist is woven like a quilt! Especially since, on your first viewing, you don't even know there is one!

There's not much more to say, everything just works the way it has to. Happy I saw it and will defend my stance on it.

It is EXTREMELY overrated and I am honestly shocked.

When it came to theaters, I did want to see it and went and saw it and it was really good. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the story line, because it wasn't you usual "Princess has problems. Something bad happens, Prince comes. Saves Princess. They fall in love. The end" kinda Disney. It was more about sisterly love. Though, I am shocked that it became so popular. I liked the movie and enjoyed it, but I didn't LOVE it to pieces where I flip out over it.

Honestly, I found the movie Brave and Tangled more better in my opinion. EH, I am still a sucker for old Disney though. Like Lion King.

I do agree, I still hear "Let it go" and see memes everywhere. Its kinda gotten annoying to me honestly :/ I hate for it to annoy me, because it was a good movie.

Yes. So much so that I'm being teased for it. I don't think it's bad, but EVERYONE ELSE THINKS it was flawless. It was an alright movie, though it's plot was about as shallow as a puddle. The music was good, but the more it's sung, the more annoying it becomes.

Yes. Yes. A billion times yes. I'm sick of it. Beyond sick of it actually.

I'm tired of frozen fans saying it's the first to do something that other films have. Such as sisters, magic, a woman not needing a prince, etc. I'm sick of fans saying Hans is the first villain to attempt murder. Completely ignoring Scar who actually DID commit murder and countless other villains who attempted it. I'm SICK OF THIS WHOLE GODDAMNED MOVIE TO THE POINT WHERE JUST HEARING IT MAKES ME WANT TO PUNCH HOLES IN WALLS. Thankfully it's slowly starting to die down.

Yes, it's overrated.

I personally think it was a great movie, but people are starting to get on my nerves.

The song was alright but wasn't that good to begin with in my opinion.  Now that I hear so much of it everywhere, It's starting to make me really dislike Frozen altogether.

I'm one of those few filthy heretics who hasn't actually watched it yet, but from what i've seen, it seems to get a bit more praise than it deserves.

Overrated in some circles perhaps, but that is always bound to happen with popular things. Detractors will also invariably exist, even for movies, songs, or books that have achieved near universal levels of praise.

Personally, I dislike the term "overrated" and what it often implies: some sort of invisible, objective metric that determines how much one is permitted to like a given medium before they've become unreasonable. Describing something as overrated is a way to make an opinion contrary to popular sentiment -- which in and of itself isn't wrong -- appear stronger and more substantive; then everyone who does enjoy the product is branded, whether intentionally or not, as overzealous and duped.

I totally understand that some people did not like the film, or only enjoyed it to a certain degree. For my part, I think it's a wonderful piece of work -- not flawless, but still very strong in the areas in which it chose to excel. The popular saturation is an interesting case, I think, because I don't find it representative of the film's unique strengths. "Let It Go" was brilliantly performed and written, as well as a visual masterpiece -- but its depth requires moving past many of the superficial aspects of the performance. The superficial tends to be repeated, however. I sense that's where the bulk of the objections emerge.

Great post.  This statement in particular was very well said.

To anyone who hasn't seen the movie, (or anyone, really) check this out.  I made this.  Quite proud of it I do say so myself.  And to everyone who is sick of hearing about Frozen, sorry to rub it in your face again.

Took the words right out of my mouth! Frozen's not the 1st great movie Disney's made and it won't be the last. I just saw Big Hero 6 and enjoyed it just as much as Frozen. Edited by WiiGuy2014

Frozen is very very very VERY overrated in my opinion. I see it everywhere and hear people singing it constantly. It's so annoying, and now they are making a second one. Seriously it needs to stop.

Doug Walker as Himself NOT the Nostalgia Critic reviewed for Disneycember this past December 2014; and he said it's more "overplayed". Since a good youtube video of it hasn't been uploaded yet. Here's the link to his Disneycember review of it on Channel Awesome.com http://channelawesome.com/disneycember-frozen/

He basically took the words right out of my mouth and also pointed out something about the Frozen Sisters that I didn't catch at first: Elsa being too closed off and Anna being too open and trusting, which is an important lesson not just for kids, but anyone who uses social media these days.

Don't take my word for it. Go see the review for yourself!

I would call it more "overhyped" than "overrated" personally. It's not absolutely ground breaking, but I found it very entertaining, and I actually tear up when I listen to "Let It Go". I know many people are annoyed by the way it's overplayed, but it's still a beautiful song.

It also played with my expectations, putting a spin on a few old tropes, so I found it rather unpredictable, which is always nice.

I wouldn't say overrated but it is mentioned too many times, the movie isn't much better than any of the other movies Disney has produced. I also hate "Let it go", especially the high pitched voice of the singer. They don't have any other songs they can listen to?

Although not bad by any means, I would say that Frozen is, at least to some extent, a bit overrated.

No where near as much as a certain cartoon know as My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is however.
