How do you use the Navigation Bar?

Navigation Bars.

 

 

Funny little things they are. You may remember last year we changed it up a bit; setting it free from the banner so it can follow you wherever you go. Status updates, searching, reading and acting upon notifications became a lot easier among many other things. That's all fine and dandy for user-focused features, but let me draw your attention to the left side of this bar containing the site's navigation. From here you have access to almost every corner of the site and beyond. Even heading out to other Poniverse sites and social media pages. However, the frequency of their use has been an unanswered question that will require some input from you guys!

 

We have two very simple questions: Do you use the site's navigation? And if so, how useful is it to you? We're devoted to making the forums-browsing experience as clean and as enjoyable as we can, so providing us with an insight into how you use it will surely come in handy to shape the future of the forums' design and user experience. If you have any thoughts that can't be expressed with a poll or you have any in-depth suggestions, feel free to leave them below.

I have never used the navigation bar and I don't see the point in having it.

 

I can see the extranet condensed into social icons and the help menu placed in a more promimnent location, but I don't find any of the navigation links useful and that's the reason why I have the sticky bar disabled.

I have used the navigation bar, but only when looking through the 'help' section. And I guess I did the subscribe thing once a while back.

I mainly use items on the navigation bar to access my notifications and messages, as well as to access the administrator control panel, the moderator control panel, the project tracker, queued items and active reports. I also use the advanced search page a substantial amount, but the functionality included in the navigation bar specifically is also helpful.
 
Not including any of those things, I primarily use it to access everything under the Help tab, especially the FAQ, the help files and the rules. I've used it occasionally to access the calendar, blog list, and the member list. I've also used it very infrequently to access specific areas of the forum, Equestria.tv, the blog list, and the store. I use the navigation bar to access these locations both for administration and moderation work as well as standard browsing.
 
Overall, I've found it to be very helpful throughout the entirety of my time here.

Personally, I have never found it useful, but in all honesty, I'm here mainly for the forums and I'm used to boards like this one, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I use the navigation bar constantly. It is really helpful when I need to do multiple things at the same time and I have option to go to the index page near to me.

 

And I use it to access my profile, messages and notifications too.

 

However I don't use the other options than those at all or very rarely.

I mostly use it for notifications and visiting my own profile, which is where I idle when I'm not actually on the site.

Well, sometimes. But the only tab I ever use is the help tab, because sometimes I need fast access to rules and/or the link to the FAQ page if I am about to help someone. I never use the other tabs. Ever. I press the "forums" button sometimes to return to the main page of the forums, but that's it.

 

Speaking of the navbar, it really needs a redesign. Not only is the bar itself ugly, but the blue buttons with displaced texts is just a nightmare.
