GenderIsAnIllusion 2,178 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 We would no longer be under its gravity, or heat. So 2 things would happen (both within about 7 minutes) 1: we will be flung out of our normal orbit. 2:The lights would go out, and heat would start leaving the planet. That double whammey would also leave us dead most likely. If not from cold, then by colliding with another celestial body. 1 My peep is against bullying.... Yeah, and all the other planets would be thrown out of their orbit as well..... so.... we all might collide... heh, let's just hope that doesn't happen in the first place
DubWolf 18,634 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 We wouldn't know about it until 8 minutes later. We would probably have enough heat trapped beneath the atmosphere to survive who knows how long before that heat escapes the Earth. We must plan by releasing more greenhouse gases and fuel inefficient cars!!!! Sig by Wolf, Handwriting by SparklingSwirls

Queen Sparkle 104 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 Did no one see the vsauce video. And by then I hope we would've found a way to go to different dimensions/universes/parallel universes and if the sun disappeared we would be flung out of orbit until we could find another star to connect to however if the sun explodes it's stuff would be shot at earth. Admiral Regulus 2,769 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 (edited) Yeah. If the sun disappeared, we'd still be able to live for... y'know, at least another generation. It'll get colder without the sun, but we have an atmosphere to trap in heat, and we have plenty of fuel sources to burn through to produce more heat, not to mention geothermal energy. In 2008, the total energy use by humans was 143,851 terawatt-hours. One year is 8765.81 hours. This means the humanity is producing 16.41 TW, on average. The Earth absorbs 240 W/m2 from the Sun. Earth's radius is 6,371 km, so its area (with respect to the sun) is 3.14*(6,371 km)2, which is 1.27451e14 square meters. So, the total energy absorbed by Earth is 3.05e16 W. This means we need to increase our energy output by 1864 times to reach the Sun's level. Sure, that seems like a lot, but it isn't impossible. It just means we need... Twireadbok 142 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 I've dreamed about this TWICE. Each time I zoomed out on the solar system and saw the sun (either disappearing or exploding), then I'm back on earth and everything turns icy. I feel the warmth leaving my body, until its so cold I can not feel anything. It's pretty scary, but of course the sun would never disappear and the heat would not dissapate that quickly. lyrics from "Laughter" by Mandopony, Pinkie Pie from the Desktop Ponies project, background by Bartoz
CC_Maud_Pie 6,431 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 (edited) If the sun disappeared: - It will be all dark and no sunlight - No more trees and plants. Therefore, no more fruits and vegetables and we have to live on meat - Higher chances of flood since the sun won't be there to evaporate water - Many living things, especially us, will die from a lack of Vitamin D - It will be cold everyday In MLP world: - Princess Celestia will stop existing and Luna will get more corrupt and become Nightmare Moon Educated or not, you should know that the sun has an important purpose for the Earth and has important functions. It is part of the reason why living things have the ability stay healthy and survive. Edited November 2, 2014 by CC_Maud_Pie All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.
