Is Fallout Equestria worth the time?

Well, for a few weeks, i have been reading "Fallout Equestria." I think it is rather good but i feel as if my interest level is exponentially decreasing. At first it was cool because it was all about fallout and survival but now at chapter 17ish, it seems all about doing random errands and sex. Does it get better? No spoilers please!!!!

(Of topic: lol glad I practice reading upside down or I'd be in total RAGE right now at Feld0 lol)

I haven't read it at all. This and Past Sins are just those larger Fan Fics that everypony seems to like, but I just don't have it in me to read them. I barely read the smaller fan fics! I guess its just hard to keep my interest on things.

Anyway the main reason I find it hard to read is because its a Pony fan fic, but seems to be not very Pony like at all! For one is the obvious Fallout part which I find it hard to find anyway at all to successfully merge the two fictions. Ponies and Rainbows just don't go with Mutants and Nukes! :P Also from what I've heard its more of a Fallout fiction that just so happens to star ponies.

But hey you read more than I did so you can make a more educated decision than me, and you are probably much easier to please! (lol "Always Critical")

Because I cried at the end XD And it was the kind of story that made me pick it over watching TV. It's just... amazing.

All my feels.

Oh! And thank you! X3 Not sure if you're seeing Archen or "Butts <3" because the forum is being odd

Can't really say much about this fan-fic. I mean, I've heard a lot about this fan-fic and positive things about it, yet I just don't feel interested in readin' it. The thing is, the more canon-ish the fanfic is, the more enjoyable it seems for me, and from what the fan-art for Fallout: Equestria suggests, its not all that canon. For instance, I finished reading "Its A Dangerous Business, Stepping Out Your Door" for the 3rd time, and I absolutely love it  . It stays very true to the canon FiM universe (Even though it was completed before Season 2 came out) while adding in new stuff to the story that ain't canon. It has the "normal" and "adventure" tag-thingies in the EqD fan-fic vault, and also has a 6-star rating, so you know its pretty good :D , so yeah, I prefer the fan-fics that are more canon than the ones that aren't as canon.

Be warned though; the fanfic above I mentioned is over 142,000 words long

Also, I'm glad mah text ain't inverted no more. Now I don't feel nauseaus (However the hell you spell it) when having to invert my head every 10 seconds.

I will try and keep this spoiler free as best I can.

Let me say I have never played a single installment of the Fallout series, and I honestly know nothing about the game, except what I've looked up about it because of Fallout: Equestria. Not to mention there were some YouTubers I followed that worked on some Fallout related fanworks a while ago.

Even if you have not played the games, you can still enjoy this story. Yes it is long (Over 40 chapters that are separated into 4 volumes, but the sequel Project Horizons is over 70 chapters long and growing, at least I think it still is), but it needs to be long to tell a really good story. I did have my issues with it (the amount of time elapsed from beginning to end was an issue with me, and didn't seem too believable) But Kkat did a great job blending the two worlds, and painted the backdrop of an Equestria that could not be healed by Harmony, or the Magic of Friendship. It gives an emotional quality to Equestria, that is believable, and kind of mirrors human life (or situations).

The characters are deep, and three dimensional, and aren't Mary Sue/ Marty Stu in the slightest. They have their own stories on what has brought them to the point that you meet them, and discovering that isn't simply glossed over or rushed. They are flawed, and have their shortcomings, and somehow grow from their experiences. Any references of the show or games are not abrupt or sudden, but blended well within the situation. or dialogue in the story.

I would say you give it a shot, and its okay if you walk away from it. Like I said it is long, and many people may not want to dedicate the time to reading a lengthy fanfic. I for one am glad that I stuck with it. I won't be writing my own Fallout:Equestria story anytime soon, but I will be enjoying the many spinoffs if has created. Not to mention FoE related OCs. :3

I hope this helps some. Its kind of hard to try and tell you about this without giving away spoilers.

I have both played the game and have read the story (well, most it... Enough to understand it)

The story reads just as the game plays... And that is, it takes a long freaking time to get from one end to the other.

If I were you, I'd wait for the abridged version.

Personally, I didn't care for the story but you can make of it as you will.

Yes, you should keep reading it. If it's too much to read, there are audiobooks available on Youtube,

FoE is the kind of story that's long, sometimes overbearingly so at times, but once you really start to immerse yourself with the world and it's characters, the story begins to become less about the quests and survival, and more about simply wanting them to survive (in my experience). Although the errands and sex (there's really not much) seems to be like filler, it's all important for the finale. It wasn't until I was on my second read-through that I figured all that out. The story kinda gives me a "Rocky" feel in the fact that everything before the finale is building you up more and more for the twists and turns, which in turn are all winding you up for the finale.

But that really doesn't matter if you can't find yourself enjoying it. My advice is that you finish Chapter 25, and if you're still not into it, there's no point in reading anymore.

Christ; this was back in 2012. xP Well, for any newer peoples considering, there you go.

I'm about half-way through, and am really enjoying it.

I don't think the length is a problem. If anything it ought to be longer, so I can keep reading and reading!

And I haven't played the game.

But, man, I just lost the game - and I'd been doing so well for months!

I'm really enjoying it myself, which is funny, because I was always turned off by those anime that have over 100 episodes (Like Naruto and One Piece) so I'm surprised a long fan fiction like this really caught my attention and kept me hook through out. I'm only on Chapter 26, too!

TLDR: I love it.

Laughter. That's me.

I see it not only as the aspect of a good friend, but also a virtue for life!

To let the world roll over me and my friends (psst that's you)  and enjoy every moment is my life goal.

So let me make you laugh... Let me make you smile... Let me brighten your day... You may be all the better for it

I'd have to say either Steelhooves or the Lightbringer/Toaster Repairpony herself.

The former because no other character has never been undeniably badass while still scaring the Hell out of me!

The latter because I truly believe she's an inspiration for me. Her story and the show from which it sprang changed my life.

My favorite Fallout horse would be. Probably Calamity or Red Eye. Calamity because he's so friendly and he stuck with Littlepip even when the rest of the team disbanded. Red Eye because even though he's using slavery he seems to be the only pony in the entire wasteland that realizes. "Yeah, the wasteland sucks but it's only going to get better if we make it better. So let's get off our 2 century old couch and make the world better!" He's also the one getting the most done.

Awesome! It took me about 3 months to finish FoE reading for about 30-50 minutes a day on weekdays. It was a bit of a grind but so worth it don't ye think?

I love Foe! I've read both the original and the 70 odd chapters of Project Horizons so far  :D (still waiting for the next chapter  :P )

Gotta say my favourite character is either 'pip or Morning Glory (from Project Horizons)

'Pip is just so adorable  but yet so badass at the same time  I thought she was just a really well-made character to have as the protagonist.

Morning Glory is just my favourite character of all time  :D I think her origin story is one of the best from the FoE universe!

I never really had a schedule for the amount of time I read FoE. When I first started reading it I read several chapters in a session. I took a break over Christmas for whatever, I finished it in January though. Now i'm reading PH and I must say i'm not enjoying it nearly as much as the original.FoE.

well to each his own I guess :D I love PH just as much as the original, although I didn't get into it until around chapter 25. What makes me like it so much is the fact Somber ties in events that occurred in the original to stuff in PH (I mean we even get some parts where 'Pip and Blackjack team up for a little while but it still works with the FoE canon) and the fact that characters like Velvet Remedy and Calamity do return eventually
