VictiniStar101 214 December 14, 2014 Share December 14, 2014 I like the abundance of content that this fandom, as a whole produces, as to me it shows dedication. I like how this fandom has charity events and overall is a positive force in my eyes. I like how welcoming the fandom is. Unfortunately I have not reached the point where I would consider the fandom a family, but I still love everyone in this fandom that serve as a positive influence. Whew, after that, I want to go to BronyCon more then ever I may add more to this later P.S. I have a bad feeling that this thread has already been posted, though I didn't find this topic when I searched. 5 Signature made by 0blivion My PMVs: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJNMOVPADubbJZnKmuf4lL4OXlQ9rDlmp

LightFlicker 91 December 14, 2014 Share December 14, 2014 I really like it when we are brought here for one reason(mlp) and we aren't judged based on age, sex, religion and stuff like that but instead we find more interests among eachother, bringing us closer, no matter wat we say or how express ourselves, and no body makes fun of eachother, which is really awesome!!!

catnet 9,359 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 This might be a long one... The main thing I LOVE about this fandom is how open-minded its members are to have gotten to this point. There are grown adult men and women, all enjoying this series and having the confidence to talk about it with their fellow bronies (and/or pegasisters, if you prefer the term), even when we know there are people out there who cannot value or tolerate a show like this simply because it is 'outside the norms' to do so. Back when I went to school, I always felt excluded by other people because I *wasn't* other people. There's this expectation that, as a boy, I was meant to behave like the other boys, and in my school that would have meant watching The Inbetweeners (doesn't interest me :/), playing CoD religiously (not a fan of FPS, to be honest), have a huge interest in sports (watching it bores me, and I suck at playing ), and so on. Plus, I wasn't exactly a very masculine boy (a bookworm like Twilight, nonaggressive like Fluttershy). And if you can't meet these norms/'rules', you're just not made to feel welcome. It's like what makes you distinctively you is rejected, and if you can't be made to be like everyone else in the crowd, then too bad for you. On this forum though, I feel perfectly fine admitting what I like and don't like, and I hope the other members do too. For instance, I like spending my time playing Mario games and watching anime like Lucky Star, while reality TV bores the crap out of me. I've no problem saying that here, to people I wouldn't have known for any longer than a week, simply because by being a fan of this show intended for little girls you get that neither your age or gender, or anything else, should limit you in who you are or who you wish to be. Nobody has any of these limiting expectations of each other, and it'd be great for everyone if that sort of mutual respect was more common in this world

SFyr 1,982 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 Personally, I like the blend of acceptance and creativity. Not only is the MLP fandom rich with all manner of artistic contributions and projects, the core beliefs fostered by the show/community strive for accepting and supporting new additions. Overall it's just a great place to explore, create, and share. 1 Commission Thread | Deviantart | Poniverse Tumblr | Art Tumblr
Starflower 323 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 The people in the fandom come from different backgrounds, from different places all over the world, and the reason why I love it is because it is very diverse. I also like how the fandom has "different sections or groups" , like we have the brony artists, brony musicians, brony writers, etc. In this fandom, we have a thing for everything. We celebrate MLP by doing whatever we like and whatever we love to do the most, and it is amazing.
Odyssey 5,719 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 Hooray, a pro-brony thread! The diversity of people is my most favourite thing about the MLP:FiM fandom. Everybody has something to offer and to love, whether it be musical talent, analysis or just a friendly person in general. This is also one of the few fandoms that seem more laid back than usual. We might get the crazy fan from time to time, but most of the time bronies are non-judgemental and chilled. They don't judge you by your age, race, gender, religion or even hobbies, all they want to do is just have a good time. This attitude is pretty rare in a fandom, especially if it's a big one. The talent of many bronies. Not everything they do is perfect, but it's still impressive to see what they have to offer. Musical talent, fan animations, PMVs, analysis and artisan crafts are my most favourite parts of this fandom. These days I see lots of people criticise things like Snowdrop or Double Rainboom, and while they do have a point, I still love the effort they attempted to put in. Seriously, you don't see stuff like this in any other fandom. How they're trying to defy gender roles. Admittedly not everything they do is perfect, but when I come across things like charities and Bronycon, I can't help but applaud them for this great movement. Everyone can like ponies, you shouldn't let labels like "little girl's show" tell you what you should watch or not. I especially love charities held by bronies, as it's a great cause for both themselves and whomever they're donating to.
Nightfall Gloam 18,293 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 What do I like about this fandom??? The welcoming community (especially this forum) All the original artwork created by people in the fandom. It simply amazes me that we have so many talented musicians, voice actors, cartoonists, etc... and I personally have never been a part of a fandom that has people like this Our ability to bravely break gender roles and stereotypes Our haters. If you are wondering why, they're just funny to watch... Sometimes I just love the smell of a YouTube comment section flame war... 3 Aspiring animator/illustrator, founder of MLPF's Lighthoof and Shimmy Shake fan club! Oblivion 20,282 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 I love this fandom almost 100 percent because of the awesome people that I have meant and gotten to know through it, where else can grown ass men (and teens), get together and watch, talk about, create fan works etc, all for a show that was originally made for 4 year old girls, it's truly amazing, and while it's true that absolutely no fandom is perfect, we for the most part have a wonderful thing going on.
Justin_Case001 4,934 December 15, 2014 Share December 15, 2014 It's certainly by far the most tolerant, open-minded, and accepting public group I've ever associated with. Sageflare 278 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 Why I love this fandom? Well I guess it would be that everybody in this fandom are really one of a kind. You have artists who through there love make art of the ponies all the time also comics that are really funny and well done. Next you have all the ones who make all the parodies and original animations (Like Friendship is Witchcraft or all the Epic pie time videos as examples). You get my point that we take our love of this show and use that love to make original creations to share with other Bronies across the Internet and that is wonderful. lomk 20,666 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 I think the fandom produces a lot of great content to this day, but it's just not as good as it once was, I think. That or I'm just not as passionate about MLP as I used to be. Don't get me wrong; I still love the show. But back in 2012, about 80% of the media I consumed was MLP fanmade. Perhaps that's because it was new and now that I've been on this forum 2½ years (and a fan of the show longer than that), the newness is wearing off. I really wish I could have been in this fandom from the very beginning. That really would have been awesome. I was just jumping on the bandwagon as it was blowing up because everything I saw on the internet had been ponified. I would consider myself one of the earlier bronies as I started to get into the show around March 2012 (Putting Your Hoof Down was a new episode at the time but my first episode was Bridle Gossip). I've had a wonderful time in the fandom and I don't plan on leaving soon. This place is awesome. But I've been a member here for so long. I've got to know a few people here. I've seen members come and go. I've even known a few people who got permabanned. There is even a member on here whose account is still active, but she hasn't been online in a couple years. I miss talking to her. She was pretty awesome. That was way back in the day when I called myself ThatOneBrony, before I really got active on here. Back when I lived with my parents and I had to limit my activity on the forums because I didn't want them knowing. What they were unaware of is that I had an MLP library over 20 GB in size. Today I'm sure I'm pushing 50 GB. I guess the one thing I have a problem with being a brony is that it's not widely accepted here. I don't see any bronies irl. I did actually see one person in the mall once, but he looked about 14 years old. I didn't want to approach him and look like a pedophile because that's what I totally would have rubbed off as being 22 years old. I wish it was easier to find people here who have an interest in MLP. It feels pretty lonely being the only brony I know irl. But anyway I'm rambling. I do think this place is awesome. I plan to stay here for as long as it interests me. And I'm sure the fandom will continue even after FiM has finished its run. 1 I refuse to let go until you're impressed. Creamy Arty 6,252 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 Had you asked me this question a year and a half to two years ago, my answer would be quite different. Before I would have said something about how friendly, accepting, and non-judgemental it is. The brony fandom (generally speaking) these days, however, is highly exclusive and many members egocentric. It's very evident on this forum, and searching abroad reveals much of the same. All I really like it for now is the art, videos, and occasional song that somebody produces. I'm more about the content the fandom produces than the fandom itself nowadays. 1 Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,306 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 I like that the fandom seemingly creates show-derived Rainbow Dash vectors like crazy; making it all the more convenient for me to ogle gaze at her with affection. lomk 20,666 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 The brony fandom (generally speaking) these days, however, is highly exclusive I get the same exact feeling out of the modern day fandom. A couple years ago when this was all new and blowing up, everyone was so warm and welcoming. The fandom these days just doesn't have that same charm it used to have and I feel it one hundred percent. 1 I refuse to let go until you're impressed. I refuse to let go until I'm depressed. AlbaTross 1,586 December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 That's a question that warrants a multi-faceted answer. I suppose as a social scientist I was at least a little intrigued by the Brony cult phenomenon prior to joining the fanbase, and there are still aspects of the fandom that elude me, but I mean that in a good way as it makes this group all the more intriguing for me. The majority of Bronies may not have the extensive education on neoliberalism and global capitalism I have, but a number of Bronies do recognize that there's something off about our world system, if not that we're actually slaves to it, even if there isn't anything we can really do about it but escape into a world of magical colourful ponies. I have since come to like Bronies as people too. From day 1, I've always felt accepted in this fanbase, and while there were a lot of eccentric people at BronyCan this year, I never once felt like I wasn't welcome there. Heck, I stood in line with a guy who flies out to every Brony con he can, and has signatures from all the show's staff, but did not get any sense of elitism from him like I might with similar individuals in other fanbases, even though I had only been a Brony for a few months at that point. Bronies are welcoming of everyone, regardless of race, gender or creed, or age, or disability, or any number of factors that may otherwise define an individual in other circles. Bronies are charitable, as evidenced by topping $3000 for children's charity this month, and I hear of a number of charity initiatives started by Bronies, including charity auctions and even straight up donations like we just did. I have also come to like some fan works which surpass all my expectations for fan works. Forum discussion is generally clean and even when disagreements arise, there's no condescension or insults hurled from both sides. People are generally civil to one another and handle discussion with remarkable maturity for a forum, based on others I've been to over the years. In general, there's a strong sense of community here, and throughout the fanbase. Ok, I think I've covered all the main points of why I like this fanbase.

Lacerna 1,302 December 24, 2014 Share December 24, 2014 As I joined this forum and community, I feel the need to post here. I enjoy the fandom and community here so much, it's always so positive, no matter what section you go to. There is no negativity (at least I don't see it) and everyone takes care of one another like we are a big family. I have yet to make any friends here yet, but I do have a lot of acquaintances as of now. I look forward to branching out more, and meeting more of you! I can be myself here, and not feel left out or out of place. As I can express my feelings, and not get judged for it, it's amazing.
