It's much better to face these kinds of thing

With a sense of poise and rationality

- Panic! At The Disco; I Write Sins, Not Tragedies

As Equestria marches on, the Abyss grows hungrier for more of the Bright Realm's light...

It is year 1066 C.D, and Equestria is beset by all varieties of monsters and demons, spawned by the inimaginable evil that lives in the Void beyond Equestria. Villages have been raided, ponies kidnapped, and even Baltimore was attacked en mass by the waves of creatures conjured by the more intelligent voidlings. The line was drawn, and, before the year was out, the Guild of the Light of Equestria was raised in all of the major cities, and was officially instated by The Heavenly Council- Twilight, Cadence, Luna, and Celestia- in the year C.D 1024. Ever since then, brave ponies who were willing to contribute their skills were sent to the Guild to learn, investigate, and eliminate the threat.

Are you willing to come and assist Equestria in destroying these threats? Or will you die trying?

The Guild was divided up into four primary 'cores' for training and mission purposes- fighters, mages, thieves, and druids.

Fighter's Branch

The Fighter's Branch is responsible for the sword and bow-wielding ponies who enter the guild. Despite first impressions, a fighter is for all martial ponies who prefer to fight directly without referring to the more shadier tactics of the Thief. The Grand Champion of the Fighter's guild has the tradition of taking up the name of Steelmane, the name of the first Grand Champion, and earns the position through a arena challenge that is open to any and all members of the Fighter's Branch.

Patron Heavenly Matron: Celestia

Rankings: Squire, Warrior, Patron, Knight, Steelheart, Champion (Grand Champion)

Current Leader: Grand Champion Steelmane VIII

Mage's Branch

The Mage's Branch is responsible for all the ponies with the potential to tap into their inner magic- whether they be earth pony, pegasus, unicorn, zebra, or other; whether through traditional magic, bond to their element, or even psionic. The mage tends to be a reliable, though rather prideful, practitioner of their chosen arts, whether that be pyromancy or necromancy. Only one practice if forbidden of the Mage's Branch- demonology.

The High Archmage is decided through a complex inner politics system. Unlike in other branches, only the Archmages and their direct subordinates are allowed to vote, and this system can go on for days at a time.

Patron Heavenly Matron: Twilight

Rankings: Apprentice, Experiencer, Mage, Specialist, Grey Hoof, Archmage (High Archmage)

Current Leader: High Archmage Iceheart

Thieves' Branch

The Way of the Thief is not just for the lowlives and the backstabbers, the dregs of society, but also for the high and mighty, the well off, and the influential. Both common street thugs and social kings and queens can be found here, all willing to help Equestria through numerous ways. The thief tends to be both influential as well as shadowy, as willing to brighten up the room with their shining presence as they are to darken it with their shadowy form.

The leader of the thieves is the mysterious being known as the Triplicate. When the current Triplicate dies, the only one who comes to know about it happens to be the one that the deceased Triplicate has chosen. This person will then mysteriously disappear, and the Triplicate will live on...

Patron Heavenly Matron: Luna

Rankings: Unlike other branches, the thieves' branch work entirely off of personal prestige. If you are truly a leader, then, you will inspire the other thieves to listen to you. The only one that is has any sort of rank advantage over the other is the Triplicate, who is almost universally admired by the branch, anyways.

Current Leader: The Triplicate (true identity unknown)

Druid's Branch

The Way of the Druid is responsible for nature- for respect to spirits of both the plants and animals, and possessing the mental ability to manipulate them both. Although the only druids that are sent on guild missions are the druids with natural affinities for manipulation, most of the branch stay in their groves, tending to them and ensuring that the dark magic of the Everfree and the light magic of the Whitetail stay in balance.

There is no single leader of the druids. Each grove has a High Priest, who form a council. When times of high council are called, they elect a single one of their number to leave the council and join the council in Canterlot.

Patron Heavenly Maiden: Cadence

Rankings: Initiate, Naturesinger, Natureborn, Hermit (Neophyte, Priest, High Priest)

Rules

1. Please, please, listen to me. I've never had to throw anyone out of my roleplays for misbehaving, and I don't want to start.

2. No godmodding, no powerplaying, no Mary Sues.

3. No Alicorns. Not because I don't particularly like alicorns, but because they have a special role and training that is outside of this roleplay.

4. No monstrous races- changelings, Diamond Dogs, or Draconequuses, for instance- are allowed.

5. This is a darker roleplay, but still well within the realm of allowance for Poniverse. Please make sure that your characters are also acting within this realm of allowance.

6. Please keep swearing to a minimum. I don't want this to become too vulgar.

7. Romance is allowed- encouraged, even! But see rule 5.

8. Lastly, and most importantly, have fun!

Only 4-5 characters (not participants) will be allowed. Please fill out the following form.

Name: Aero Garent

Branch: Theives

Equipment: Could you expand on this a bit more, please? I don't understand it, but will edit it when I find out. :3

Edited Background (if applicable): About the same as mine now, but I guess I'll add the usual story of being born into a poor family and stealing to help out with funds and food and stuff.

I... am very interested in this but I don't think my pegasus OC would really fit unless you'd allow him to join into the Mages Guild (if his wings are operational) or Thieves Guild (if they are partially operational) or Druid's Guild (if they are completely inoperational).

Name: Broken Physicality

Branch: See above.

Equipment: Imperfect Reflection of Loyalty in the form of techmaturgical wings.

Edited Background (if applicable): Broken Physicality was born six hundred years after the return of the Lunar Princess. His childhood consisted of enhanced learning and indoctrination under the rule of the Equestrian Diachry consisting of Friendship and Love after the rebellion of (post-return) the year 200.

After receiving his cutie mark, Broken Physicality was shanghai'd into the Equestrian air-force, surgically altered for the high-speed combat required to fight in orbit of Equus and thrust into patrol duty between the planet and the Lunar Prison Facility.

A year into his assignment, the Prison Facility mysteriously exploded after a barely understandable warning blared out into the star system - "She is awake."

The Facility's destruction was powerful enough to shatter the power source for Broken Physicality's wings and he was stranded in space. It took four days for him to die.

He has woken up in your universe with no idea what allowed him to live or how it could even be possible. He's resolved to find his benefactor or, failing that, at least find a more hopeful life away from the iron rule of the Sparkle Dynasty.

FINALLY! I've been looking for weeks for a good RP, and I do believe I just found it.

Name: Fusion Chord

Branch: Druids

Equipment: Small utility/hunting knife (think this)

Edited Background (if applicable):

Fusion was raised as a young colt on the outer edges of the Everfree forest, and his mother and father were living happily. However, when he was around 4 years old, his mother left for another stallion in Canterlot. His father was forced to work even harder than before to raise him properly. He followed whatever work he could, struggling to get money to feed and school Chord. By the time Fusion Chord was 13, he and his father had found a good home with plenty of work around it. It was also around this time he became close friends with another young stallion like him. Together, they both discovered their love of music, and more importantly, metal. Their tastes matured, and they moved on from bands like Manticore and Strapping Young Colt to bands like Mareshuggah and Poniphery. They were best of friends for a few years years until, unfortunately, Fusion's only real friend had to leave Ponyville for family reasons.

After this, his grades at school dipped, and he was struggling. He managed to pull himself up onto his hooves, and picked up his guitar. He promised to himself and his friend that he would not rest until he surpassed the skills of even Misha Maresoor. He locked himself in his studio for 4 days straight, and emerged a talented young guitarist. The next day, he picked his guitar up again with his magic, and struck the lowest note possible on his guitar, follwed by a fast-paced dissonant tapping riff. His horn let out an unexpected burst of raw sound, and he gained his cutie mark, finally finding his true talent.

A year passed from that day, and his father started teaching him skills he saw as "essential," such as survival in the Everfree. Fusion decided it was best to learn these skills, in case one day he did actually need them. He learnt the basics of finding food in the wilds, as well as protecting himself from the more dangerous wildlife within. After 2 months alone in the wilderness, Chord was at peace in the forest. He emerged, finding a nearby village razed to the ground. He went over to the town, trying to find out what happened. He saw a large, unspeakable horror, and fled in terror, back to the woods. He honed his magical skills, practicing manipulating sound to soothe the animals, else they turn on him. He emerged once more, and found a grove, full of ponies. Fusion swore allegiance to them and now stands by them in this time of darkness.

(spoiler for length [if anything's unacceptable, let me know and I'll see if I can change it])

  • 2 weeks later...

A magos RP? how could I NOT want a taste? Hope I'm not too late on the entries.

Name: Kazas Azarith

Branch: fighters' guild

Equipment: Light-heavy Royal Griffonic armor, with personal modifications. A chain with a small weight at the end of it ( used for snagging enemies or tripping them, or even a lucky mid-range hit.) A sturdy shield, and of course, a very, very special sword with a soul of a great pheonix trapped inside.

Edited background: Kazas's order, the divine retribution, has had its' back broken. One of the first to respond, the order tried to fight back the demons, but failed miserably. Syuren, Vorrin, Lorec, and Alrahm, and most of the order's volunteer acolyte force, were lost. Kazas, heavily wounded, had gathered the weapons of his fellow, now deceased keepers, and carried them all the way back to a safe area with the guilds. Cut off from his own country and without forces to lead, he has fallen greatly. He now only lives to cut a path to his family, across the Eastern sea, and rectify his mistakes.

Heck! People! Wow. :D

I'll go through everything here in a moment. Thanks for the interest, guys! :D

Well, first things first, what i mean by equipment is anything special your character might have- whether it be an heirloom axe, a special suit of armor, or even, say, the special ability to call lighting down from the sky. (SHAZAM! ZAP!)

@,

Well, the above should answer your question. Welcome to the Druid's Guild! I'll send you a message with details about that after I confirm the others.

@,

I certainly wish that your unique-generic background and personality had more sentences, but other than that, I answered the equipment question. Welcome to the Thieves Guild!

And there's no need for the 'steal to help poor family' background. The Thieves Guild cares not, as long as you learn(ed) quickly.

@@Sekhayet,

I have two condition for the wings- due to their... extreme technology, and the fact that you probably had some sort of hard crash landing, they will start off broken- they are merely metal pegasus wings at the moment. Assuming your character can upgrade this piece of equipment by himself with only limited help, he will be able to find pieces of the debris that came with you in this catalystic explosion and cannibalize the pieces to repair the wings.

The other limitation- since this is a rather unique item (and because it can grow more powerful throughout the game), you will have to be alright with me giving some of the more SHAZAM-y powers to the others. However, I would like to know more about this universe of yours so I can incorporate it in more effectively... expect a PM soon.

Other than that, welcome! I'm not sure what the above would translate to guildwise for you, but you're in.

@,

Pretty much anything that isn't stupidly overpowered by comparison to, say, steampunk and mid-level magic. If it is something that has the potential to be stupidly powerful, I might attach some conditions. The most common of which being that you don't have priority on powerful tools you may come across.

Also, only one special item per... err... 'slot' if you will, and only 2-4 of said items. So not three swords, but a special suit of armor, a helmet, and a sword might be alright depending on the power of all of them together.

@@Malafax,

This works fine. Does the knife have any special properties? (Say, made out of a rare metal or a family hierloom from his father?)

Welcome to the Druid's guild.

@,

This saddens me. What do you mean, all the others are dead? :(

I'm going to post two conditions with the sword, to keep combat oriented. First, the recent... tragedy has weakened the connection between Kazas and Azarith. I don't want you using any of your more unique powers until later in the game. Secondly, because of Azarith and the fact that you do pretty much have the power to SHAZAM!, I'm gonna put you on a slightly lower priority for getting more powerful items.

Other then that, welcome aboard!

@@Alex Kennedy,

I humbly await your application. :3

You and I were having similar thought patterns, actually. I was planning that kazas didn't have access to ANY of Ezerepth's perks, for a while. After all, his mental state, and thus, the state of his soul, is pretty bad. He'd get better with time, with help from others, of course, and could eventually reconnect and gain back power eventually.

And sadly, yes, they are dead. You did say it would be dark, and I did need a situation to limit power and gain back over time if possible, so I thought, " well, why not?"

@,

Yeah. But still, I was kinda looking forward to the mass wit that I was starting to expect the moment I saw your name. And then I read your post.

Dreams were shattered that day... :(

Oh, well. I hope you enjoy yourself. :D

Wellll.... I could probably change " violently ripped to shreds by the forces of the endless void" to " missing in action", giving kazas a bit of hope. That, and maybe a few more of those D.R.O. volunteers survive. Maybe that was a little too dark XD.

I humbly await your application. :3

Actually... I was going to apply now, but come to think of it, I think you might end up having to wait for a while yet. The thing is, I really hate the idea of joining a group that several people are already in, especially when one of the groups appears to be empty, but I don't know that I have a good character for anything other than a fighter. So I'm going to have to think about this for a while, and maybe make my first new character in ages. But I'll try to figure it out before I go to bed, at least.

Alright, I'm just going to go ahead and pull out the only viable Mage character I really have.

Name: Lost Knowledge

Branch: Mage's

Equipment: Not much in regards to material possessions, but a great deal of knowledge about magic and it's history. While not a master of any type of magic, he is skilled in a variety of magical disciplines, mostly older ones not commonly seen. Physically weak, though nonetheless brave when need be.

Edited Background (if applicable): I think his current backstory should pretty much work. He'd have joined the guild more out of academic curiosity and fascination with this strange phenomenon than anything else.

@,

If you play, could you make an effort to tidy up your grammar a bit? Sorry, just a personal thing... it gives me headaches. :/

Other than that, you are good. I'd prefer Caliber, but either is fine.
