Can anyone back up the validity of this article? Because, quite honestly, this would be AWESOME!!! But, I do not want to get overly worked up over an elaborate prank.

"Video Game 'Five Night's at Freddy's' Getting Movie Treatment(Exclusive)"

Despite this being true or false, discuss! Would you really like to see a FNaF movie?

[Edit] I've done some more research on this, and so far, everything I have seen, plus Omar_25 down there, are telling the same story. This is a real thing! It is happening! Hold onto your socks everypony!

Also, Thanks, to the person who changed this topic tag, I really couldn't decide whether it fit under "gaming" or "movies/TV" ^_^

Yes, it is true. They are making a five nights at Freddy's movie. I really hope that they don't ruin it, but since they have Scott Cawthon working with them it should be good.

Also, I really wanted to post this picture.

Personally I don't think it'd work out too well.

I think people have a little too much hope for transitioning works to different mediums without adapting a lot of the elements. The setup of FNaF is geared specifically towards being a game--while I think the idea of living anamatronics to be an idea that could work well enough, FNaF itself seems a little too established and known already. It relies heavily on jump-scares and atmosphere, and currently, we already know too much about it.

It'd be more a movie born of fan service than actual horror in my eyes.

@@~Sole~, I have a complaint or two about that though.  A game creator has a very different skillset than a movie producer, and just because he made a successful horror game, doesn't mean he can make a successful horror film. They're... too different. It's like having Lauren Faust assist with an MLP musical--you kinda see the connection, but it doesn't fully... connect.

If given a choice between an already-established horror producer and the original creator of FNaF, I think the first choice would make the better FNaF horror movie.

but he's not the director, as far as i know. he's simply there to make sure the movie is accurate, he's not actually making it.

also, as far as cinematics. Scott is pretty good at that anyways. FNAF is a lot like a movie as it is.

@@~Sole~, but then, isn't his presence irrelevant to the quality? It sounds like he's there to just make sure it's accurate with the source material if that's the case, which can just as easily be a limitation as well as an asset when shifting genres.

And I doubt that. FNaF works because you are taking an active role in things, and you feel the danger is directed at yourself. It has some clips and such, but they're entirely small segments or moving images that work because of the game environment. A movie is a long, solid and linear piece composed of many long segments that flow according to a whole different guiding principle (paced unraveling rather than player-environment interaction).

I dunno, I just fear another Fred, where people kinda miss what made it popular and try to expand something because of said popularity rather than solid merit to be expanded in such a way.  :wat:

It'd be a little weird, with how it is. Closing doors and turning off lights?

It'll probably be different, possibly with walking around instead of one person sitting in an office closing doors.

I would definitely like to see a Five Nights At Freddy's movie, I'd like to see what route they go about with it, and if Scott Cawthon is involved. I also would like to see what forms of animation or CGI they use or even if they use live action.
