I fan girled so hard with this episode, world building is best thing to do in an epsisode.

let's hope we get another like this soon.... but with Applejack and Rairity.

There would be so much shipping.

so far I'm really liking how this map is gonna work, it's a wonderful to get a story going.

I've have nothing but good things to say. though I dare say that the transition back to being RD's friend could have been handled better. I guess I could see that she just snapped into being Rainbow's friend again because she reailzed in a split second she could lose her for good, and I guess I could buy that RD was secretly willing to forgive Gilda the whole time as long as she stopped acting the way she had.

but it still could have happened better.

in a way that didn't feel like "Poof mutha fucka".

You'd be surprised how quickly a friendship can form when you save someone's life.

This was an episode I enjoyed a lot, Pinkie and dash had many funny moments. I was also glad to see griffons in there home and how they lived. All in all a great episode for a great season.

The return of Gilda since episode 5. The Cutie Map sent Pinkie and Rainbow Dash to restore their friendship with her. It's nice when ponies (or griffons) are redeemed like that. I can't forgive Trixie though. Now I'm waiting for Lightning Dust to get redeemed. I like Lightning Dust.

I like that both elements of the girls matched what the Griffons needed. They needed to laugh and be loyal.

What about Bats!? It was a great one.

Oh, in this season, well still we already had Bats!, I'd prefer an Applejack&Twilight episode. ;)

While it might not have gone into quite as much world building as some of my friends wanted, I enjoyed it. Gilda coming back and getting some redemption was a plus, and it was nice to see Pinkie's antics making a tiny bit of sense in the long run

Finally got around to watching this one, definitely my favourite of the season so far. 'Griffon the Brush Off' is still one of my all-time favourite episodes and it was a delight to finally see its resolution. Pinkie Pie was solid gold again, she's been the S5 standout so far for me. :) The flashback was another wonderful moment, I love seeing RD as a filly...always sticking up for the underdogs! <3

The best part of this episode was Twilight writing a book and Dash having loads of fun making fun of it.

Also dat hairstyle. Did anyone notice that Season 5 is mostly about butt-marks and hairstyles? Next it will be hoof-marks and braided tails.

I'm actually more interested in that the writers have begun to touch upon the subject of death in S5. First Tank, then the one-eyed monster's skull. Who knows what might happen later?

Honestly, I was really excited when I heard about the episode.

I mean, RD and Pinkie Pie practically on a road trip? Awesome!!

But, it really fell short. I felt like Gilda's character is now completely different, although I really like her character in season 1, the place she lived in was kind of unbelievable, Pinkie and RD didn't really share any funny moments...

I know pairing Pinkie and RD is a really great match, but this was honestly disappointing. I'm looking forward to seeing more places the map will bring them, and more pairings.

We haven't seen a Rarity/Fluttershy pairing in a while, and same with Applejack/Twilight, but honestly, seeing that these four are the remaining that still need to be paired up at some point for the map makes me very excited!!!!!!

I loved these episode, one reason it has my two favorite ponies and we get to see griffians, I love the back round story of the griffon's. That it was pride for there treasure that united them and not friendship and that lead to there fall, so are we going to chose pride and have a nice run but eventually burn-out or friends/love to build on.

has anyone else noticed that a lot of minor characters are always written as the most hallow and one dimensional personality designs ever?  not to mention shallow representations of the dragons, the griffons, and the yaks.  i almost said buffalo, but Over A Barrel didn't make them completely 1D, about 2D at least, lol.  i wish i wrote stories for a kids show, easy money.  if it wasn't for the mane characters and select secondary characters, i would have never liked this show, because this is the same stuff i judge anime on.

(well, Clannad actually had terrible 1D characters, and the main characters were barely believable, but it makes up for with story, interaction, humor, decent drama despite some plot and character issues, and the music carries the series)

other than that anime, i am fairly critical about characters and story elements, but fortunately thanks to the mane six, i have managed to overlook issues like how the griffons are so greedy they make the Ferengi seem like compassionate and generous aliens.  even the Zionists were probably taking notes from this episode "hmmm, i haven't been a selfish greedy bastard in comparison to these griffons!  i must tell the rest of my comrades in the Illuminati at once!".

but anyway, aside from the cheap elements, there were good moments, and a fairly cohesive and adventurous story that rang the motif of friendship, granting a decent moral premise and character development out of a once hopeless minor character.

i think overall, the fun and quality of the story make up for the cheap cardboard cutouts in the background, but while this is a good episode and i liked it, there was room to improve, there's always room, but it's a kids show and i don't think Hasbro pays these people enough.

I liked how well Gilda redeemed herself in this episode. Not only by becoming friends with pinkie and rainbow, but the way she was portrayed in "Brush Off" was a very awkward way of writing. Her dialogue was much better here than it was before and doesn't seem forced at all. I'm looking forward to seeing her in future episodes.

Well, the forums crashed so no live discussion of the episode, but I just wanna say that THIS EPISODE WAS AWESOME!

If there was to be my personal favorite episode of the season, this one might just be it. I loved seeing some great Pinkie and RD interaction here. Pinkie probably had the best characterization here. Also, this episode fixed Gilda a lot. They gave her more of a reason for her jerkiness instead of just assuming she's always been like this, like in Griffion the Brush off. The designs of the griffions were also great, each with a unique design. I loved the animation from when they were being told the story of the king, I got some Wind Waker vibes from it.

So many great gags from the kingdom not allowing singing, to Pinkie letting Gummy cook. So brilliant.

On another note, people are gonna ship Pinkie with the griffion statue, I can already see it.

10/10.

I agree with you, when we first saw Gilda I wanted to punch her in her beak! But after seeing her back story and understanding the griffon ways it was like her rough and tough side made sense. It is great that Pinkie was the one who sparked everything with her baking soda/powder. And when Gilda sacrificed the idol to save Pinkie and Rainbow, it got you right in the feels.

I was expecting the unexpecting as in Gummy actually baking an awesome cake when Pinkie returned.

Same. I didn't expect a shot of Gummy at the end, but I feel like they could have done better just by using exact the same scene as they did, but with a gorgeous and perplexing cake on the table.

Chalk me up there. Although I quite liked Gilda beforehand, but that was mainly because of a personal {and now thoroughly demolished} headcanon. But if they hadn't developed Gilda as a bonafide badass, that would would have been such a wasted opportunity. I'm glad they took it.
