music Me playing Zelda on piano

So, I decided to record when I played Zelda - Song of Storms on my keyboard.

I have learned this song all by myself, without watching any videos tutorials and such. (I think)

I can play a few other songs too like Halloween, a song from Minecraft, super mario and a few Pokémon songs which I also have learned by myself. I don't know anything about how to play piano or how to put your hands, as I said, I've just been playing a little bit maybe once every second week or something.

And yes, I know I make alot of misses and I know I play wrong in some places in the video, but I am WAAAY too lazy to record the whole thing again. And before you say anything, yes I know my fingers are quite short post-1052-0-74320000-1329709796.gif

Anyways, here's the video:

I love this particular song. You didn't do too shabby a job at all considering that you have not had any formal training. :)

Maybe you should actually take up piano playing as a hobby? You seem good at it! :D

Song of Storms. Crazy guy constantly cranking his magical music box. Windmill spinning faster and faster as the rain falls INSIDE the windmill and any other house, cave, building your in. I love this. Great job doing it on piano. All can do is Tifa's theme from Final Fantasy 7. What your doing is WAY more complicated. :)

Have you considered taking up Piano as a formal instrument? Having played piano for 11+ years, I can provide some really in-depth advice if you want to take up Piano playing. Ignoring the misses you admitted to have made, here's some other basic things I noticed:

- The timing was rather shaky; an important thing to learn is to keep the beat consistent, even if that means slowing down considerably at first.

- A lack of dynamics (assuming you don't know what that means, it's essentially volume control/dynamism)

Not a bad first song to play, I'm a decently involved Zelda fan myself (though I'm more a fan of ALLTP and the GB/GBC games, I know how to play all the songs for those games). :) If you do decide to take it up, a keyboard/synthesizer is a nice instrument indeed, but the feel of an actual Piano is entirely different. I suggest if you want to get serious, you should try getting a cheap upright piano; some acceptable ones can go as low as $1000. A real piano is so fun to play on, since you have an extreme amount of control on slurs and dynamics!

Yeah I have tried to play on the piano in school and it feels way cooler, but I have no plans on buying a real piano or taking lessions though ^^ It's just a little thing I do when I am bored and my internet is down haha

Impressive, I must say, considering you've only been playing the instrument for 2-3 months and supposedly you've learned it by ear.

As Ashbad says though, the rhythm is a bit unstable. you could start slow and build up to get a hold of it or you could try to play along with the original.

I can't really give other advise, than to notice the rhythm and try to practice that, since I have never really played the piano.

This is a very reasonably done piece.

My biggest problems is, that the parts of the song which needed to stand out, ended up in the background, your left hand dominated your right hand in terms of volume. If you got that right, it would've been a lot better.

But I applaud you for doing your best.

Yeah I know, that's because I have problems to reach the keys with my right hand since my fingers isn't long enough. So I can't really play the right hand notes as hard as the left if you understand what I mean.

It's great to see some pianists around! ^_^ I will give you a little tip to stretch a little further, try keeping your wrist level with your hand, and keep practicing, I have incredibly small hands, and I usually can stretch about 9 notes, 10 at a push using this technique, along with practicing some exercises. I have read some of your earlier posts stating that you don't particularly want to start playing piano as a formal instrument but I must say that if you did, I think you could become quite the pianist! Anyway, good job for your first piece.

You don't take lessons and your this good... Dang, it is a really nicely done piece. Like someone else said the left hand was a little loud. You did a great job on it though.

I have an ocarina, and I actually know how to play, and I played almost every song from Ocarina of Time with it, but it took me alot of time. Maybe on the piano is harder. I don't know, because I don't have one, but it sure looks hard D:
