movies/tv Japanese or English Dubs?

I prefer Japanese, because the characters show more emotion in the voice acting, while english seems sub par in comparison. But if the anime has good voice acting in english, then yes; its a good show. But i have yet to see one in english have that, and so i stick to japanese. So what do you guys prefer?

I prefer English dub solely because I can't stand the Japanese language. I don't know what it is, but when I hear it it just makes me get a little annoyed and agitated. It's silly, but it's just one of those things that can't really be explained I guess.

I can understand that perfectly, but again, it's not for everyone.

To me I'm a mix of both because sometimes an anime/show can sound better in English depending on the show. But if I had to pick I would lean more towards watching an anime/show in Japanese.

English, I prefer to be able to watch my shows than to read it. I usually only watch in Japanese with subs as a last resort.

 

And I heavily disagree with the whole "Japanese has more emotion" as I always feel that always sells English VA's short(who, contrary to popular belief, love the works they make and tries to put as much effort into them as possible)

I mostly watch them in Japanese. It depends on the quality of the dub and what show it is, they can be good. In dubs things get lost in translation or have bad voice acting. Anything is usually better in its original language.

I don't have much of a preference really. If I saw Attack on Titan in English and then in Japanese, English would be my preferred version cuz I was associated with it first. This can also work the opposite way, if Japanese was the first I watched. That's what I find at least

I will almost always prefer the English dub since it's easier for me and more comfortable to watch instead of having to focus on reading subs...

 

Also, I don't get the argument of saying the original language has the better emotions because I simply don't care about this but only pay attention to their voices in general and I tend to prefer the English ones...

 

I don't really mind watching subbed though and will do if there is no dub available...

I messed up my argument, don't know why that came to my mind though. I do agree both sides will have some advantages and disadvantages on equal terms. But i've learned to quickly read and watch; though i do understand why people prefer english.

I switch between which ever I think is better of the two, usually in regards to which one I found first. It feels weird switching between the two for the same show, because after getting used to one, the other voices just don't feel right for the characters then.

When I first watched Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away", I saw it in English. And I have to admit, the voices didn't have enough passion for me. So I watched the original with English subtitles and I have to say it improved it greatly.

I find it easier to notice smaller aspects in the scenes when I don't have to concentrate on reading and watching at the same time because it takes a little bit of your attention away from what's going on in the picture...

Ever notice the easter eggs they put in them, it may not be obvious to some, but they're really well hidden. If you know any legends of the japanese culture you can spot them. Not only do you enjoy it more, you can appreciate the story as well. That's why i like anime, the things you never notice right in front of your nose.

I like either depending on the anime, for things like dbz, death parade, death note, or FMA I like dub way better. Most I prefer sub though. It really is only those rare few that have better dubs.

98% of the time I watch in English if it's available because I never watch something just to watch something. I'm usually doing a plethora of other things while the noise goes in the background.

In most anime I watch I much prefer to listen to the original Japanese voices and read the English subs. There are a few rare occasions that I will prefer the English dub but that depends on the anime and if it's had a good review of it's English dub. It's rather very rare to find a anime with a decent English dub.

Unlike most people (seemingly) I have never liked listening to non-English voice acting and I don't have any problem with the English ones. I often disagree completely with people whether the voice acting is bad or not. Almost none of it sounds even remotely bad to me.

Cliches bishonen or deeper bad boy voices you hear everywhere, or are the irritating high pitched girls voices? either way, the two former are annoying for sounding alike, and the latter are irritating. I pick the English due to that
