I really could not care less about Alicorn OCs. I just don't find them to be really special or anything I am interested in. I am not one to be wanting to be RPing with an Alicorn OC. Even if they are seriously nerfed (not too OP), then I still wouldn't due to Alicorns pretty much having a special status within Equestria. 

 

People can have Alicorns OCs if they want, nothing against it. It's just that I won't be getting one and I won't really be interacting my OC with Alicorn OCs a lot (unless it is a DM in a RP).

Since I do not have an OC I cant comment at all, but from what I know Alicorns are very rare and there should only be a few, browsing through the character database I think theres way too many, in my blunt opinion people who don't want too put the effort in just make alicorns since they can pretty much do everything.

They aren't even close to canon. There's no possible, logical, way to give yourself a alicorn without writing a huge story that people will probably not read anyway. I can't see why people want alicorn OC's anyway... You don't need wings and a horn to be special.

Overpowered Alicorn OC? Everybody complains about how your OC is unfair, and has a great advantage over the others that they can't possibly match.

I'm not a fan of most Alicorn OC's since they usually lacks character, Has wierd designes and many I have seen are friends or in relationships with cannon characters, I don't like such thingd about any OC's.

I've got one OC of almost each race and let me tell you: It's liberating not to conform to what most of the fandom considers "right" and "wrong." Seriously guys, how does a random stranger's character effect you in any way? They have just as much a right to enjoy themselves as you do, and if it's an alicorn OC that's somehow related to Princess Celestia and Luna, let them be. I don't care if an OC doesn't work in the canon because let's face it, most of the stuff this fandom produces wouldn't slide. It's rather hypocritical to target one group who are just trying to enjoy themselves.

Anyone that has a nasty attitude towards anything perfectly appropriate that someone else enjoys makes me sick.

 

I have but one alicorn OC, and she was banished to the Everfree when Celestia and Luna still ruled in the castle of the two sisters.  In short, she was banished due to her pet (dream-dwelling arachnid).  She is not related to the sisters in any way, but she does maintain balance, albeit chaotic, within the Everfree.  Having an alicorn OC without power is just stupid imo.  Making them too OP is just as stupid.  My alicorn OC uses manipulation and pulls strings behind the scenes to accomplish her goals, while saving her army of arachnids for more serious threats (like Queen Chrysalis).

 

In short, people should be able to create whatever characters they want.

They're ok if they have a more then decent backstory, but most of the ones I've seen are terrible and the OC's I've seen tend to be way over the top. I have seen a few good ones (can't name them), and I have an idea for one for a Grimdark fanfic I want to write.

I'm ok with them. I even have one myself and I'm trying not to make her OP, a mary sue or sucky. I'm ok with an alicorn OC as long as they're not OP, a mary sue or have a sucky backstory.

That's one point, but I have one more big word for you... "Natural Born Alicorns".

My OC is a "Natural Born Alicorn", he was Born with a half horn. But for some reason he can use powerful spells, but not OP spells.

He's an Alicorn and that makes him special.

I'm pretty sure that Luna and Celestia was born as Alicorns.
